Oh you definitely overhyped it, I know because I did the same thing coming back. Give it a week, play every day or two and you'll remember that it is as good as you thought, it just takes time for it to become apparent

If you want to roll SM Order desperately needs tanks in T3, too many WH and WP

I've got a T3 SW and RP and character scattered all over T1 and T2 if I get online I'll post here and join up and heal you or something, I'm at work now.

The way guard works now is that half the incoming damage to the guarded player goes to the tank, so the damage is split evenly. The tank then applies all of their resistances, toughness, armor etc to the split damage they receive and even have the opportunity to block or disrupt it.

So if I hit a Shaman for 100 damage but he's guarded, he takes 50 damage and his Black Orc Guard takes 50, but that 50 is mitigated by toughness and armor and can even be outright blocked

Thanks for making this thread. I loved the warhammer online, although I was underage at the time and all I could afford was the trial, and since then I kinda forgot about it. I'll make sure to check out this server as soon as I finish reading my chinese visual novel.

Yeah please do, I'll see if we can get a guild going this weekend or something so there's some sense of community. I figured christmas break would be a good time to get people to play.

The best part about RoR is it's what WAR should have been towards the end;
Laid back and F2P

There's literally nothing you can buy with real money, you can't give the devs money even if you want to, which a lot of us do. They're afraid of Games Workshop and I don't blame them.

Keep a character on both sides and play whoever has AAO and this game stays fun.

Destro almost always dominates T1 because there are some really really good players who refuse to pass T1 and so they just recycle their character every time they level out.

If you make it to T2 and T3 order is much much more organized than destro

There's somewhere between 3 and 5k players I think but the server population ranges from a low of 300 or so to 900 as the max

It's not too hard to get into, you can pick a class and dip your toe in or you can dive full force into the game and there's a lot to do.

If you don't like PvP give it a try anyways, I wasn't a big pvp player in other mmos but I absolutely love Warhammer's RvR

How's lag? When i played rvr last time it was similar to early guild wars - trains Got my fps to 1 frame per second. Is IT fixed?

Loved this game when it was out bought it on release and everything. Enjoyed doing PQ and the PVP. Want to try this server but I dont know if it will feel the same.

They recently improved latency pretty dramatically but it's not butter yet; the whole game is still in alpha

It won't but it's still WAR. Doesn't feel like a private server at all really and the devs are being super faithful with their recreation of WAR.

They haven't implemented reward bags for keep takes, defenses or PQs yet but that's on the horizon, likely before T4 release

In combat resurrection is a big part of RvR so healers are much appreciated, thanking is commonplace and socially normal.

Server is EU but there's no obvious latency issues normally, usually just lag spikes when there are tons of players in the same area (200+ fighting at once)

Read the forum posts about setting up the game so you'll be prepped if you run into any problems. I had tons of problems and then I retorrented and got a copy that worked, not sure what happened the first time.
Second install went perfectly, no hiccups at all

Okay /rorg/ I have to go to bed soon so I won't be able to bump and I doubt the thread will survive; I'll remake the thread tomorrow for sure if it falls off
