So we can all agree that Venom being the medic was a dumb twist and should have been left out. But if you did leave it in, one way you could salvage it would be like this: during gameplay, create a hidden points system that relates to how players play the game. If you play the game in keeping with the traditional conception of Big Boss (stealth, no kill, tranq/CQC) you got awarded "BB points". If you play the game in ways the classic BB wouldn't (going in loud and gunning people down, going out of your way to kill people, using lethal weapons only) you get "Venom points." Towards the end of the game a rumor starts circulating that Venom isn't the real BB and that Punished Snake, the real BB, is coming to take his title back. This all leads to this dramatic confrontation with Punished Snake. How this confrontation plays outs depends on your points system. If you have more Venom points than BB points, Punished kicks your ass and Venom realizes he's the phantom, accepting his place as BB's right hand man. If you have more BB points than Venom points Venom kicks Punished's ass and Punished comes to the shocking realization that only the real BB could have defeated him, and that you are the true BB while he is the phantom. People like the ending but wonder which one is canon. After the game had been out for a while and Kojima sits down for an interview, some interviewer asks him which ending is canon. Kojima just laughs and says they’re both canon. No matter which ending you get the entire MGS storyline plays out exactly the same. Didju rike it?
