Damn, I just figured the PVP meta was 120 because that's how it was in Dark Souls and Demon's Souls: I guess I'll have to make a new character. I beat the game and got the moon presence ending (what a disappointing boss fight). I basically have no idea what happened in the story, I have done up to the 3rd boss so far in NG+ and bought the DLC.

has the maintenance finished already or is it yet to begin?

The problem is, the only thing people ever want to farm is attack boosts. As demonstrated by the fact that the only gems people ever farm are the ones that directly boost attack, and not any of the weird ones like poison, stamina, or regen gems.

The official guide recommends you being around 160 when finishing the Chalice dungeons. I guess they figured the the natural defense and all the VIT you could pump would make up for it.

In reality it's because 1v1 duels aren't what the combat was designed around. It's about a host with two helpers having to deal with likely 2 or three powerful invaders while navigating the level. It's not intended to be fair.

When you use all 4 slots on both weapons you get +20 HP / s max while sacrificing all of the damage boost.
This is only marginally usable in PVE when you have a 2nd set of healing weapons you use instead of vials.

You can't reliably proc the poison in PvP.
People don't go for these because they really aren't very useful.

Pulsing gems go as high as +5 I think. I use on on the scatter shot guns.

It's nice for making those -9 health gems bearable on secondary weapons.

The only difference between BB's bells and DaS's orbs is BB requires a bell maiden in the host's world before you can invade them, and DaS needed them to be alive and not hollow. They're functionally identical beyond that.

BB's summoning bells use a very, very similar system to soapstones, it's just that the "summon signs" in BB are invisible and the game randomly chooses from any nearby available ones instead of letting you walk over one and pick it yourself.

Regen gems are useful on 99arc/10vit builds since you can blood bullet, cast ACB, and then be at full health when you make bullets again. Awfully specific, but good for killing bosses in CRF dungeons without spending vials.

Stamina gems are shit in general, I guess. Not sure how they thought that'd be viable when damage gems give more total damage over time.

You can reliably proc poison in one hit with multihit attacks like Wheel and Whirligig. Rapid poison isn't really a big deal since you'll just be doing less damage overall, but tagging someone with slow poison in one attack before switching to a fast weapon is pretty funny.

I was thinking about this the other day, because whenever I co-op i pretty much always try to chase down invaders, you don't just rush into mobs of course but you can handle them together you've got help after all.

There needs to be some sort of better incentive for Host to actually progress forward aside from the thrill of the hunt.

Yeah, I actually really like its design and the theme is absolutely sinister. The cutscene does a good job of making it seem super otherworldly and beyond you. the fight itself is mostly gimmicky and it should probably have a larger HP pool, but it's fast paced and varied enough that it makes a lot of the Beast fights seem like cake. Just the entirety of the fight screams that for me. The atmosphere, the difficulty, the fucking music, the emotional impact it has on you. Your whole game has been chasing past this evil monstrous nightmare and now you've defeated it but you refuse to wake up and instead fight the keeper of the dream.

The moon presence to me was just another great extra boss, but Gehrman was to me the most incredible final boss i've ever fought.

I agree completely. I played through the game completely blind, nothing could have prepared me for the moment when I fought Gehrman. When I saw Mergo's Nightmare Slain I was like holy shit, this is it, i did it I freed this place.

Then I saw the house on fire in the dream and I was like shit. This is not over yet. And then I saw that I had to fight Gehrman. That shot Of the hunter looking up as he rises from his Chair and you see the moon behind you two over the field of flowers. I think that was the most awe-sickening and gut wrenching moment i've experienced in a game ever without a doubt.

And then when you fight him and the song begins with that violin playing. You just feel the entire tragedy behind the masterpiece that this game crafted. I honestly did not want the fight to end that first time, cause I dont think anything will ever match what I felt at that time.

For your main hunters, whatever that might be, whether it's the one you first beat the game with or the most original build you have, do you dress them in a story way, like an npc from the church or a vileblood? Or do you just use what's cool?

I usually do the latter, but looking into all these story tidbits is making me think about whether i should change or not.

first playthrough I just went completely standard hunter, like the exact same clothes and weapon (Saw cleaver) through out the whole game.

Yeah i never used another weapon so ill just beat the game with saw cleaver. Maybe after a couple months ill pick another weapon with a new playtrough.

So i looked up what you said about 3 endings, and it seems to aonly matter at the very end.

Also, about these chalice dungeons, i think i understand it.

So i have this pthumeru chalice, i activated it, cleared the 3 floors. Now i have this "pthumeru root chalice" and "central pthumeru chalice". So i can just activate these 2 at 2 different stones and do the 2 dungeons. However i dont have ritual blood to activate them. Do i get them trough the story? Or should i replay the first dungeon i have activated, because i remember it dropping ritual blood (which is weird because i dont have any now in my inventory while i should have gotten some in the dungeon).

And if the 5 graves are full of chalices i just remove the first one for a new one if i want i guess.

Absolutely correct.

Do normal chalices for more and better root chalices, and do root chalices for gems, equipment, and loot. Dungeon difficulty and gem strength are determined by depth (check the chalice in your inventory), 1 is easiest and 5 is hardest. If you want to go deeper do the "central pthumeru chalice", but if you think the one you just cleared was pretty hard do the root chalice instead for better gems.

Ritual materials can be found within chalice dungeons, and some can be bought from the messengers.

You can skip the root versions till you get to Depth 5, that's where the best gems are.

When you clear the whole dungeon properly (all side dungeons, don't skip anything) you should have enough materials for next one but this can get pretty time consuming. Or you could check the pastebin in OP it has guide for dungeons including speedrunnig.

There is a very small chance for certain bosses to appear as a common enemy in any dungeon. Confirmed bosses so far are Pthumerian Descendant, Pthumerian Elder, Watchdog of the Old Lords, Abhorrent Beast, and Bloodstarved Beast. They drop a guaranteed gem and don't respawn, but the gem is about one rank weaker than it'd be as a layer 1 boss.

There's a video floating around of a watchdog in a giant lake of oil, by the way.
