I find useless to increment a 25% to almost nothing of attack. It's like using Heavens Feel on EMIYA when you can get far better results using it on Saber or the free Alter Rider.

That 25% is more useful in some offensive caster or any other servant with three arts, even her 3* version is a better option because she will get an increment in her NP and has almost the same attack.

Once, during a very dark and stormy night a horribly grizzled and ugly old lady came into the barracks where Diarmuid and his other knights slept. Tired and cold from the rain, she came to each of the knights. She spoke to them and begged them to give her their place by the fire, so she could sleep and be warm. And each one of them called her ugly and refused her. When she finally arrived at Diarmuid last in line, he gladly stepped aside and offered her his blanket. Diarmuid's life was perfect. He had a beautiful wife, a lovely house, and a bunch of adorable puppies. And his wife said to him, that she would stay by his side for the rest of his life if only he would do one thing, and never mention that she had been horrid and ugly on the night they met.

Of course, the other knights were horribly jealous. They soon began to plot against him. One day when he was out hunting, one of them came to his wife and asked for one of the Greyhound puppies. The wife agreed, and when when Diarmuid returned he was furious. He said to her, "How could you do this, when I was so kind to you when you were so ugly?" and her heart was wounded by this. But she said nothing, and their daily life went on. Two more times the knights came around, and two more times puppies were given out, and two more times did Diarmuid call her ugly. And after the third time she finally had enough, destroying the cottage, killing his dog, and running away, leaving him with nothing.

After seeing this Diarmuid lamented his folly. He began to search for the lady frantically. He even took a ship to a neighboring country (Land of Shadows in some versions). There, as he began to search, he found three blood red jewels, which he kept in a handkerchief. As he searched for the Lady, he heard the townspeople talk about the Princess of the country, who had returned after 7 years. Realizing who this just have been, he made haste to the castle. There he learned that his Lady was dying, and that the three blood red jewels he had collected were actually drops of blood from her heart. He vowed to save her, and was told that the only thing could help would be a cup of special healing water from another neighboring country. So he set out to get it. Along the way, he met with a creature known as the Red Man of All Knowledge who helped him cross an uncrossable river. After that, the Man pointed out the castle of the king who held the cup, and Diarmuid set out to get it.

Having 1 turn crit skills is good because you can wait until they draw 3 cards of their deck before they use them and maximize damage even without generating a lot of crit stars every turn.

I use them both, Waver is better.
Drake is amazing and can put out more damage and stars, but Waver can fit in any team, has insane on demand buffs, can boost an allies NP bar by 50%, stun/drain the entire enemy team stopping enemy NPs and debuff their defense.
He can make any meh team into one capable of beating any map, even without his 5* individual stats.

The problem are not the "quality" of the servants, but more the quest itself.
Aside from the little synergy (that isn't really needed because the quest is easy), his line-up is the major problem.
Attila fucks Hector, unless Euryale can kill her before that happens, then Carmilla easily kills both or at least one Rider and finally Scat kills Euryale and David. Not to mention that even if he somehow to defeat Scat, Gil can charge his NP on three turns, two if he is unlucky and kill everyone.

I think those servants are good enough, but in another composition, well, actually a good support can still save him in that composition, but it's an uphill fight no matter who the last one is.

Diarmuid issued a challenge to the king for ownership of the cup. The king agreed and set out an army of 1600 men. Diarmuid killed them all in single combat, and the king set out 1800 more. After both armies were annihilated, the king gave up ownership of the cup to Diarmuid. He returned to the Red Man who helped him once again across the river. As they traveled, the Red Man told Diarmuid how to use the cup to save her, but warned him that once she is healed, Diarmuid's love for her will end. Diarmuid ignored the Red Man's words and flew him to the princess. There, he used the cup to heal her, but the Red Man's words had come true. He found himself unable to love her, and she lamented this, for she still loved him very much. She gave him safe passage back to Ireland, and as final thanks for she brought his Greyhound back to life.
