Yes. Everybody has it. FPS is pretty dodgy in 2.0 universe. AC and Hangar are more stable and run more fluent. Just got the 980 TI SC yesterday and had no problems running the universe. You also could try a user.cfg. That seems to help with stability and FPS for some people.

The milspec fighters which are a huge advantage, are.

If you want to fight stuff, the shitter's hornet and maybe the vangaurd are the best ships for it, by a significant margin.

Sure, there are some absolutely awful people in those ships at this stage, but that's not proof of balance.

Those ships should either be much less upgradeable (though currently the hornet has the most available upgrades) or the other, more reasonable ship should be brought up to about their level of effective health and firepower.

Currently a hornet is several times better than other "combat focused" ships, it shouldn't be more than 20% better. Better balanced ships would mean people could take more ownership of their ship and there'd be more variety of ships flown.

When the fuel system gets put in, the carrier-based fighters like the Hornet are going to get shit on.

As for crewing, I see good use for one guy as a casualized RIO and engineer combination, doing damage control as well as subsystem and navigation stuff while the pilot is occupied with flight maybe one more guy in charge of all turrets.

But after that, it's just people along for the ride.

CIG seems afraid of scaring away casual /r/pcmasterace chumps with deeper systems.

Even just DCS:FC3 (which doesn't do full clicky cockpit, can start up with just the keybind for left engine on, right engine on, electronics on) level of fidelity is too much for CIG.

We don't get a useful sensor display that would shot us contacts, their range, and their attitude all at once (albeit in a limited scope) sensors themselves are arcadey as fuck for AC, and the planned signatures are arcadey 3 flavors of the same ruleset.

CS is just plain arcade as a sensor, IR sensors do the same thing but better.

Instead you could have 2 main sensors, IR/EM.

IR is a passive system that has reduced range and can't tell the range to target, just the direction.

EM would be radar which can check range and function further than IR, but it's like a flashlight in the dark, making you obvious from all around, so many pilots turn it off most of the time. It also alerts whatever you target.

I wonder if the turret experience would be better if turrets had manual cameras on their sides that show the view to your left and right. It's not going to help you aim at shit that your turret can't rotate to but I think the main issue right now is that people feel way too confined in their tiny space and simply can't see shit. That's basically my issue with some of the HuD elements and cockpits of some ships as well. You have this beautiful world outside but you can't see shit because everything is unnecessarily cluttered.

yeah, the fantasy of it is nice. It's just highly unlikely it'll work that way in-game.

My idea was that those broad-casting ships can be repurposed for exploration and scouting. So an organization that found out about a new system with dangerous asteroid clusters decides to send in their broadcasting ships instead while they sit comfortably somewhere in a space station or on their command ship while everything that happens on the screen of the exploration ships gets transmitted as a live feed to the commando bridge.

It's a nice idea and cool fantasy. I just doubt shit like that will ever really happen. The playerbase of games like this just tends to be too retarded or unwilling to ever do anything but "looting and leveling" aka "shoot on sight, get all loot you need, get better ship, kill more people, get loot, get better ship, kill, loot, kill, loot, better ship etc.). It's the same thing that DayZ is struggling with. Player collaboration isn't something that just happens because it's a nice idea. If it isn't the most efficient route to becoming better than everyone else then no one will bother with it.
