"Battle" is just a multiplayer add-on.

Sonic CD's levels are designed more around exploration than just speed. Remember it was developed in parallel with Sonic 2, so they still weren't 100% sure of the direction, so Sonic CD is based around exploring levels. Go into it expecting a more traditional platformer instead of Sonic 2 or S3&K. And assuming you're talking about Steam, the version of CD is the Taxman remake so it's better than the original.

Racing Transformed is amazing, get it.

Over the last two weeks, I re-played through (as much as I could stomach of) SA then SA2 then Generations.

SA2 was so much better than 1 but still crap.

Generations on the other hand was awesome, it was just missing story.

Objectively wrong.
Emerald hunting became objectively worse as did the mech shooter levels due to unneeded simplification in both of them. Tails was basically just Sonic but again in 1. The only problems were Amy and Big and Amy only had 4 stages to blaze through and Big isn't nearly as much of a pain in the ass as everyone makes out unless you're getting all the emblems and then he completely is.

While the radar getting gimped in SA2 was a dumb idea, I think the fact that the levels are actually designed specifically for treasure hunting helps, since there are more specific places where the emerald shards are. Mad Space is forever balls though, but a better radar wouldn't have fixed that. Agree with you about Big though. My brother never got all the emblems in Adventure because of one of Big's missions.

Maybe. I'm hoping that they'll dump Pontac and Graff soon and go back to someone from Sonic Team writing everything. Runners, despite the limitations of its story progression and platform, has a lot of good character interaction because the writers are people who actually know the series.

I've recently started holding the theory that Pontaff having as much writing work as they've had is in part because of SoA axing their localization team. Having the story written in English means that localization happens in Japan instead. Hopefully now that SEGA's restructured they can hire a new English localization team and the games will be written in Japan first.

I hope so, more in line with SA1/2 than 06. But we'll likely get another "Comedic" story void of tension, excitement, or fun that has Sonic do everything, Eggman be incompetent, and Tails spout technobabble.

Why does Sega have such a hard-on for cucking Eggman in the 3D games?

His creature becomes the main villain.
His own grandfather becomes the main villain.
His robot becomes the main villain.

And so on. At least he got to actually be revealed as the main villain in Generations.

For the HD version it had dlc yes. Theyre all fairly cheap, like 2-3 bucks, and some contain dlc for two continents. Theres no major new acts, just mostly edits (2-1, 2-3 etc) of older stages with new placement and harder difficulty. But there is new stages for both day and night and the new stages are generally very fun and good

I would snag them before sega removes them someday.

This is historically the biggest problem with SEGA/Sonic Team management. Yuji Naka left in the first place because they promoted him too much and he didn't feel like he was actually making games anymore. To contrast, it worked with Miyamoto at Nintendo because he's really more of an idea guy and he could still do that because of the way they structured the company. But with Naka, who's an actual programmer, supervisory roles don't really jive.
