Since the devs have been doing supervised raid tests and fixing up vanilla raids (AQ40 at the moment) and there hasn't been updates in Github recently, it's difficult to extrapolate, but the release almost certainly won't be for another five months or so, but depending on a lot of unknowns (how much time developers spend on the project, how difficult some of the remaining bugs turn out to be to debug and fix, what kind of shape exactly do they want the server to be in before release), anything after that is very much plausible, although it could be much more than that as well (for example, the death of developers would postpone it indefinitely).

Well, the only ones that matter in this regard are the developers and they started the project because they want to play on a complete server (and actually play, not work on the server to get to their desired standard post-release).

And anyway, I certainly prefer it this way, too. And you know what? The test server is currently available. TBC raids are for supervised groups only but besides serious mechanics-testing, I've ran a good deal of heroics, arena skirmishes etc. Just look for groups in the IRC channel.

Just in case someone isn't aware: The bug is that kicking a shadow school spell does not lock the mob out of using shadow school spells. It's supposed to be locked out for 5 seconds but you see the mob casting again after ~3 seconds. Since this happens for all mobs, all schools and all spells this is in fact a broken kick, despite what some may attempt to claim.

All in all it's a database error that is a simple but time consuming fix, if someone provided them with a spell/school list they would probably do it, otherwise nah.

No, the server uses the DBC files extracted from client MPQ archives to know what effects, schools, etc spells have (among other things)
So changes to your client won't do anything or will just make your UI show incorrect information.

In some cases mangos doesn't verify what the client sends, and then this could work, but for spells cooldowns that is not the case.

I'm replying to the guy that said the server uses that file for the spells and all their info. Weather or not a spell is interruptable is part of one of the attribute fields (Field1-10), all the spells in the game are within this file, even spells that are named the same but used by different mobs with different attributes on them.

I'm using this website as reference, it seems to have plenty of info regarding those files.

But that's completely irrelevant. Whether or not a spell can be interrupted is a separate issue. In the video the server obviously decided the spell should be interruptible, because it got interrupted. The server also knew the school of that spell, so it should have locked the mob from casting spells of that school. But it didn't do that, because kick is broken and spell school interruptions for mobs aren't implemented. If they work on some mobs the only explanation is that they hacked it on top of the boss script, which is dumb as fuck.

After all, most players have played on retail besides private servers and might even have participated on different private servers with different classes on top of that (ie. the class they currently play might not even be their best one). After all these years it's expected that veteran players are intimately familiar with a bunch of classes so a group of officers (hopefully) chosen through their general ability, loyalty and leadership skills likely have intimate knowledge of every class between them, or certainly enough knowledge to tell where to look or who to ask on the cases where they don't know the exact details.

Class leaders distribute the leadership over too many people and since it's very much possible the best player in the class/role isn't playing that class/role in the current server, it undermines the authority of the leaders as a while and gives the guild an unmeritocratic atmosphere.
