Can I get some honest opinions about what's harder between tanking and healing?

I've been a long time DPS main and it's not inherently because I'm afraid to tank or heal or anything. I't just I never had a lot of time to dedicate to multiple characters so dps classes and specs were just easier or more fun to do world content with so that turned into running 5mans with dps and then into raiding with them.

Come Legion I think I'm going to transition over away from being in the DPS masses now that I've had time to level up a bunch of characters to max and try out healing and tanking if only from a 5 man perspective.

I can't really tell between the two roles which is more challenging to do because I can't really gauge this like I can with just looking at meters and knowing the avoidable mechanics. I certainly feel more stressed out healing even dungeons on a fresh character but I don't know if the idiots taking damage should still be able to stay topped off despite standing in the fire for an hour. On the flip side since I'm always with a healer I can't really tell as a tank if I'm mitigating to the best of my abilities and beyond going on damage taken between the other tank and me I'm not sure how to figure out who "did better".

Really the mail tier of shit is everything in between. Plate is usually something metal and sometimes it's stone but at the very least it's a hard sturdy thing. Cloth is pretty good with being cloth and leather usually looks leathery.

Mail looking fucked up has more to do with the aesthetic differences between Hunters and Shaman. Every set seems to be made with those 2 in mind (aside from lowbie gear, of course). I'm not even sure why Hunters or Shaman wear Mail in the first place. They're both tribal in nature. Seems like Blizzard forced those two classes to be Mail so they didn't have to compete for Leather.

And Blizzard isn't even that consistent with what each armor type is supposed to look like. There are plenty of non-plate sets that look way too metallic or stone-y. Just look at Tier 17 Monk, whose arms and shoulders are literally rocks.
