I followed them all around to see what they do, they will all stand near Witchie's house in the morning and late afternoon (6pm~), they disappear at night. If you want to catch them, run out and talk to them as soon as you wake up.

I have started the Rune Factory Series just recently with RF4 and I have some questions:
1. How does fertilizer work? Do you just keep feeding it grass and weed(lol 420) and it'll increase your soil quality? Or do I have to actually get fertilizer from it and apply it to the fields? And does a fertilizer bin work for only one field or for multiple fields (like the one near your home and the others outside of town.)
2. How much square tiles do trees need to grow?
3. Does giving gifts to one person multiple times in one day decrease in effectiveness at that same day? Does giving the same gift overtime lose effectiveness gradually?

Unfortunately, Nastume decided their American audiences would be alienated by the feature, and removed it from their translations of the game. Like the other anon mentioned, in Story of Seasons and A New Beginning, there's absolutely nothing stopping you from choosing the male character and dressing yourself in long hair and dresses, once you unlock clothes customization. I can't speak for ANB as I haven't played it yet, but in SoS, the characters rarely refer to the player character in gendered terms, so it's just like you're playing as a female. But note that in Story of Seasons, it takes a while before you unlock clothing opinions other than the default. I'm in early Summer right now, and about a week away from unlocking the building you use to make clothes.

Since you only have 30 days to fertilize a normal seasonal crop, the best you can do in a year is 3 stars. But if you can do a greenhouse, you can fertilize every day, and be done in 64 (that last 29 of the 93 days your crop is 5-star, which is all the game cares about, but you can still fertilize for whatever reason). You can go on multiplayer and hope people wand your crops. Also, you can get the mystery seeds and pray to RNGesus to give you fireflowers, which give 30 star points, or one half-star rank, to everything on your field.
CAUTION:
If your crops are all the same star rank, but different star points, when you have them in your inventory all at once the star points will average out, meaning you lose. Make sure to harvest the crops you've been fertilizing separately and make the seeds you want before combining everything in your inventory or storage.

What is the best Harvest Moon besides Friends of Mineral Town?

I tried Story of Seasons but it's just too limiting for me in that your stamina sucks, shipping is fucked, and the grind is ridiculous to unlock some things. There are other things I don't like but I don't want to make a huge list about it.

I already know of RF4. It's very good but I want a Harvest Moon right now.

I'm between BtN, Magical Melody, and Animal Parade.

Animal Parade has bad loading and FPS issues.

SoS honestly gets better when you put some time into it. Stamina becomes irrelevant later on, even more so if you play seedling. You won't have to worry about shipping days either.

I just can't take it. Your farm is small as fuck and has to be populated by buildings reducing your ability to farm. Farming ares are separated into a billion tiny areas that aren't super far but neither are they super close making it a pain.

There's only a single fishing hatchery in the whole fucking river.

Getting to town is a long fucking trip unless you have a fuck ton of carrots on you and you have to make the trip frequently.

Shipping prices drop dramatically after your first big shipment and you can't even ship unless a vendor happens to be in town and then you have to decide whether to hold on to all your shit to get some CP with the right vendor complicating the most basic part of the game without really enhancing it.

There's no mountain area to fuck around in so once you're done with the stuff, the day is over.

The town/overall area is too small.

I have to compete with townsfolk for farming areas after they fuck my farm area and you really can't beat them until a few months in and you have to cheese it.

I could go on and on but I really dislike the game so far.

Your farm area gets bigger later on. And it's not really that necessary to get all of the public fields, since your farm area is artificially expanded with the use of greenhouses (2x2 plot in your field for 15 plots inside). You only need to choose what's important, like the bee and mushroom field and the paddies.

Carrots are cheap. I have a stack of those 0.5 carrots from Otmar handy all the time.

About dropping ship prices, it's the supply/demand feature that's only unique on this game. It's emulating, poorly as it can be, how real world markets work. It's a welcoming change, and I expect it would be implemented in future iterations.

It sucks about the mountain area, though.

Overall area looks small, I agree, but your character runs faster than the previous game, so that might be the cause why it looks small.

I came from FoMT/BtN, and bought the game for an HM fix. I guess it's a matter of preference. I'm liking the game very much.
