Reaching 200 hours, what's a good place to set up a personal base? I'm looking for a kind of Tech Haven vibe

Just finished the main quest through the Railroad faction.

Final quest was great, but the ending really fell flat.

Why didn't they have a concrete ending/epilogue like NV or Fallout 3? Radiant quests and respawnable enemies suck =/

Yeah a semi-unified Commonwealth with you as the head of the military would be kinda cool. The Railroad could start slowly adapting all gen 3 synths into society and providing jobs , they wouldn't need memory wipes anymore obviously. The BoS presumably would start regulating tech and kill everything, but provide a string defense. The Institute would be interesting with you at the the helm, perhaps you could choose which tech paths they focus on and determine how to treat synths.

The CPG existed before. You know how the real fucking minutemen paved the way for a government to be formed by securing the colonies from Britain? Wouldn't it make sense for the minutemen to now secure the Commonwealth from raiders, mutants, and outside forces to pave the way for a government to be formed?

It's almost like the name has historical significance. Their current goal is to make the Commonwealth safer. It should be piss easy as General to convince them that creating a legitimate government is the only way to ensure stability in light of their history and recent events in the game with BoS showing up and asking for tribute, the institute wiping out settlements, and raider gangs ceaselessly attacking them.

Is this even doable? I feel like limiting yourself to a sawed-off is pretty difficult. Anyone else tried experimenting with a Mad Max build? I'm thinking points into Lone Wanderer and using Dogmeat unless they fixed it so that using dog doesn't work anymore. No more charisma after that, but rather a focus on toughness and I guess Rifleman. I really don't like how the sawed-off is two-handed in this game and one-handed in the others.

Either for the highly improbable option of pushing for giving Synth a choice, or for propaganda once the Institute "benevolently" leads the Commonwealth.
There has to be a boogeyman, and you can pin the Synth incidents on the Railroad.

Or if you really believe that dripping water can in fact hollow out stone, as the surface cell helping the Synth adjust to their new lives.

Either way destroying them is a waste because they may be useful in the future and they pose no threat to the Institute without SS doing their work. If you look through their shit they are laughably inefficient in their guerilla ops.

The most annoying part about the crafting system has to be that there's no clear differentiation between the different tiers of armors. Unless you strip the mods there's no way to tell whether one is normal, sturdy or heavy besides looking at the DR values.

As Director you THEORETICALLY could eventually push for Synth emancipation and reverting to Gen 2's for everyday use. Numerous people in the Institute either don't care or actually believe the Synth are sentient.

With BoS you'd have to convince Maxson that the Synth can work for the good of everyone, which will also be hard as balls given his stance on the Synth and the fact he's both hard headed and eager to prove himself as Elder.

Institute problem is possible to overcome with politics and patience, BoS is mostly up to how much he really trusts you and his mood when you sit down to talk this through with him.

Either way we will never know for sure so all we can do is speculate.

Maxson isn't the problem, it's Kells. Maxson is a big old softy who can be persuaded to spare Danse. he covers it up by going i-it's mercy not t-tolerance but he's fairly well content with letting the guy be.

Kells is a lunatic hardliner. He tells you to go murder the Railroad because they MIGHT be a threat - permissible, maybe - but then he goes ahead and gives you the order to execute Brian Virgil for the sole reason that he's a mutant that Kells knows the location of

Which is why I said it'll take time or will be hard to do.
With BoS it'll be more of a momentary alliance with all bets off after Institute is blown up.
With Institute it'll take time to have higher ranking scientists adjust, as the lower tier doesn't really care for most part. And then there's the part where you have to reach out to Desdemona and her rag tag band and not have them flip out.
I choose to believe it'd be feasible in Institute+RR case and incredibly hard but doable short-term for BoS+RR.
