When do I get Skells for my party?

I see lots of affinity and mission icons on the grid map. Do I need to go out and explore to find them, or are they things that will pop up as I accept quests from the mission board or find gossip?

Libertas Glyph - 114 - Grind the Dark Matter Phantom Time Attack Mission, this also gives Silver Vita cores and Golden armor for mechs.

Tempus Glyph - 114 - Grind from the Wrothian Samurai Time Attack Mission.

Dialek Glyph - 114 - Grind the Wrothian Samurai Time Attack mission for these, high drop rate.

Damask Metal - 138 - Drops from Seidr enemies; recommended farming in the sky of Cauldros between Data points 505, 509, 511, and 504. They also drop Control devices, Advanced Cranks, and Upgraded/Quality Lens.

Eerie Lightning Tentacle - 66 - Drops from Rexoskell, in the cave behind forcefields in Cauldros East of data point 509.

Tempered Blade Module - 54 - Drops from Shrad enemies; go to FN 404 in Sylv, fly southwest into the cave, go clockwise from the upper ledge to the bottom area for a total of 7-8 Shrads. The Modules drop from arm breaks, so do this on foot.

All-Purpose Plug - 42 - Drops from any Galdr in Cauldros; from the Ruined City of O'rrh Sim, go south towards the giant crucible, along the west wall of the weapons hangar 4-6 will spawn and fly about.

Indeed. I enjoyed the affinity missions, but most of them are only mildly related to the main story (some not at all). Having the same 3 characters, one mute, shoehorned into every important event and the rest excluded got on my nerves. It's not like nobody else would have an opinion about the plot that affects all of them, but other than the very end nobody got to say anything.

Just looking at it without having tried it, the weapons just don't seem to synergize well from an arts standpoint. Knife pulls debuffs like sleep and control, support with a party heal and barrier, and stacking potential to complement the TP arts bukakke that raygun likes to lay down (Energy Source + Full Specs + Ether Blast for all mob-mowing needs). Unless I'm missing something, nothing in the arts lineup for psycho launchers readily stands out to me as complementing any of that.

the spherical EM motor:

efficiencyfags just crunched numbers solely for dual guns and haven't bothered to see if stacking eva on equipment will work out or not, you could give it a try but I wouldn't expect much

You're doing them wrong or you're doing the wrong one.

1. Start noctilum nights
2. Immediately get in your skell (don't actually move when you're in it) and press R to target the closest monster
3. Use a long/wide ranged AoE art (Ares' Agni Gattling is pretty good for this and doesn't use much fuel, it can kill the first three and not attract attention from the fourth one so you can immediately press R and use it again. I'm not sure if there's a weapon that can kill all four at once without needing to position yourself though. That might be better for this.)
4. Fly up to your left and kill the boss as fast as possible. Again Agni gattling alone can kill it without using that much fuel, but you don't necessarily NEED ares. The boss is easy enough to kill with that first super weapon you get probably.

All of this probably takes around 30 seconds when you start the mission, and you barely even need to move.

Arts: Gain TP XX guide.

White Mortifole feathers: Go to FN point 221 in southern Noctilum. Trigger the Mortifole one at a time; jump up and target their head-section, lock on, and kill them, one by one. Once you've done 4-5 of them, fast-travel back to the point, rinse, repeat. Be sure to jump and lock on; as while their body can drop the feathers, it drops at a reduced rate.

For Red Vigent Rock Scalp: Unfortunately, these fuckers didn't seem to have a pack that I found, so I just went to Oblivia FN 312, Between 5AM and 7PM (5-19, daytime), went north; double broke the target Berserk Vigent's skull (has two breakpoints). Each head break can drop the scalp, or blood; and the body drops it on kill at a reduced rate as well. So just double break, kill him, teleport back to 312. If the day becomes late, there is a time manip point just northwest of the FN.

Aeviter Star Wing: Travel to Sylv's FN site 406, or 408; find the sandsprint passage between the big cliff. It should be just down the hill from 406. In the passage, about half-way through, there's an opening up on the side of the wall. Fly in here, go to the back, and break the wings off the big Aeviter. When you've broke his wings, kill him, then kill his two defensive Aeviters next to him in the same manner. With the Ares 90, melee swings with the sword break the wings in 2 hits each, then hitting the tail breaks in 1~ hit. Once you've killed them, 2 should spawn near the entrance to the cavern, do the same to them. If you're the only one in the room, and behind the boss, he doesn't really seem to attack you.

An Ether Katana (pic related) drops from the Tyrant deep in the cave near Noctilum FN point 209, in the rust pool in the cave, a small crack is in the wall in the water, follow the path to the back. Be sure to break his tail(s) and kill him in a really short amount of time, as he is very powerful, goes invincible, will sleep and control you.

Level 60 gravity kata at FN 307 Tyrant.

I mean it's a horse a piece; if you fast-travel, it's a click on the gamepad; returning to skell makes you need to navigate menus. You can set-up the fast travel during the loot screen, can't do so with the skell bit. That's good advice for other things like the cave, though.

So, every mim is in truth a sentient life, similar to the humans they were modelled towards? From what happened, this is pretty much what I got out of it.
Mims were supposed to be the bodyguards for the Lifehold core and the ECP as a whole, and to ensure it doesn't fail. They've got the means of creating biological life within it, but since the system archiving their consciousness was destroyed, it seems that along the way they became life on their own, as Lao says right as he turns into the chimera.
I mean, if there's anyone we can trust, ironically, it's Lao. He seemed to be aware of pretty much everything that was going on, and accepted his role as mim once he realized he's very much alive despite his robotic body. Still, they CAN create humans, and it seems pretty much everything gets a soul in Mira, so I hope the sequel touches upon the divide between flesh and blood humans and their robotic counterparts, but at least mims are far more interesting than realians.
