So, I've been thinking. Overall factions should be pretty evenly distributed skill-wise, right? It is only logical. However it is apparently not the case with NKeks. Here is an example.

40% pop on Esamir a few days ago. You'd think NC would dominate the continent? Nope. Air around battlefields was filled with TR and Vanu aircrafts.
As soon as NC pulled a few ground vehicles (other than throwaway sunderers) they got instantly demolished. Perhaps someone would organize a group of reavers to counter air? Nope. I genuinely wondered where the fuck is NC and what they are doing. (It is a question that I regularly ask myself).
Turns out they keep pouring out of sunderers near enemy bases and get promptly slaughtered. Why is NC's behavior so different and disorganized? They can't ALL be deficient obviously?..

Well, I am part of NC and together with a buddy we pulled a walker sunderer and put it next to a single non-retarded NC in a vanguard who did a decent job at popping ESFs. Then two libs and several airshitters came at once. This happened after a swarm of these faggots chased our poor harasser across several bases.

Honestly, I am baffled. It is not possible for the majority of players on a single side to be so bad. Another example.

We pull a vanguard at crossroads and several hundred meters away get attacked by two lolpodders. NC pop at crossroads is 12-24. You'd think that at least one of them would be sitting in an AA turret? NOPE. However while flying a lib I can't cross a 1-12 base without some autists shooting flak in my direction. This is has been a joke between my friend and me for years now.

I know it sounds like an anecdote but this happens so consistently over the years of playing PS2 that you begin to genuinely believe it despite any logic.

NC are disproportionately represented at the lower end of the ELO bell curve. Most NC you see are going to be worse than your average TR or VS player. In the graph, this is the sea of bads.

What we can guesstimate based on the data is that the NC hold a majority in suck, but also manage to hold their own in the islands of fun with VS.

Keep in mind that this graph is logarithmic - the islands of fun total ~ 8,000 players; while the entire sea of bads is ~100,000.

ELO style rating systems aren't perfect of course, but at least by this metric we can see that, yes, NC really do mostly suck at the game. We can also see VS dominate the very upper end of the curve, but this is around 10-20 people. Pretty much statistically meaningless to the rest.

NC lacks a 'zerg wrangler' outfits. On my VS and TR alts I've noticed there's always an outfit insuring big battles have several well placed sundys and armor/air support if needed.

This creates a nice environment for your average player to spawn into, so they're more likely to stick around and fight for that hex.

This pretty much never happens on my NC alt. Its always up to individuals to say 'ok fuck it' and then go pull a sundy or AA or w/e.

I'd be willing to set up an outfit that helps in this regard but the game is dead and I'd have to designate much more time to my NC alt.

tl;dr kill guys better than you, you rank up. Get killed by guys worse than you, you rank down. The bigger the difference in rating between the two, the greater the change in rating.

So if you farm a lot of bads, it doesn't do much to change your rating. But if you farm a bunch of good players who are all rated higher than you are, you'll rocket up.

The bases themselves are garbage and if I have to try to feel my way through one more three-level base with a flat minimap that no one has ever explored because it's off in some far corner by the warpgates and there's only one spawn room that doesn't even have a pain field around it I'm going to tear my hair out.

You're slightly above average. Don't fret over it though, since higher ranking doesn't necessarily mean better player. Play to have fun and do whatever you feel like. I am at 1800-1900 and I've managed to go above 2000 only once when I did nothing but sit in a tank and farm randoms for an entire day(almost 0 deaths, so the rank could only rise). It didn't feel rewarding though. I have 700+ hours playtime and 95% of that is infantry. Just keep playing the way you like and buy weapons and ability upgrades. You don't need to learn how to use vehicles if you don't want to.

It's absolutely worthless if it's using your total accuracy and HSR, because medic guns and engitools count as firing and missing when you use them, which means anyone who plays a lot of engineer or medic has terrible IVI.

And because infiltrator weapons are generally high damage and accuracy, they'll inflate your IVI score.

I don't think there's anything we can do. I'm pretty sure that the reason most people obsess over stats is because improving them is the only goal they can set in this meaningless game. That's DBGs fault, not yours.

When you realize that you have zero impact on the outcome of the battle and that it's all a matter of population instead of teamwork or individual skill, you lose all motivation to play. People need something to work for and to be rewarded for their effort. Planetside 2 might be unique, complex and beautiful but it's dying because there are very few things that make it feel rewarding. It's not that much the quality or the complexity of the game that makes players stick to it, as it is the challenge that it presents you with. CS: GO and DotA 2, the 2 games that literally everyone seems to play are very basic and simple but managed to become huge successes because climbing in rank is a very slow process.

What is there to do in Planetside 2 to feel rewarded? The only thing that makes you feel good is maybe to grind for the directives and get your rewards in the form of shiny armor. When you get those, the only thing that's left to do to feel good about yourself is to improve your stats. You don't need XP or guns or anything, since you've unlocked them already.

DPI for your mouse should be whatever the native resolution for the sensor is.

If you use something other than the native resolution, the mouse uses software to interpolate, which isn't perfect and can cause issues at really high DPI settings.

Isn't it interesting how, on Emerald, with the Orion getting mildly nerfed and the Gatekeeper being the latest FoTM, almost all the shit-talkers seem to have shown up on TR?

Suddenly the TR doesn't seem to be willing to get stuck in on fights anymore- they'll try a ghost cap and the second it gets stopped they'll redeploy. If they succeed in a ghost cap, or at least get the spawn so camped that at even numbers the defenders can't push out, they start spewing shit in /yell. They very rarely did this before. They've started doing things like dropping 6 MAX units into a 12 v 12 fight, or bringing multiple battle galaxies or a swarm of repair/ammo sunderers to small, under defended outposts too. It is like they've decided they hate fun. They suddenly also seem to roll around with 40%+ server pop much of the time too, especially during off hours. I also seem to be getting insta-gibbed by sudden packets of damage showing up, in many cases before the firer has actually come around the corner on my screen. Only from players with under BR40 and packing 1000+ directive points though.

I wonder if that is some kind of coincidence?

He gives you a very easy to use default LMG, everything you ever wear will ride up your crotch, and the most fun weapon in his inventory will get you weaponlocked in about 30 seconds.

After playing all three, I like FREEDOM the best personally. Big boolet is best boolet.

It's decent thanks to 0.75 Ads, because 0.75 Ads is balanced.
Use either Reaper or GRB for middle range. Reaper has insane cone of fire and atrocious bloom, but it's very accurate recoil wise so you need to make every shot count.
With GRB you don't have to think about COF at all, but it's a burst gun so might not be for you.
