There's a few "major" (like https://github.com/ccshiro/cc-buglist/issues/1167) or obvious (even Dodgykebab might notice https://github.com/ccshiro/cc-buglist/issues/1242). Besides bugs, there's also things that are unfinished (for example, devs are going to implement dynamic spawn timers so some spawn timers currently have default values that are obviously wrong: https://github.com/ccshiro/cc-buglist/issues/1067) or unproven details (for example, they haven't done any stress testing yet so nobody knows if the server is going to completely shit itself with more than few hundred people online, and if it does, fixing that might take a while) that effectively prevent it from being released right now.

On the other hand, it has attention to detail far exceeding any other server of any other expansion. Consider Blood Furnace: Yes, Keli'dan the Breaker adds are currently not linked but then again, if I was as rigorous in my testing for other servers as I've been in testing Corecraft, I'd wager I could find at least a dozen issue categories. Or I can go to Silvermoon City, try to follow the RP events happening, make a list of things that seem as though they could possibly be wrong and then research them in detail. There's two issues in the bug tracker: Blood Elf Magisters inside M'uru chamber are killable (https://github.com/ccshiro/cc-buglist/issues/1985) and Silvermoon City Guardian RP interactions might or might not be exactly correct and needs research (https://github.com/ccshiro/cc-buglist/issues/682). I also think Lor'Themar Theron speech might have changed in 2.4 while server has 2.0 content but I simply can't find evidence of that being changed in 2.4 and I don't report possibly wrong details that ultimately don't matter (while I have reported more significant details that would matter if they were incorrect, often proving or disproving them myself later on).

Of course, the testers aren't omniscient about how things are supposed to work and don't notice minutiae unerringly. But I think the fact that those kinds of details are reported as bugs says something about the server (because everything else seems to work, be it BF patrol paths or Elrodan&Aurosalia RP event in Silvermoon, and because it's already so polished, even inconsequential details stick out and are something devs would care to fix). It's not so much about buying, rather, just play the market (auction house) either setting up a crafting skill or getting used to flipping items.

Eventually, if you plan on raiding, you're going to need excess gold to supplements pots, flasks, as well as other buffing mechanisms, so the need for gold exists, just not at your level.

Besides, there might be a time at 80 where you'll want that gold around for say, a world epic, let alone buying flying (assuming you're playing WOTLK).

The wotlk content release was a fucking joke on the server. Claiming they needed more time to fix shit up so they can release it was just lying. They did work on some stuff but there is no way it was release ready. Well i have done all of sunwell there except for KJ and theres plenty of problems. Stuff breaks often but also gets fixed usually, especially in raids, but 5 mans and trash mobs and some lower tier raids certainly arent as good as they could be. Also the server sometimes has stability issues which is very annoying at raid times.
Its the best there is for raiding and probably even PVP now but it has its problems.

I would expect "good" or even "decent" server to be rid of blatantly obvious class bugs and feature content that's a noticeable upgrade to stock servers.

It's one thing not to have details that you don't notice in standard play exactly correct (like casting seals generating threat) or rewrite the core systems (like server processing cycles) to replicate emergent retail features but HG has a number of blatantly obvious issues that actually affect the way you play (such as Flametongue weapon and weapon skill levelling) that they haven't addressed for years.

Similarly, questing content is pretty much stock. It's marginally better than other TBC servers (I know quests like Final Code aren't completable in MaNGOS because there's private servers with those quests broken while they work on HG) but I wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't done anything at all on their own (backported fixes from WotLK cores or maybe that's the state Trinitycore was in before the development moved to WotLK). They certainly haven't done even the bare minimum of making uncompletable quests completable. Okay, WotLK servers have more broken quests in their relevant expansion content than HG does, but on servers like ToD/Sunwell/GD you can at least notice a significant difference to stock servers so they deserve credit for it.

I could spend ages ripping the server apart (and if I really really wanted to, I could start verifying if its mechanics work correctly outside the obvious bugs and find thousands of issues: if CC testing has taught me anything, it's that you WILL find issues if you research hard enough) because they don't really deserve any credit in terms of 5-mans or how the server is run or other such regards either.

However, ignoring implementation details, it's decent where it really counts: aside from ultimately minor details (like flametongue or damage or Hyjal rep ring proc not overwriting protection scroll), it works to the extent where the way of doing the content tends to be correct. There's no ignoring mechanics because bosses are tauntable or healing Chess event pieces with player abilities because Bishops and Game in Session aura don't work or anything of that sort. If you can forgive its mechanical flaws and bits of stock content (and have a laugh when Igor manages to break something major instead of ragequitting), it does offer a pretty good raiding experience both in the terms of content itself and associated metagame (for example, the economy works, AH isn't filled with affordable Sunfire Robe recipes while at least a while ago you could quite reliably find mats to powerlevel any profession 1-375).

The problem with hellground is population. There's only about two hours a day with decent population. And if you're na it's basically unplayable unless you're neet.
