I don't think people thought she was bad, just that she was boring. And she kind of is in a way, but you could say the same about most of the characters.

She just feels like same old Chun with a mix of her old normals, while most other returning characters got cool new stuff. Her major new thing, v skill, just feels pretty useless honestly. Most Chun players would rather have hazanshu back. Oh, and a Blanka slide, cr mp, which also feels mediocre. Even her v trigger, while actually good, is pretty boring in terms of wow factor. Seems to lack flair.

I think the thing that makes laura so good is that shes a grappler but also an insane stun beast. her slow fireball makes it borderline makoto fast if you keep momentum. I think her weakness is similar to makoto in that when she has to get in and do something she gets a bit obvious and desperate.

but since this game has a visiable stun guage it makes the mind games a bit better so you can scare people

Look, I really want to like Ken, but... he's very bad at the moment. I would say he's definitely the weakest character in the roster.

Besides personal stuff, this game totally lacks of the hype factor. Every match feels exact the same from the previous one, extremely basic and boring after a bit you played it. The final game needs to be WAY different from this build, otherwise it may end up boring after a little while.
