Is there any urban combat? I like the cramped and close combat of insurgency a lot more than shooting at the black dot on the hill 400m in Arma.

Is there a good range of weapons in the game? One of the turnoffs of Insurgency is how each class only has a handful of weapons to pick from. I miss the Rainbow Six days of having dozens of rifles to pick from.

Current weapon selection is pretty limited, mostly AK and AR pattern rifles, plus a few special kits the SVD and M249. Whatever faction you're playing on their standard issue rifle is what most classes will have.

I'd recommend you watch some videos/streams and decided for yourself

The combat is mostly medium range and close range with a good amount of urban fighting, depending on the map. Engagement ranges are much closer on average than arma.

Have they said anything about adding more? I understand wanting a realistic, but I like some variety.

And it definitely makes sense in the case of the insurgent forces. They should have AKs, AKMs, AK74s, AK103s, SKSs, Mosin Nagants, M16s, ARs, and every other rifle under the sun.

I also wish games would have really nigg'd up guns.

Surprised how fast you gain the enemy detection vision for this game, brains are neat.
Item switching is very slow, which might be fine, but it often causes incorrect selections because animation finishes can sometimes override selections.
You can prep and store certain smoke grenades, which is good since the animation for the bounded smokes is insane.
Medic UX needs an overhaul, there is no indication of injury or downing on map, only in proximity compass. When you revive people they teleport. Item switch is nightmarish here.
Only played on 1 night map, never saw dawn/dusk map.
$40 is simply overpriced, but $30 preorder price was acceptable. At least it will help keep out the Mexicans.

They've got a fraction of their planned content out the door thus far.

Better 40 now with 6maps, 4factions and a ton of planned content in the immediate future than hiking the price up later.

A $40 down payment for 1-3 years worth of roadmap seems acacceptable to me. If it was a full 60 I could see it being a pain.

Its playable and fun as it is now, so why not release. I know its popular to hate on early access, but a lot of games like this and KSP would never get made otherwise. Its hard to get publishers to front the capital to make these niche titles, especially if you are a new studio.

And yes, it is basically a soft ARMA. Which is fine. ARMA goes too far with sim, it just isn't fun anymore. Sitting behind a tree shooting at another treeline 400m away for 20 minutes gets old fast.

Game is alright in its current form. Super stable and well optimized.

Insurgency mode can get boring as fuck when it turns into basebuilding and taking potshots. Nowhere near PR levels of insurgency fun. Vehicles, civilians and being able to grab cool shit from caches will probably improve this. Doesn't help that the current insurgency maps are just open country with a few obviously suspicious compounds instead of chaotic built-up areas like fallujah or basra

Regular territorial control with tickets is the most fun and gameplay seems to get going very quickly. Had a blast holding down some castle ruin in a forest map, alamo style. Constantly trading gunfire and rpgs across fields with many close encounters from flanking burgersoldiers. Also militia gorka camo looks fucking cool.

Because of the games shitty ballistics though, the AR is basically unusable past 100m. The bullet arc is so grossly exaggerated, and the bullet speed is fucking slow it feel more like you are throwing stones than shooting a gun.

Can we talk about Rally Points and how they are fucking up the pace of the game? They might as well give you the option to spawn at Squad leader. In PR rally points were very limited and used as last resort. In Squad you can spam them how many times you want and use them as an FOB. It's really ruining the pace of the game. You never know where the enemy are coming from or if they will come back after you have killed them since they can spawn 50 meters away on their Rally Point. Please someone tell me they will fix this.
