Security isn't elevated above anyone else, that's your insecurity complex. Security is on the station to help and to protect players. When the clown decides he wants to smash your windows or when a tatortot breaks in to singuloose, that's what they're there for.

Not to mention how easy it is to dodge tasers and how every job on the station has easy access to stuns, many of which are more desirable than a taser in the first place. I would gladly take a super obvious taser bolt flying at me over getting scrub gloved by an engineer who I can't even see the gloves on their sprite or examine because of the hardsuit.

I've not conclusively proven this but anecdotally I'm 100% confident that no one wants to be the first security player and be alone. If you join when there are no sec then soon after more will join and by the end of the shift the department will be full.

Unlike Medbay where you can just power through it, or Engineering where being alone isn't really that bad, or science/service where it hardly matters, when you're alone as security its nervy as fuck. Antags are going to try to crack you because you have no backup and you both know it.

But if you bite the bullet then more players will always arrive. No one wants to be the first one but once that first guy arrives, suddenly there's a reason to play Warden, or Detective.

This is nothing uncommon and it happens to AFK players quite often. Even admins sometimes get drafted when we don't want to. This leads us to compensating via the give spell verb in VV which is a load of shite anyhow since it only works half of the time.

THE MEDBAY CROWBAR POWERGAMING CONUNDRUM
Medbay is one of the most likely places to be breached (and before some atmosian autismal extraordinarie gets his panties in a knot I'm talking about a fucking breach here, not some epic plasmafire), and Medbay has the peculiarity to be the department that is the most isolated from any tools. If you want tools as a doctor, you need to get out of your department to get 'em, and Medbay is a job that you can't really walk away from, especially in hectic shifts.
Thus, it often comes to the point where Medbay is breached, firelocks close down, and between all doctors in Medbay, not a single one of them has a crowbar to open them. And Medbay is probably the job that is the most justified in forcing these locks open: You NEED to put this guy in Cryo or he dies, you NEED to get to the chemfridge to get the shit you need, you NEED to clone these people now because it's probably the only time you have to do so before the shuttle gets called for the fucking wizard. But you can't do any of that right now, you're just trapped inside the hallway because you can't open any firelocks.

The solution to this is a simple, but a very ugly one. You essentially just powergame for tools at the start of every shift. You walk away from your desk, you stop making the cryomix or the alkysine or whatever have you, and you trek halfway across the station to get a blue toolbox. It's simple, but it's a really ugly thing to be doing.
Honorable mention to motherfucking Ririchiyo for making clonepods require a multitool to be linked (WHY?), which you won't even be able to get unless you powergamed tool storage right at roundstart to beat t he assistants. You want to fuck with the entirety of Medbay? Literally just unlink the clonepod.

I've got the machine part of my autosurgeon done, interface is in a constant state of evolution but whats really got me stumped for now is the actual surgery. It can be built so thats done, got it set for lv5 bio and 3 engineering or something like that.

I'm fairly certain I'm going to skirt around most of it and just use codemagic to slap a sleep timer on the process and then instantly take care of whichever surgical procedure is selected.

For now it's just a trannymachine as all it can do is genderswaps until i get more shit like limb repair/replacement done.
