can't remember when the nagase drop was over but I got the shinden the day after that, I used some research tokens (or whatever they call them) for the first 2 levels then I just played normally after that (6 sorties/day) except for the the 2 emergency sorties I got during in which I used 3 stocked by accident, which might have helped boost it faster than I expected.

Last day for the Nagase drop was only 2 weeks ago. I guess the raids helped you out a lot because after I reached the middle of the tree, it started taking me 30 sorties to finish up even one node/one aircraft level, despite pretty much all of my planes being under level 6.

My Flanker is only level 5 and I'm still only getting like 4% research per sortie. For aircraft parts, I'm only getting 2% per sortie, sometimes 4% if I'm really lucky.

It is I, The eternal disappointer, with with yet more news!

After digging around into Planes & Mercs, I've decided that it's maybe not the best fit for running ace combat. It's entirely too autistic (not that I mind,) but between that and Roll20 being entirely unsuitable (I'm going to look into the viability of vassal) It seems like it'd be a colossal pain to try and play in real time. Like maybe a handful of turns in a multi hour session, with 90% of the delay being in updating the visual representation.

That leaves the option of play by post, and while we're dedthread enough that it could work, it's also something I am not the fondest of due to potential for flaking and slow speed. (Seriously, It'd be updated like once a day, or even less.)

That being said, I personally just think the firestorm ruleset is not well suited for what I want, and possibly what you guys want.

But don’t fear, I’m going to look into the possibility of coming up with a ruleset (probably stolen equally in parts from firestorm, air war, and maybe aerotech or something crazy) that will allow for faster, simpler, and hopefully more intuitive play with an accompanying lite RPG ruleset that hopefully won’t be too complex.

Anyways, if the demand for a PBP game (with the existing Firestorm ruleset) in the thread is enough, I’ll give it a try, provided that all parties involved understand there’s a very high chance of disappointment, shame, and going down in flames. I’d have to restrict the number of players we’d start with to 4.

In the meantime, I’ll be looking into the possibility of cobbling together what I described above.

Let me know what you guys think and I’ll go from there.

There are two types of manuevers, standard maneuvers you can activate anytime. and combat maneuvers that are similar to the Ace Combat 3D dogfight mechanic. You are 100% correct about everything although the player base isn't TOO bad. It's pretty awful but compared to other games I've played, it's relatively decent but still fucking atrocious most of the time.

It's worth playing for one week because the game play is great and it's pretty damn fun, but the grind fest and eternal Jew quickly suck all enjoyment out.

well so much for trying to get back into this game, Bamco has made it literally impossible for new players to win or at the very least feel like they're contributing.

My highest ranked plane is 1300 cst which is a level 6 T-50 and I simply can't do anything to help my team achieve the goal, i kill maybe 20 targets the whole match because I'm either too slow or too underpowered to score any kills before everyone else steamrolls an area with carpetbombed superweapons dropped from futuristic superplanes.

Not to mention the introduction of several thousand different items that I have no idea how to use and lobby leaders that kick at the first sign of 1800+ matching rate.

How do I git gud again /aceg/?

New player here and always go to rooms with similar matching rate and its 50/50, either people will be using alright (but still overleveled by my standards) planes or they steamroll everything so fast that I might as well afk because every time I turn to face a target 5+ missiles crash into it the second I press circle.
Last time I got 3000 points because the FIGHTERS were going super fucking hard after the ground targets for no reason and my slow ass multirole just couldn't keep up with them reaching faster and taking out targets all the time.

Rolling your jet actually has some momentum and heft to it, it's not snappy and rigid like the PS2 games. You can pull sharper turns because of high-g maneuvers though.

So I'm playing AC6 for the first time, and I have to say now very impressed so far.

It runs like shit for one.
The story telling is abysmal. Its the same story as AC04, but told in the worst way possible, through a woman I give zero fucks about.

4 and Zero nailed their story telling. Both were more or less indirect, neither narrator having a direct impact on anything happening in the story. It worked because it wasn't the same old, "We did this, so now this happens"

6 appears to try to emulate 4, by having you follow someone being affected by the war, but damn is it just so bad. I hope 7 is better.

If anything, low MR players NOT kicking 2000+ MR players is a testament to how bad the community has gotten. If your MR is that high, you're kind of a dick for even thinking of joining a low MR room, although the host shouldn't have made the room searchable by high MRs if he didn't want them to join.

I understand why low MR would want high MR players, because they might value the higher chance of S rank.

However, the high MRs dipping into such rooms are still assholes. They are most likely shitters that would steal all the points from the rookies and not actually work with them.

I am 2000+ MR, and I would only join a 1800 room out of complete desperation, and even then, I would only bring out my piston, which actually makes the match relatively even. I haven't joined 1700 since I was in the 1850s

Yeah and the guy complaining that the game discriminates against new players is bullshit. If anything, they have made it easier for new players to jump in since it's now relatively cheap to take a shitplane to level 10 or higher, where it's viable even against high MRs.

If you're a 2000 MR player who hasn't played in a year, then instead of joining low MR rooms and getting mad when you get kicked, join one of the million rooms at your own MR. Your ranking will tank and you will very quickly end up in the bracket where you belong.

I just took my piston to B7R cost-restricted, and MVPd with 80k. Nothing to be proud of, though. I had a favourable spawn, and we had 2 nuggets, one on each team, they both scored about 40k.

I think the host was running ASF-X, not sure of what level though, but he got 60k.

If it had been 6aams, it probably would have been me in that 40k score bracket.
