reposting idea for undertale 2

"Protagonist is actually the player, and dies at the beginning of the game shotly after you finish the tutorial. Boss Monster (or maybe regular monster) child unrelated to Asriel, Toriel, or Asgore finds your fresh corpse and accidentally absorbs your SOUL. After you two get acquainted or you take him the fuck over to start your genocide run and a bit more tutorial shit happens (Button to talk to the Boss Monster kid similar to Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, or something), you learn that somewhere in the country there's someone with more DETERMINATION than the both of you RESETting, multiple times, and you both somehow remember it. Game becomes a weird Majora's Mask-style time puzzle thing where every X days (Or during certain scripted events) a reset happens.
During genocide route you just kill everyone, and no resets ever happen because your DETERMINATION outweighs the mystery man. Trying to talk to your Monster Child host during genocide route will either get him begging you to stop using him to hurt everyone, him crying, or just silence with a strong sense of fear coming from his part of your shared SOUL.

Undertale 2 wouldn't make sense if it had to pick and choose the timelines you could have from your choices.

The quantity of 'power' in Undertale is kind of ambiguous.

Undyne can resurrect herself (once), which is fucking insane.

Gaster is literally outside of time, which means whatever happens he's not actually affected (unless you go genocide).

Sans is just plain skilled.

Asriel becomes god.

Flowey becomes a twisted interpretation of god.

It's up to interpretation.

Sans is a total glass cannon. Even if he has more HP than datamining would suggest, he still only has 1 attack and 1 defense. And I think it's implied that his Karmic Retribution damage only works on the truly evil too.

He's the best there is against a genocidal player because he breaks all of the games rules and understands a lot more than anyone else, but against another monster I'm really not sure.

Yea but that doesn't mean "Frisk" just disappears into the void. Chara existed for thousands of years before they latched onto Frisk. I would assume that Chara stealing their SOUL just means they're sort of 'trapped' in their own body.

The latter is the jist of it. His abilities are basically tailored to the way Chara fights, with karmic damage and his ability to dodge their one attack per turn, if he had to go head to head with any other powerhouse then he wouldn't last long enough to do much.

Fish is probably the strongest in general, with innate determination, ability to throw out tons of attacks, and the highest stats.

A lot of lonely people in Undertale, huh.

Toriel's been camping out in the ruins for who knows how long and is desperate for company, along with trying to save you from her ex.
Papyrus has very few friends, which is why he's so insistent on becoming a very popular royal guardsman.
Sans has nobody that understands what he's going through, except for maybe the kid that might reset the world at any moment.
Undyne seems like she has a lot of friends, come to think of it.
Alphys is deathly afraid of being left alone, to the point of manipulating others and hiding her sins and suffering so that the few people she has won't abandon her, to the point she'd rather kill herself than let that happen.
Asgore could've had 6 cool human friends if he hadn't killed them all. Japes aside, he's still torn up over Toriel leaving and the death of his children.
Mettaton probably acts like it's lonely at the top.

I've said this before, but in the game, the power of the monsters is not determined by their stats, it's by their attitudes.

For example, Toriel is the most powerful enemy in the game (excluding Asgore), but she has almost zero will to fight, so she's not that powerful.

On the other hand, Undyne is the weakest monster in the game (excluding Sans, which I'll get to) but she has spent her whole life training, and that's why she is so intimidating to fight

Papyrus is stronger than Undyne, but as mentioned by her, he's a big softie and doesn't have the will to hurt you, thus he is not threatening and literally can't kill you

Finally, Sans is literally the weakest monster in the game with 1 in every stat, but he's also the most fearsome, as he abuses loopholes as stated in >>125320528

It's Toby's subtle message that it's not your given abilities that determine who you are, it's your attitude and how you use those skills.

Am I the only one who thinks Asriel/Flowey in the game (not the original child, he was a cutie) is and always will be some kind of demon? Including when he becomes kid Asriel again?
What if becoming Asriel again and tugging at your heartstrings was simply another manipulation to let him live? He tried every other way and when nothing was working he opened the barrier then used your greatest strength (and weakness), compassion, to stop you from hurting him.
Now, underworld is empty, the barrier is gone, and Flowey has access to the power of the core.

Unfortunately I've personally seen that the opposite can also be true. Tumblr likes to abuse the term "gaslighting" but I've seen it happen in my own home.
