what do you guys do to level affinities with all the various characters? I'm finding it difficult to get character affinities to what they need for specific quest quickly. I dragged doug around for two days doing as many missions as i could find to get to his mission and now i'm finding almost every affinity mission i have left are ones for characters that i have 0 affinity with. Is there a more efficient way to get those hearts up faster or am i stuck trudging scrubbies for a couple days to do their 3 minute long affinity mission?

Not the OP who mentioned it, but I played through most of the game using shock combo shit, and you can definitely do some silly numbers. Doubt you can beat skell super weapon numbers, but definitely did very similar damage with/without the skell otherwise. Overdrive also became pretty silly.

Does anyone have any sort of math about how much damage reduction resistances actually give you/enemies? Blossom Dance is generally considered so strong because of it's inherent ability to ignore resistances, but is it something that could be offset by a Resistance Down skill? Telethia has 50 resistance to all elements, what level of Resistance Down would I need to offset that?

It's nice to have 10-20 Physical/Beam, the rest are usually too uncommon to be an issue.
Orphean gear is good to have 1-2 pieces of for the extra evasion and gravity resist later on, low DEF is offset by not being an idiot.

Don't worry too much about it unless you're hunting specific high threat Tyrants/bosses.

I understand huge seamless open worlds its expected textures suffer to some degree, but is there any technical reason for low res textures in some of the small areas separated by loading?

Med/Light armor is viable if you aren't facetanking and/or you're using mixed pieces of Orphean armor to offset gravity weakness.

PSA: Balduhino the Wicked-Eyed in northern Noctilum drops some INSANELY good gear. The damage of properly positioned melee (especially both Commando lines) outweighs the risk

Level 20 Skell is a POS for combat but a very good mobility boost.
Cruising across water with a Skell feel so good, epsecially if you're trying to reach areas around Noctilum like FN 223 (tiny beach on the outside)

While flying to the very bottom right of the hexagon, you'll notice a HUGE pit of lava, with a tyrant coming out of it. Fly down and you'll see a cave, go into and loot all the field lootables. One of them will contain a blueprint to this weapon.

Okay, so when i got my first shitty lvl20 skell, i felt 10x more powerful, my party would die and id finish the fight. Now, doing random missions and whatnot after chapter 7, i cant win pretty much any fight in ground combat, so i bought a new skell and gave the shitty one to elma, and im grinding some party members to lvl30 (im lvl34, most party members are mid/late 20s because i was getting all their affinity up and switching them out). My train of thought was i was handling my party members wrong by not keeping them leveled with me, and you're meant to switch to skells around this point in the game - but ive read the thread and seen people saying skells are weaker then ground combat and theyre mostly for water/air and exploration.

Whos wrong? Am i wrong? Im 70 hours in and I still dont feel like i really understand the game. I keep my party geared with the latest from the store, i upgrade their arts and skills, try to spec them. Like, when I was using Irina she would always fucking die, every fight, without fail, and I could never ever figure out why?

Any one have any tips? Any thoughts on my rant?

Dual Guns have piss DPS but the utility is undeniably good.

Just bring Elma/Lin along at all times doing normal/story missions so you can clear Story missions and then have room to dick around with the others later on in affinity missions

Don't worry about affinity (cept for Lao), you can farm it out post-game easily.
Lao has missable Heart 2 Hear missions but they don't count towards 100%, easier to just keep Lao on the team 24/7 and clean up his H2Hs before chapter 7.

It's good for solo enemies and therefore bosses, not so much against groups. But Primer is the art you want to spam in overdrive. Much shorter cooldown, doubling and tripling just means you can cast it again without waiting and it also gives you TP.

I actually have Lin specced exactly like that, she's my best party member, and feels about as powerful as me. It's elma and 4th person (Gwin atm) that just fucking die. I tried using Irina and kitting her out as support but she just died.

I dont feel like I have any issues personally in combat, I can keep myself alive and my dps good, and Lin can tank, but whoever else I have with my usually dies on any serious fight, especially if its a bigger creature like a Cinicula, it just does it's AoE stomp a few times and it's over.

So lets talk about the ending a bit.

Didn't like how a whole lot of plot was shoved into the last chapter. Would have loved to uncover a bit of the Samarian prophecy earlier on. The whole gangleon motivation in general was pretty weak but not terrible or anything. Also Loa needed more scenes, I think we were supposed to care for him a lot more than I actually did. Sure he lost his family to an unfair system but he was literally going to "Kill" all remaining humans because of it and the game expects me to forgive him because of his sad story. Even when he came back playing the good guy I didn't much like him (and now I'm a little pissed he comes back in the end credits).

Overall I enjoyed the ending we got. The lifestream twist was pretty alright and poses a good philosophical question. But my favorite twist was at the end where it's revealed that their old consciousness were destroyed but they arent dead because of the planet somehow. Which echos a question from chapter 5 I think, which is why all the alien races can communicate with each other in thier own tongue. Quite interesting. Of course it's a little sequel baitey but I'm okay with it. In the next game I just hope we get stronger storytelling (and a less bullshit final series of bosses).

Tied with bloodborne for my Game of the Year though.

White Mortifole feathers: Go to FN point 221 in southern Noctilum. Trigger the Mortifole one at a time; jump up and target their head-section, lock on, and kill them, one by one. Once you've done 4-5 of them, fast-travel back to the point, rinse, repeat. Be sure to jump and lock on; as while their body can drop the feathers, it drops at a reduced rate.

For Red Vigent Rock Scalp: Unfortunately, these fuckers didn't seem to have a pack that I found, so I just went to Oblivia FN 312, Between 5AM and 7PM (5-19, daytime), went north; double broke the target Berserk Vigent's skull (has two breakpoints). Each head break can drop the scalp, or blood; and the body drops it on kill at a reduced rate as well. So just double break, kill him, teleport back to 312. If the day becomes late, there is a time manip point just northeast of the FN.

Aeviter Star Wing: Travel to Sylv's FN site 406, or 408; find the sandsprint passage between the big cliff. It should be just down the hill from 406. In the passage, about half-way through, there's an opening up in the air. Fly in here, go to the back, and break the wings off the big Aeviter. When you've broke his wings, kill him, then kill his two defensive Aeviters next to him in the same manner. With the Ares 90, melee swings with the sword break the wings in 2 hits each, then hitting the tail breaks in 1~ hit. Once you've killed them, 2 should spawn near the entrance to the cavern, do the same to them. If you're the only one in the room, and behind the boss, he doesn't really seem to attack you.

My Katana drops from the Tyrant deep in the cave near Noctilum FN point 209, in the rust pool in the cave, a small crack is in the wall in the water, follow the path to the back. Be sure to break his tail(s) and kill him in a really short amount of time, as he is very powerful, goes invincible, will sleep and control you.

Ghost factory is very good, it's just that the AI can have issues managing their TP. Try not to give anyone more than 2 TP arts, including their aura. Even with that they'll often be too low to use them in clutch situations, so you might want to command them to build tension (it's r+right d-pad or something). The last 5 augments were my armor augments; weapons only have 3 each. Missed the proper label there.

Armor is just random shitty level 60 crap, helm is potential up & boost XII, Stun: Barrier XII
I have TP rebound V on it as I've nothing better for it yet.
Chest: Reginal Armor, heavy wear, since it has Melee attack bonus. Will likely replace with potential gear when I find some.
Arm L: Melee Attack Up XII, Underdog Surge XII. Grabbed because Melee.
Arm R: Melee Attack Up XII, Phys res up XII, again, grabbed because Melee.
Legs: Reginal Legwear, heavy war, because nothing better has dropped.

A lot of the tips youve been giving me are things ive already been doing, i learned pretty quick the AI are shit at TP so they all have Aura and 1 TP move at most. The TP question was more in regards to me as a player, are TP moves worth using or is it always better to save for overdrive?

Half the time I dont bother using my aura tosave TP.

Oh, and about the "Build your tension" command, i thought this was to get your party to save for overdrive, so I'd never use the command out of fear that the AI wouldnt use their auras or TPmoves.

You can have as many as you think you can manage, but in practice going over 2 and actually using them is difficult unless you specifically set yourself up to generate tons of TP with skills, augments and other arts.

Leave it to the Xeno team to get some great twists and philosophical stuff in that I wasn't expecting. A lot of this took me by surprise. And I'm a lot more happy with the end than I was hoping.

Sniper Rifle is good for appendage breaking but Javelin is several times better for DPS (especially with FMJ skills to boost it even more).
It sounds like you want the Enforcer>Blast Fencer>Mastermind line, but don't try going for it without another class's weapons to slog though Enforcer/Blast Fencer

Anyways, some general purpose Augments YOU SHOULD MAKE:

Terrain Damage Reducer XX - takes no real materials
Negate Reflection for your skells/Ground elements. Again, doesn't take much materials, isn't always needed; if it is, easy to switch in and out.

Extend Overdrive XX: An extra 25s makes pretty much anything viable for Overdrives; your combinations can be a bit sloppy, and you'll live.

Positional Damage Augments for your Skell Frame: These are extremely helpful; for most battles you can get above an enemy without too much hassle. Above is far easier to grind than behind, but both are fairly viable.

Slayer.(type) XX augments for your preferred grinding: I recommend getting a few or more of these, especially for mechanoids, as you'll be grinding a lot of these for parts/weapons for your frames/superweapons/augments/regular weapons, and you'll pretty much always be in the market to do better. Materials drop from pretty much everything under the sun, mainly Qmoevas and shit.

I know I had some other shit to recommend, but I forgot, we'll see.

What are you supposed to do in The Savage Protector? They just keep respawning.

That's why the infinite Overdrive coupled with a few Max TP XX augments is invaluable. When each skill gives 200 TP, on top of any gained through skills/auto-attacks, you can stay in your Overdrive forever, using TP attacks willy-nilly.

It's the reason why Wels (aka Verus, with 200 potential) is so fierce while still being a light Skell.
