Alright this assumes you know what your doing with computer, but I can easily explain it step by step.

Basically you get python, and make sure you have a package manager to download those new python "wheels", I use pip (https://bootstrap.pypa.io/get-pip.py).

Then go to http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/#curses and click the first link under curses (cp27-none-win32). Save that file somewhere.

Then do a "pip install <file path of the file you just downloaded>" in cmd and you should have curses functionality running in windows.

After that you just do a "python fcrawl.py" in cmd and it works.

Oh, that also assumes your running python 2.7 like I am. If you are running a newer version look for the numbers next to "cp" to figure out which curses version you want.

How do you quit? It's ^C in cygwin, but I am unused to using cmd for anything other than simple .bat files.

Pretty sure that crystal spear on average does slightly more damage per point of mp, is more accurate, and requires less casts to kill in general because it's more powerful. But it has less range, requires more mp (which could be bad if you're low on mp and need to attack), and is probably more swingy in the damage you notice because you're casting it less overall relative to iron shot. And it might not actually kill faster/more efficiently if you're 1-2 shotting things anyway. But I don't know; as a backup irresistible spell for a caster I'd just go with iron shot because it takes less spell levels and has more range. But spellforged servitor can also cast crystal spear so that might be the better choice. Might be better to use on bosses too. I don't think the choice matters that much though. And actually I'd go with orb of destruction as an irresistible damage dealer for a (non-earth focused) caster because it's pure conjurations, meaning I don't need to invest heavily in earth magic for good power, although it comes with its own problem of being delayed and sucking ass in corridors.

Most of the time, I don't read journal text.
Shoving tl;dr text in one go isn't the right way to tell a story to player.

You barely can talk to anyone and they're weak, if you want to massacre them.
There's not even a guard.

2. Threat
Except for Unique and boss, you can always one or two shot them.

3. Balance
There's a huge gap between one class and other.
One class can steamroll the game easily, others have a hard time.

4. Poor writing and disgusting shit
The Shertul backstory is really retarded.
Pregnant woman as boss and orc vulvae.
It's amusing how the fuck this shit can get into steam.

Actually Sil and Brogue are great because they keep things streamlined and simple.

Beat 4 blizzard demons and all the simulacra.
I think the most dangerous one was a Hydra with 10 or something heads, but aside from that Fireball, breath and simple mawling did the trick.
It was a very fun variant, and the loot was proportionate to the challenge: 2 randarts (one is a buckler with stats i don't like, the other i can't equip) and scrolls of magic mapping and other miscellaneous consumables.

You are right, that's why i dealt with them with spells mainly, and when (and if) they reached me in melee i'd cast haste and slap their remaining shit in dragon form.

Anyway, cleared the Shoals, took a fuckton of turns to take all the items to my lair, used the occasion to also identify most of my loot and organize a bit the stash. Between this and since i'm almost literally spamming Dragon Form each time there's an enemy (or even sometimes for fun, see pic related and when i visit my stash), hunger is really taking its toll.
Goazg here is my saviour, it's truly an hoarder's greatest ally with its shops of infinite quality food.

The usual way to do it is convert to TSO and run through crypt to get maximum piety. After that, you do pan -> hell -> tomb. You'll want to get rid of that berserker mut and stop using that -tele amulet. That'll get you killed.

You don't go to Hell, you go to Crypt or Abyss first to grind TSO's piety.
People usually dive Hell to 7th floor ASAP, because there's no loot, so there's no point in exploring all floor.
Hell effect is nasty too, so you'll want max TSO's piety before exploring hell.

Go into Zigurrat and find potion of cure mutation, the first 10 floors should be safe.

You convert to TSO for healing on demon / undead kill, and that sweet Cleansing Flame AOE. Brand holy wrath on any executioner axe you have, and keep 1 battle axe / executioner axe of anti magic for backup.

Oh, I realized you've never experience trog wrath. You'll really want to be able to get out of a bad situation at a moments notice. Perhaps with an evocable blink. Trog will drop berserked gank squads on you. Wrath will go away once you get enough experience, so you'll want to waste no time in gathering experience. If you haven't cleared zot, you can do something like TSO convert -> crypt -> zot 1-4. Trog should be mollified by zot 2 or 3, but you'll get into some hairy situations. You'll have to get creative with your evocables.

If you encounter dangerous situation, just hole up in the corner, read teleport scroll, read scroll of fog, wait until teleport kick in and read scroll of blink to teleport you to exit.
Ziggurat nowadays is pretty easy to escape because they removed -cTele.

The problem with Ziggurat is people don't know when to stop after the safe floor.

It depends on like a dozen things incl player skil land patience for retarded bullshit.. Pump venom and conj, use venom bolt and olgrebs once you have rpois to great effect. Poorly melee with some branded weapon at 1.0 delay and decent fighting so you actually hit. From then it's all floor drops and god choice. Veh/Sif will get you poison arrow so you can keep pumping magic and channeling to kill everything forever. bonus for haste. Oka/Chei bump up your melee with your venom being light support until you get PArrow Xom, yred, nem and others are wildcards that generally help you desperately flail through your fights. Doesn't hurt that shields are extremely cheap for you.

Regardless of whatever you want to do, you'll imp park and run up stairs/hatches then down othera LOT. Especially if you don't overinvest into melee. You'll want to pick up pretty much any magic you can that can actually damage undead, rpois, and demons with imb+battlesphere being the jackpot.
