I feel like a mediocre player, but I keep hearing about this while I can very clearly understand how long an AE warning lasts so I can stay in long enough to refresh my Greased Lighting and run immediately back in fluidly. ~~Learned it in Guild Wars 2.~~

Yes

The synergy of DRG lies in their Battle Litany and Disembowel debuff for BRD/MCH

DRK can replace the Dragon Kick that MNK supplies, they're all pretty interchangable
