Well, for vanilla, in terms of mechanical attention to detail it's Valkyrie (or Kronos, I haven't played there myself) but if you'd enjoy servers others would consider overpopulated, Nostalrius might still be the server you'd want to play on, particularly considering Valkyrie is a dead Russian server (Kronos is something in between).

I'd estimate it as half a year or more. Since they probably are doing vanilla questing to an extent (not doing it from scratch but instead fixing obvious issues discovered by some guy who is going through the vanilla zones), you can probably add 1/2 to 3 months to that estimate (and that in itself depends on if they're just making uncompletable quests completable or adding patrol paths to mobs that obviously should be patrolling and fixing RP events or whatever), and it can of course be modified further depending on a number of unknown factors (devs halve the time spent per day, double the estimate). Realistically, it could be the end of Q2 or early Q3 in 2016, but while it PROBABLY will be released in 2016 I think, it's not inconceivable for it to take longer than that and no one knows all the factors that may affect the release date.

It's a server for underage kids who never played vanilla before. Ive never played cata+ but id wager it is more exciting and challenging than vanilla, probably any expansion is.
Fuck the hardest part about vanilla was finding 39 other players who were at least average and farming consumables god forbid youre a tank or farming titans for cthun. Not to mention 1 button specs against 1 mechanic bosses

Over a year ago Theatre of Dreams was the best WotLK server (unless it's Sunwell, no one I fully trust has played there extensively enough to give the true comparison to GD/ToD, but having levelled to 79 myself I can with good confidence say it's probably better than any other servers), particularly in terms of Ulduar scripting. However, at that point its population had started to dwindle (really slow content releases and then it had a death blow from worthless content in form of TOC and early ICC wings being the final content).

Since Gamer-District in particular has really stepped up their game since while ToD hasn't really been developed, I wouldn't say it's the best WotLK server anymore generally speaking (you can of course find details that are better there than elsewhere: for example, last time I checked, GD still hadn't finished their fixes concerning Ulduar trash while trash is also polished on ToD), but is it good? Yes. Scripting certainly won't be an issue.

I don't know about the population it will have. They admins haven't exactly been the best at managing the server before (although slow content releases was one of the big issues and now they have it already scripted and ready) and it might suffer from "Kronos effect" (releasing just after a popular server with similar selling points, in this case Lordaeron), but it might also be advantageous (for example, there might be people who are sick of queues, content bugs or content overtuned well beyond compensating for 3.3.5a talents, and would prefer another fresh low-rate server).

It's okayish early too, just taunt-exorcism-judgement and whack a bit while consecrating

I'm not an expert in leveling (been out for 3 years, just came back and sitting on lvl 76 right now) but my goat pally has been soloing group-2 or group-3 quests easily.

Leveling retpal becomes kinda silly when you're going through outland. You mash left and right, healing and recovering mana as you sweep by, never sit a second to recover mana or health.

I haven't levelled a priest in WotLK but at least in earlier expansions Shadow actually wasn't the levelling spec until you got Shadow Form at level 40, primarily due to Mind Flay suffering a lot from spell pushback and generally being less efficient than Smite until enough Shadow talents buffed it.

I think it might still be the case since Holy Fire in particular was buffed a lot and that helps Holy/Disc builds while Shadow doesn't benefit. In other words, prior to Shadow Form, you probably want to grab Improved Spirit Tap and then Holy/Disc talents (looking at the talent trees right now, Holy has plenty of good holy damage talents, like -0.5s to Smite and Holy Fire in T2, 10% damage to Holy spells in T4 etc).

Anyway, maybe I'm wrong and shadow talent buffs are enough to make Shadow the better spec even at early levels. However, the breaking point still is Shadow Form.

Yeah, something like that. I didn't know specifics because I haven't levelled a priest in WotLK but by the looks of it the general rule from vanilla/TBC applies, Shadow isn't good for levelling until level 40 or so.

Lordaeron is the most fun I've had on a private server in some time. I honestly had my doubts and only hit cap because I had already invested some time into it but I'm glad I did.
No rdf is just hands down so much better. Sure it's slightly less convenient but it maks the world more active, creates a community, and is just the way it was during t7. Also world pvp.
Everyone being in shit gear is making heroics and bgs a blast. Your gear is shit? Well not really because everyone's gear is shit. The best geared groups I've ran with wouldn't have been able to queue up any heroic. Wotlk heroics are only fun in shit gear. Doing heroics and getting t9 was a pretty shitty decision on blizzards end because the scaling of gear just got out of hand.
I went in expecting mol10/eternal quality scripting and lordaeron has actually far exceeded my expectations. Sure there are bugs but then you enter a dungeon like AN and it's scripted a million times better than gd's was during shrek.
Also the population. Sure the queue sucks, everyone hates that. But then you get into a full 40v40 av and think to yourself, when was the last time I did this on a private server. Are they always 40v40? No. Alot of the time it's 30v30 and at times when servers like GD/Hellground/Atlantiss barely have 100 players you only get back to back 23v23 AVs.

So yeah, this is my shill post. You should join us, it's a lot of fun and there are a lot of cool people in the guild. You might be surprised how much fun you have once all that pesky leveling is over.
