Nah, its that you petrify a lot slower, to the point of not really petrifying too much unless you were taken completely by surprise and failed your surprise check when she took off her mask.

If you were taken by surprise though, you'll fuck up and start petrifying as fast as a C rank at times.

Sometimes you roll the dice and its a 20, but sometimes you roll the dice and its a 1.

Archer rolled it, and it was like a 3; he was still petrifying because he was badly taken by surprise, but he wasn't entirely beaten at least. It was made clear in that moment that he had no idea who Medusa was from his route.
