So, my amigos and I just got offline raided on official 79, only 1 person was online to defend. It took them 4 hours to break into our main base with a giga, 3 battle quetz's and over 200 C4 with RPG turrets and grenades. (we were build on an unbreakable rock)

Luckily my bro scorched everything before they got inside. But we lost a solid 2 months work and a ton of dinos/turrets. You only need the ingredients to craft your custom consumables, they don't inherit that weight.
If you gave yourself 1130 crafting speed after a mindwipe, while a recipe with only 4 dodo eggs (that are absolutely easy to obtain every hour if you just have a few of them) gives you 278.5 food, HP and stamina. And while each dodo egg weights 3 or 4 kgs, the custom dish you get only weights like 0.1. It's the most cost-efficient thing and you can carry a lot of them around.

If the Rex had 60 times the life it has (same for most other dinos), then the Gigano would still be crazy powerful, but the game wouldn't be unbalanced.

What's a bunk bed? Basically a double bed with some metal in it. A normal bed requires 15 wood, 80 thatch, 30 fiber, 40 hide. A bunk bed requiring more metal than a fucking Quetzal platform saddle is unbalanced. Is it so completely superfluos only bored endgame players with no problems to conjure metal will make one to fancy up their rooms? Yes. But the point is, is still unbalanced.

I specifically made a whole post comparing it to other things to show that the point is not that it's hard to do, but it's *unbalanced*.

I literally own the blue mountain and leave a resident ankylo and doed there with a quetzal with 4 forges on it that I use to go back and forth from there to the volcano, trust me when I say that metal is absolutely not a problem for me.

Unbalanced means that the current resources breakdown for a bunk bed would be 100% fine if you needed, say, 40 metal ingots to make a bed and 320 for a special one.
The devs have seen how people who reach endgame look bored and added tons of shit specifically for them -mosa, quetzal, gigano and other structures, BUT they forgot to rebalance the game around that.

If you're curious as to why the server was down, here goes:
Today's mini-patch for ARK today, which ironically introduced more server optimization, required the server updated. I therefore updated it, only to then find out that the update broke the Valhalla map. I then waited until the developer released a fix for the Valhalla map and finally updated the map.

Everything should be working normally now. Sorry for the downtime, as you can see, even the smallest of ARK patches can mess stuff up. Hopefully the server optimizations they introduced are actually noticeable!

Sabers are manegeable, but when they put the direwolves in the game their solutions for making them different from the saber was to create a glass cannon. So a wolf has the same attack a spino has, except, you know, they come in packs. I just watched two things I'm taming teleport 10 feet into th ocean and when I woke them up with stims the couldn't get back onto the beach cause it was to steep.

All the good dinosaurs have 2-3 spawn areas on the huge as fuck map and no chance to spawn anywhere else. Want a sarcopod? Well better hope you set up on the NW side of the map otherwise it's going to be at least an hour before you get there. Sure you could use a pteradon, but it will just die and leave you stranded. Want a turret to defend you base? Well hope you have 500 oxygen to get to the bottom of the ocean for those pearls. Hope nothing attacks on the way back! You could use a shark/icthy but since the ocean is huge and fucking empty you will spend hours trawling the coastline looking for one above level 12. Oil? pfft whoever heard of finding that on land? fuck you go to the bottom of the ocean again. The only reason you people like is because it's spread out you don't have to PvP and can pretend you're still hardcore for playing on a PvP server.

So between Ark updates, Valhalla updates, and server host restarts, there is a hell of alot of interrupts for the service.

The admins are good but Valhalla and the current host provider is shit-tier.
It's bad enough having to take servers down 1-3 times a week just for vanilla Ark updates, having mod updates and shitty servers is making NFA PVP have downtime twice as often, it's cutting into primetime gaming hours and leaves a bitter taste in people's mouth when they log on after a long day only to find their favorite server is down once again.

Have you tried carrying people using an Argent on this map? The bugs are starting to crop up and I fear they will only get worse as time goes on. There is also the possibility the creator/s of Valhalla may abandon the project altogether making us lose all our work again but this time for an even shittier reason.

What I liked about the old map is that they have dinos spawn rarely, but often enough, in other biomes than their natural one. This doesn't happen on Valhalla at all. Every coastline is riddle with trikes, turtles, and dilos and not much else. Going anywhere to find anything is an hours long process, The game is grindy enough as it is with out having to travel for an hour just start looking for what you need.

If you're lucky you find a decent level shark. If you're not it takes ages the spawn so infrequently in the fuck huge ocean it can take forever to find one. I even lowered my standards and started looking for ones in their 40s rather than 80+ and never found one when I was actually capable of taming it.

Further more it sucks having to shut down the server, update ark, shut down the server, then update valhalla 15 minutes later.

I've been trying to get things ready for when the rest of my friends can join me, but ever since I found need for pearls I have hit a wall. The constant sever shutdowns have cost me my few good dinos and often times lots of gear I have to farm back up. I have grown sick of spending 2/3s of my time just raveling back and forth across this ass map to do anything.

Exactly there is nothing in it. You are running through the same field/mountains with the same trike/stego/bronto population you saw 10 minutes ago. there is nothing special or interesting it's just arbitrary. If we had a much higher population I wouldn't be complaining but we don't.

If we all agree to do it (Panda, Marf and I), we will start testing server performance on a fully dedicated server and see if it's worth migrating to that this upcoming week.

If we do move, you wouldn't need to worry about saves or anything; nothing would change except for performance (which should improve) and the IP, which is a simple change in the favorites list. Also, if it turns out the restarts that happen randomly are a part of the host issues, then there will be the advantage of reduced downtime as well.

Even though they didn't have anything to do with the updates, I'm not really trusting the host to run the server anymore.
All these updates and "emergency restarts", as the host calls it, are too much when they happen consecutively.

It wasn't even that it was the fact that it takes 45 minutes to even get to the place they spawn at then I have to try and fine one that isn't a shit level. The final straw was all the carnotauruses I was trying to tame glitching into the fucking ocean after the server going down a billion times today. So would it just be the map that causes me to not see the server on the list after every update? So far I"m loving the map, but if I'm going to have to delete the folder every update and reinstall it (which seems to take forever) I might have to agree with the people that want the vanilla map back.

My map automatically updates, is there something wrong with your steam settings? Maybe it didn't automatically subscribe you to the mods.

Try unsubscribing from the mod on the workshop, deleting the entire "504122600" folder located at "Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\346110", then re-subscribing through the workshop and letting it download 100% before joining the server.

I actually just finished doing that and it's still not showing up. But I'm also still on version 226.3. How do I force my game to download the updates since it apparently won't do it on it's own anymore?
