There's enough bullshit ambiguity with both how souls work or the time travel stuff that you could probably conceive a way for it to happen.

When is it ever implied that Gaster or Papyrus use orange attack? The only thing I can think of is that Asgore has both and probably knew Gaster but that doesn't mean Gaster gave it to him, I don't think it works like that.

Because you can't fuck with time travel too much. The fic was pretty good about making sure the base timeline stayed the same. Frisk lets Asriel die, then quickly absorbs his soul. Nothing from that point onward changes except the stuff with Chara.

The orange association with Papyrus and Gaster is totally fan created, and I agree with you that Papyrus would have a blue glow if he'd have a glow/flare at all. And it should come from his chest rather than his eye, in my opinion. Sans observes and judges things, Papyrus feels and believes in things.

Based on their in-game attacks, the skelebros probably share most of their abilities, but I don't like the idea of Papyrus having Gaster Blasters. Those seem like a lab creation rather than naturally occurring magic, but that's just my headcanon.

And yeah, he's holding back, and in a very precise, controlled way. He knows immediately when you're at your limit and stops fighting. Undyne says he's strong. Imagine if he fought earnestly with that kind of precision.

I like imagining him as a nimble archer kind of fighter, casting his bone magic like arrows, but I've yet to see artwork of that.
