Progress update.

Today doesn't bring many fancy new visuals - I've mostly been working on updating the HUD to be mouse-driven, running some basic tests of prospective power, temperature, and pressure systems, with varying results and interesting bugs such as getting sucked out of uncycled airlocks, then rubberbanding back and forth outside at 400 mph. Fun stuff.

Outside of that, I've been polishing up the menus and setting up the system for antag/role/job preferences - works like a charm so far. Disclaimer, most of these jobs don't have important parts of their departments functioning at the moment, and several of their starting loadouts haven't been added yet, so right now it's used mostly for setting up roundstarts and access levels, as well as antag selection. We'll get there later.

You'll probably also notice that several jobs are missing - I've decided to stick to a barebones implementation of each department until I'm confident that they can do their job satisfyingly, and then I'll start looking into more detailed or niche jobs. Don't want that feature creep sneaking in.

I stand with PhilPurr 100%. This old server system is oppressive, discriminatory and has to go once and for all.

Your community is already dying as good veteran players slowly get permabanned or leave forever. These people get replaced with underaged anti-furry shitters, which bring down the quality of the server further.

/vg/station won't survive forever. In fact, it will likely not survive for any more than a couple of years. Pomf doesn't appear to be particularly happy with the state of the server lately, it's just a matter of time until he shuts it down for good.

The Furry Freedom Force will do a good job at griefing the server as much as possible, destabilizing the server with round-ruining actions. With improved ban evasion methods, you can essentially grief this shithole every day, but especially more during timezones where few or no competent admins are around.

Even if no reforms are achieved, you are fucked. Rounds WILL get ruined. You might ban them, but they WILL come back over and over again. Any (unpopular) "anti-ban evasion methods" like HWLink will just fuck over innocent players while the griefers ignore that shit.

Yes but it's sometimes difficult to prove if someone was acting on information from watching a stream, whereas its much easier to stop the guy doing said streaming, and if you cut off the source of the information the damage is ultimately stopped.

The more I think about the permanent ban "for explaining yourself" thing, the more I think it's wrong. Take the guy who blew up Chemistry. You wanted him to explain himself, but you also wanted him to not be able to do it again (I personally don't think it's worth a ban at all but I digress) so you permanently banned him. But why didn't you just job ban him instead? Or if you feel he needed a temporary ban as well, why not just apply the length of the temporary ban? If he appealed before it expired that's great, if not oh well he's been punished anyway.

By permanently banning people for things like "blowing up chemistry and logging out" you're kind of saying that blowing up chemistry regularly is worth a permanent ban. If a thing is an IC issue, let it be. If it's punishable, punish them for the actual amount of time, not forever. I think that would be more fair and wouldn't cause any issues at all. Overall, I would say that Geneticist giving Medbay experience is subjective. It really depends on whether it's a round where you're needed to run the cloner to take weight off the doctors, or if you need to stay inside the lab to avoid being a sperg like >>126240715 said, but it can work.

Thing is, whether or not it's punishable and what the punishment is depends on the situation surrounding the event. If it was an accident, they won't get banned at all. If they were doing it to be a shitter, they'll get a permaban.

Cloning is like three buttons. It's (supposed to be) reserved for shit like someone having 0 blood and 500 of all damage types.

A good doctor should know what chems fix what, how to make those chems, how to handle a bleeding lump of flesh dropped in the lobby, when to defib, and how to do surgery.

Using the cloner and using cryo is pretty much on a cargo tech level. If you can find powers as a Geneticist, you're ready to step up and play doctor for real.
