Close.

Enjoy your vaporware cvcks
>>
>>124798215

The Delta is cool, but it's overpriced for what it is. The Aurora LN is everything the Delta is, plus it holds cargo, can mount a heavier shield, and is $30 cheaper.
>>
>>124798434
But its RARE

Oh wait, thats bad
>>
>>124798215
I have that little bastard, but Im not sure that I feel muh rare ships, considering their insurance will take longer than standard issue ships, and Delta is going to be very prone to getting exploded.

On the bright side its a small ship, that might help with Insurance. Yeah, it would be nice to hear more information about game mechanics...
>>
>>124798434
LN isn't half as quick as the delta is. And it just BEGS to be missiled.
>>
>>124799005
It has a very comfy dual airlock tho, for gettin in and out easyly, and is gonna be cheap as fuck to insure.
>>
>>124798434
Why not have both?
>>
>>124799359
Because if you're spending that much money there are better ships
>>
>>124799860
I take ships that I like, not the best ones and right now I like the Delta and LN.

I don't get this whole minmaxing of ships, get the ships you like and keep them instead of picking it because X ships are with a billion size 10 gimbal mounts and 20 size 7 missile racks but fly like garbage and look like shit.

How is patch J? Can I play without crashing every 5 minutes?
>>
>>124800142
I agree, its just we dont know how long insurance times are going to be for in general.

It would be ugly to wait for a Delta replacement the same amount of time for lets say a Freelancer, just because its a limited ship.

CIG better dig into some mechanics already.

It's broke. Come back when 2.0 is in general release.
>>

>>124805172

If you want a customized loadout, make sure its all REC.

Put whatever garbage meme cannons you want on your ship, DO NOT load ammo or missiles.

Load up a spectrum match, get into a lobby, select a ship other than the one you want, press okay. Now select the ship you do want, and press okay.

You will now load in to a spectru match with that loadout.

If you mount ammo, use guns from other ships that you own, or sneeze, you will load in with the default loadout.

Do you think taxi/personell-transport between players will be a thing in this game?

It seems like in most games this doesn't ever happen. Everyone always have a vehicle that can take them everywhere and being transported will almost always get you killed and costs more than it's worth.

The only game I can remember that ever had a working player "transport" system was Guild Wars 1 where people would guide others through areas for a fee, but this was usually just to skip grindy areas.

>>
>>124818038
Depends on the mechanics.

Do you remember the days of shuttle waiting in SWG? It was 1 shuttle 5-7minutes I think.
>>
>>124818448
Yes, but will players take use of / offer these kind of services?

Will there be something that prevents or discourages a player from taking his own ship to the destination, and will the price on a transport service be low enough to allow passengers to pay without becoming broke and the pilot/crew to make a profit from the job?

This is all very much down the line, I get that.

"Most obvious to all have been the persistent crash/CTD issues that prevent a lengthy playsession, but we’ve got good news: Chris Roberts and Sean Tracy discovered a major bug – it’s true, they’re Bugsmashers, too! – that’s a source of many of the problems. We’re testing a much more stable build right now, which will be a candidate for another PTU push today."

So your currently-flyable options are the Hornet and the Gladius, or you can wait for the Sabre.

The Gladius is good because if you have spare missile racks (from an Avenger or another Gladius) then you can have 8 S2 missiles. The guns are small but dealing mixed damage is nice. Just wish they would allow gimballed weapons to align with each other instead of using one crosshair or the other.

The Hornet is not as fast, but it's a bit tougher and if you like fixed guns then the S3 Gatling guns are pure bullshit. I don't know if they're still planning to give the Hornet 8 S2 missiles and gimballed S3 guns on the wings, but if they do then it is going to be fucking terrifying.
>>
>>124839101
I started playing EVE again four months ago pretty regularly and I've yet to be "griefed" in the game that carebears hold up as an example of why they need pvp sliders and private instances and hand-holding by CR himself.

The truth is there are going to be millions of unimportant idiots like yourself flying around with nothing valuable and hugging high-security space. Your chances of somebody randomly deciding that your hypothetical tears are worth his time and his ship are pretty small.
>>
Sabre looks sexy tho, very very sexy, but its not release yet.

I can only imagine that being a complete mess.

Solving the joystick gimbal problem is actually really simple. All they need to do is set gimbals to align their point of impact with that of the fixed weapons.

This change would improve the game for every single-seat fighter, for every controller. It has been suggested plenty of times and completely ignored.

So there it some skill behind having to take down someone's shields with energy weapons, then having to shift your aim to hit them with ballistics to punch through armor.

apparently.

Rather than just lining up one and being able to switch quickly and easily between the two damage types.

Theres also the fact that it would allow IM mode to fire slow-projectile ballistic weapons with even more accuracy, which would be utter shit.
>>
>>124840816
I can see how that would be. Maybe eye tracking in later iterations of VR?
>>
>>124842775
Extremely unlikely to ever be implemented, and requires a large investement into hardware.

Gimbals will be balanced through other means for sure, that may make it superfluous.
>>
>>124841959

This design encourages monoboats and head-on charges, neither of which make for an interesting game.

The current system also means that gimballed weapons can only be used with a mouse. I use mouse myself but holy shit, how badly do you have to fuck up to have such a core part of the combat system be completely useless to all but one input device?

>Theres also the fact that it would allow IM mode to fire slow-projectile ballistic weapons with even more accuracy, which would be utter shit.

It would allow everyone to use more weapons at once. IM naturally gets more firing opportunities than RM, so I can see how this would help IM more, but that is going to be the case until they solve the whole IM vs RM problem with redesign instead of throwing minuscule nerfs at IM.

Constellation, Sabre, Xi'an Scout, Starfarer, Gladiator and a Gladiator->Harbinger upgrade.

Not sure about that upgrade though. I like how the Gladiator flies in 1.3 (haven't tested it in 2.0 yet) and the Vanguard may end up looking like shit of they stay with that Retaliator kitbash design. Apart from that, it can't mount a fuckton of dumbfire pods or quad racks like the Gladiator is supposed to.
I may end up melting it for a Freelancer if the rework is somewhat decent.

Watching the live stream. For those waiting on salvage info Randy just said they are working on the final design doc.

What he could share with us sounds promising. Ships won't be loot bags, components left will will depend on how bad you wreck the target in a fight. You will have the option of breaking down components or taking the components and fixing parts that aren't completely destroyed.

I can't wait to see how they handle randomly generated shipwrecks.

>How much time passed since a ship got a flight ready status for Live server?

thats kind of irrelevant if they're flight ready in 2.0, which was the Retaliator, Constellation, Avenger (new pass) / Avenger variants and new HUD passes on a few ships.

The last time was probably the Gladiator IIRC, in 1.1.1
>>

>11 Apr 2015 - Patch 1.1.1 - 8 Months ago

Im aware p2.0 is a big step since its the first spark of a proper persistent universe..They will most likely show astroid/planet landing in 16th of December. They are doing sq42..

I have zero hope to see the next ships that are in the pipe to get flight ready in less than 8 months.

>Freelancer x4 / Redeemer / Sabre / Caterpillar.
>8 ships

Especially with sq42 and consistant spewing of new mechanics, along with the need to build the universe mechanics and fixing what is already there.
>>
>>124911220
>I have zero hope to see the next ships that are in the pipe to get flight ready in less than 8 months.

Okay?

Thanks for your hot opinions?

They made port olisar without showing us jack shit before it was 100% done, remember. The PU / LiveOPs team aren't working on ships. Mechanics don't slow down the ship pipeline.
>>
>>124911220
I think they kinda noticed they were doing what you just complained about.

They began concentrating on actually building the framework and foundation for all the things they promised instead of simply shitting out more ships.
>>
>>124911326
>The PU / LiveOPs team aren't working on ships.

Ah forgot about this, you are right. On the other hand 8 month is not bad for pumping 7-9 hulls with modules ready to fly. Considering the details they put in them.

We will see.
>>
>>124911220
I really hope you're not right cause I've got a major boner for the Sabre. Then again, they did say that it should be flight ready faster than the other ships as it will be using flight models that are already in place.
>>
>>124911551
Vanguard Warden is meant to be out with the next patch or so, even if it is kitbashed as hell
>>
>>124911562
Naah I am on the pessimist side today, I have a feeling they will pump Sabre asap for pewpew action. Maybe along with Freelancer in 2.1?

If they concentrate on the universe mechanics thats cool as well, considering the next ships are bigger, and require more detail. Meanwhile we can enjoy fiddling with new universe mechanics.
>>
>>124911687
True. I'd be happy if they either add the possibility to shop for hardware in game so you don't have to run the not so good stock loadouts, or add the Sabre rather sooner than later. The design of that thing is just boner inducing for me.

This was supposed to be flight/space sim though. I can't even play with my hotas because kb/m is so much better and easier to use which is a shame because it would be really enjoyable to use.

I was just stating that it's fucking dumb they refuse to change some gameplay systems because "skill based game" is so important to them but have all these other problems that are apparently completely fine.

Anon
We are literally months away from having even the most basic balancing issues resolved
There are certain gun and ship combos that have been ridiculously overpowered since ever.
Controllers do not even matter at this point.

From the things CIG has said so far, they re aware of the issue.
They have a concept for solving this (small guns on gimbals mounted on less maneuverable ships with KB+M, big guns in fixed mounts mounted on maneuverable ships with sticks)
They do also realize they have to do other things first before getting this done.

You are upset about step # 293 and call people nigger because you are butthurt about the $200 HOTASS that you impulso-bought way too early.
We need to even get to step #15, most people realize this and laugh at those who do not.

I don't think the mouse mode is actually that bad if the joystick can do a similar thing. The new joystick mode looks good but I can't test it because it's fucking broken whenever a contact appears. Also they should make gimbals a bit slower with more inertia so it's not such a huge advantage. And a bit of spread.

I'm really optimistic about the singleplayer campaign for this game.

It looks like they get everything working and actually running smoothly in singleplayer, but as soon as you start toying with multiplayer the FPS and connectivity goes to shit.
What we're seeing on the PTU now is only a fraction of the intricate systems that are planned for release, how on earth is this going to work in multiplayer without any lag?
>>
>>124930143
It probably is. They will hopefully have faction based skins for pirates.
>>
>>124932553
>actually running smoothly in single player
They said everything in single player will diverge from the PU. They were considering having single player be a copy of the PU with all your experiences being in its own instance from everyone else. In the end they couldn't get around the need to balance ships and weapons in single player separately from the PU.

They also wanted to get the campaign finished faster and cutting out all the PU content is allowing them to do that.

Because they were promised a very different ship than what they got. And after a year or so of pissing on the half of the cutlass fags that wanted a 'pirate fighter', CIG has since gone and pissed off the half who genuinely wanted a light freighter by saying the Cutlass will be some sort of shitty hybrid craft that sucks at every role. Hell, they even ticked off the variant owners by saying that after the long delayed remake, the Blue and Red will lose their custom hull and cockpit details.

At this point, it seems like most of the posters in the cutlass bitch thread have either left or since downgraded to Avengers or upgraded to Freelancers/Connies.

OK, is the Super Hornet bugged or something in 2.0.0K?

I had a 5 minute fight with one in Crusader and did not do a single point of damage to it, despite seeing constant close-range hits with Avenger main gun.

well I've had a game last long enough for me to fly to a relay, fight off a few pirates, eva to fix it, then see my ship get blown up just as I'm coming out. Respawn, grab another ship, fly to the security post, actually get inside and grab a rifle (which I've never managed to last long enough to do before) only to then have some asshole blow my ship up on the landing pad then fly off, leaving me stranded there.

Finally I crashed while floating around the station waiting for someone to show up so I could jack their ship.
>>
>>124947168
>>124946382

The Phoenix costs a bomb.

Honestly I think that every "core" profession they are planning for this game needs a competent ship (or at the very least a good variant) that is under $80.

>>124947502

IM is Interactive Mode, one of the two modes of flight.

In IM the mouse controls the aim of the ship's gimballed weapons, and the ship itself just flies towards that point of aim. The alternative is RM, Relative Mode, there moving the mouse actually moves the nose of the ship.

This is the source of much butthurt in the SC community because IM is overpowered as fuck, and it can only be used with a mouse and keyboard.

In my opinion flying with RM is much more interesting, and feels much more responsive, but aiming with fixed guns in RM is frustrating and completely ineffective against human pilots.

The problem is that the RM crowd are demanding retarded things like removing gimbals or adding auto-aim, and CIG are completely silent on the issue.

the 315p's engine shape isn't too bad either. It's really the 300i and 325a that have that god awful butt plug with wings and a giant spoiler look to them.
>>
>>124961727

The whole situation is a real mess.

Having an entire weapon class that can only be used by one input device should not even be an option on the table.

For all their "transparency" CIG are completely fucking silent on things like this.

I'm not saying it's easy. I don't like IM in principle but I can't really think of a better way to control gimbals. I just wish that they'd either defend the decisions they've made or admit that there's a problem.
>>
>>124962623

The 315P is (or was, a few patches ago) an absolute joy to fly. Before faggots in Super Hornets and Gladiators got the Ominsky lasers nerfed the 315P was fucking legit.

Looks too much like a toy plane.

Maybe they'll bring the weapons in a bit and make them concealable, like with the Sabre. Would certainly make sense for a ship like this.

They've been doing a lot of that "intention design flaw" shit with ships and it's annoying as hell.
>>
>>124963103
See, this looks great because the engine is one piece with the fuselage.
Instead of having a cabin with an engine almost entirely separate.

Current 300i looks like they took some modular NASA thing, separated the parts, made them "sleek", and then glued them back together.

I guess CIG meant that the design intentionally has a flaw, but some of the flaws seem more like Origin Jumpworks' designers must have intended the design to have a flaw.

Take the choice bits and leave. What, you think they are going to take an entire cargo ship full of wheat? Now fuck off ben, you god damn moron, no one wanted the cutlass to be just shy of the fucking freelancer in cargo capacity.

>>
>>124968158
>entire cargo ship full of wheat?

pick one. Probably only faster smuggling ships would have super expensive cargo like that

the point of pirating is to take a good chunk of the cargo. You have less capacity than a trade ship but more weapons to make pirating viable

eat shit
>>
>>124968342
you said mother cargo ship

so yeah that's totally redundant and stupid. If they barely hold more than an avenger then it's a stupid ship.
>>
>>124968551
Avionics, shields, weapons, hell probably even powerplants and QT drives and all that can be stolen. Equipment is more valuable than the ship.

Thats more likely to be stolen than 500 billion tons of wheat or a tiny amount of drugs only worthwhile if you're smuggling them anyway
>>

Is to pick your targets wisely, taking the best haul for the least effort
>>

You're an idiot. That's not the point of pirating. It has historically always been about targeting high value cargo, capturing ships and ransoming crew. Not fucking stealing bulk cargo and selling it. You have no fucking clue what you're talking about.
>>

The hornets you can buy are relatively long range, multi role ships able to carry a surprising amount of stuff in a central cargo hatch (your car could almost fit in)
Or trade that cargo for super radar, super stealth, a turret, or a fixed gun far bigger than other ships its size.

Ok, I'm in a slight predicament. This scenario is only assuming that the next sale is Christmas and the concept ships are for sale again (like the anniversary sale):

Freelancer DUR and a Banu Merchantman?

-or-

A Carrack?

A part of me wants to have exploration with the potential of being able to trade around the galaxy, but it seems the Carrack has just enough cargo to just do that on the side. Also, the Carrack is a hell of a lot bigger than most ships besides the Idris and the other cap ships.

I really want to do exploring, since in EVE, "Plexes" (short for complex, not the other PLEX where you can buy in-game subscription) were able to be scanned out and finished, and depending on how lucky you were, you acquired rare-ass "officer" weapons that were worth 100,000,000 ISK, rather than a normal non-rare variant of the same type being around 1,000,000 ISK.

If exploration has ridiculous loot, and is rare as well, then I think I might want the Carrack.

Also, will the concept ship sale come back mid-December as rumored, or will it be doubtful

I agree that if you're in a Gladiator and the match is full of idiots you can clean out shop

But I would really hate for them to be balanced for the lowest common denominator. You don't even need countermeasures to avoid CS Missiles, and they're by far the best ones. Rest are a joke

>>
>>125008936
>Regularly avengers
As I said, It's the one that's kinda combat viable, but it's still missile bait and an easy mark for anyone with the slightest clue how to aim.
>Sometimes Hornets
Hornet Pilots are reliably the shittiest flyers in game, being force to neither git gud at flying or get gud at aiming, they exist in the "gud at nothing" zone and are easy kills for anyone that can aim decently well long enough to punch through the shields. Hornets are literally Babby's first starfighter.

>>125008975
But Anon, Missiles ARE an anti shitter weapon. You only use em against good pilots if you have em dead to rights already and know they wont be able to dodge. Missiles should never be a particularly reliable kill unless you know precisely how to employ them and even then there will always be counter play from the target, like shutting down engines and weapons to minimize sig while spamming CMs.

The whole point of missiles is to finish a crippled ship quickly or alpha strike a target that lacks either the time or experience to react.
>>
>>125009357
>The whole point of missiles is to finish a crippled ship quickly or alpha strike a target that lacks either the time or experience to react.

Yeah, nah.

Thats a fucking awful niche and a terrible, redundant gameplay mechanic.
>>
>>125009398
Looks I'm not saying that's all their good for, I'm saying their a low skill, low effort weapon that you Fire either at a ship with its shields already down, or at a target you know wont be able to evade.

Firing a 5000 credit missile(or whatever they end up being) at a target that will more than likely just avoid it is a waste, but if that high chance to avoid given skill and timing is necessary to keep missiles from become the only weapons system in use. If two missiles kills an aware and evasive pilot with any kind of reliablity who is going to bother with their guns until they are out of missiles?

Currently, yes.

But with the depth they're putting into mechanics right now we could have a lot more interesting / skill based missile combat.

What you're talking about is how CIG is trying to balance it now; trying to find a 'sweet spot' between uselessness and being OP as fuck, but they'll never find it. They have consistently made them too far either way.

I think this is gonna be a great deal harder than you think it will be, as right now at least running away is always an option. And multicrew ships have some seriously powerful shields when they're all charged up.
No gang of F7C hornets with their S2 gimbals and S1 missiles is going to fuck up constellation easily, the conny meanwhile can essentially two shot the hornets withits Quad gimbals, not even counting the Turrets or Itano Circus Tier missile spam.

There are no warp scramblers in this game that we have yet seen. nor stasis webbers or interdictors. If you wanna stop a ship you're going to have to disable its engines, and if a multicrew pilot has brains he is not going to let you do that before he rabbits.

My only other ships are an Omega and an LN.

>>

Mustang Beta is comfy. Id say its a good idea to LTI it as well, so you can CCU to a larger exploration ship if you want.

Archi is super stupid, yeah. Oh well LTI token..
>>
>>125019437

Not really.

If his Cutlass is in his game package than he can't melt it down without losing game access since it wouldn't melt just the ship, it would melt the entire package.

He'd have to spend $30 on an Archimedes, plus (at a minimum) $30 on one of the anniversary starter packs (assuming he could even buy one before they were sold out each day) to get an LTI ship as well as a game package.

So he would have to spend $60 in actual money just so he could melt his Cutlass, then use that credit to CCU his Archimedes to a Cutlass Red, and he would also be stuck with an extra Aurora MR or Mustang Alpha that he couldn't melt down.
>>
>>125019640

Now that I see this, what is still missing is something like the Homeworld Supply Frigate.

I guess in SC it would be a corvette-sized ship with four or so landing pads where fighters can refuel and rearm, a small medical area and a good amount of fuel and ammo.
Alternative use would be as a sort of assault transport, with four Redeemers and troops.

Another variant could be one with four mining drones instead of landing pads, and lots of ore storage instead of fuel and ammo.

CIG would make shekels hand over fist with this.

Maybe just make the whole topside of teh ship into a landing platform where ships can fit according to size?

Like you can place several smaller ships in your hangar in te hspace where you can put one larger ship.

>Why is typing this giving me deja vu?
No idea, I just thought about this when I saw that Homeworld ship there.

But since there is no such ship in the game, and there are very few ships of that size class in the game, people probably speculated about this before.
>>
>>125023108
>corvette
>hangar
Fuck that. I'll be damned if they give the new corvette a hangar that can hold anything larger than snub fighters and Argos. The Idris was the perfect end-game objective because it was small (relatively, anyway), powerful, and that would be nice to fly around, but they insisted on a hangar and it turned into a fucking Frigate. Not that it's bad now, but it pissed me off how bloated it got. That's why a landing pad is a great idea to rearm or refuel small ships in the patrol group, especially if it's possible to fold into a compartment, or something like that.

Also, I now remember that someone else mentioned the fold-out landing pad from a thread before.
>>
>>125023864
The Idris only got out of hand when Chris decided it was going to be the primary carrier of SQ42

Without him sperging out and the proper understanding of how big everything needs to be they've learned over the years, they could do an actual hangar Corvette properly

And, just to be clear here, the Idris always had a hangar, from day one.
>>
>>125024361
Yes, it had a hangar but then they found out that the space would have been much too small to hold 3 fighters. I remember pictures of it, and it was an extremely tight fit. Another factor for my distaste for hangars would be that the more space taken up by the hangar equals less space for modular rooms and weaponry.
>>
>>125024724
IIRC the hangar space was fine, it was just that there wasn't the empty space / rooms to actually have the SQ42 story play out.
>>
>>125025225

They're still sticking with that "having people in the turrets will fix it!" defense even though it's clear that manned turrets are crap and it's nearly impossible to track targets in them.

In fact, only marginally decent turret is the remote turret on a god damn fighter, all of the actual multi-crew ship turrets are garbage. Especially the Cutlass' and the Constellation's lower turret.

Most Constellations will probably just end up slaving the turrets to the pilot. Having someone in the Merlin will be far more effective for defense than having them in a turret ever will be. And the Retaliator will end up needing fighter escort to do anything.
>>
>>125027894
>Most Constellations will probably just end up slaving the turrets to the pilot.

Constellation's forward firepower is large already. Adding more to it while it's being hit from the side by a more agile ship doesn't help in any way

Turrets are pretty much first pass anyway, you can't make broad statements like they'll never help from PTU gameplay or mechanics.

Even if the do improve tracking speed for turrets in Star Citizen, I think most people would end up using them remotely any way. The actual visibility in them is terrible.

Hey @everyone quick update and plan for today:

>We're going to push one more build to PTU today to test an extra fix for the AI spawns at a comms array that slow down and occasionally crash the game server. Our internal testing shows that the fix resolves the crash, though there can be slowdowns of 30 seconds or so, at which point the servers clear up.

You're an idiot, we're obviously talking about in-game mechanics, and the larger ships are not going to be rotating as fast as light fighters.

remote turrets work just like manned turrets except you get a nice handy UI overlay and three quarters of your vision isn't obscured by struts and metal plates. Also you don't need some ridiculous giant drop down seat to use it.

So far, I'd rank the turrets as;
1- Super Hornet
2- Gladiator
3- Constellation Upper turret
4- Retaliator (only tried two of them so far though)
5- Cutlass
6- Constellation Lower turret.

Since Tali's aren't meant to be carried into battle, will they have similar range as a carrier do you think? Is range even a thing for anything with a jump drive?

They confirmed that.

Boost regenerates on a simple timer, maneuvering uses up no fuel ever.

the other is for quantum jumping between points of interest in a system.

You could definitely do significant damages to bigger targets, but you'll need to have a good aim and we don't know how torpedoes and shields interact, so you may have to disable the shields before firing your torpedo.

Remember that the biggest the target, the better it is to capture it. Being only able to disable ships may be the best advantage of the smallest ships against capital ships.

I lost faith with the HULL series Q&A.

>We’re aware that the ‘spindle’ looks like the weak point of the Hull series, but do not intend for this to carry over into the game mechanics.

that is actually the EXACT OPPOSITE of fidelity.
>>
>>125061346
Not the anon you replied to, but how shitty would it be for someone to just come and destroy all of your shit with a barage of rockets and kinetic weaponry? Nobody would use a Hull ship if it can all be destroyed in a few seconds of fire to a single spot. Even if you have a large escort, all it takes is a few seconds of controlled fire to ruin everything.

So in this case the price of realism comes with the giving of enjoyment for haulers.
>>
Downtime for 2.0 live in 50 minutes.
>>
>>125062231
It's a shit design which should only be used either with heavy escort or in very secure space.

Bulk goods trading is boring as fuck. They should be mainly NPC loot pinantas for pirates, letter graded by difficulty and reward.

They could break apart like they should, but also be repairable in-space, so when bandits break one, it creates a defend the ship scenario for awhile until either QRF comes, repairs are complete, or something.

But no, Ben "fuck freespace" lesnigger had to make it strong enough to sell to the admiral whales

>>
>>125062231
>but how shitty would it be for someone to just come and destroy all of your shit with a barage of rockets and kinetic weaponry?

about as shitty as going out into the verse in a mustang/aurora and then a faget in a vangaurd flies by and clicks to delete you.

at least the HULL's weakpoint is away from the crew, so they'd survive that barrage and there's a chance for emergent gameplay.

>>125063570

>>
>>125063591
You're making shit up that nobody is arguing. The Hull series are by no means indestructible, but it's game breaking if you can gank an entire hull ship by hitting a single spot on it for a small time. That specific trait is game breaking no matter how you look at it.

>>125063291
Even if you have a heavy escort, kinetic weapons go through shields with a damage reduction percentage based on weapon size to shield size ratio (something like that?). Focused fire on a spindle by 2 - 3 SHs or Vanguards with full ballistic loadouts would ruin the entire ship and cargo with no effort, and escorts, no matter how realistically numerous they can be, cannot prevent this when Hull ships would be slow as hell. The people would likely die, but the hull is already ripped in 2, thus the gank is complete. I do not support this gameplay.
>>
>>125062314
proofs?
>>
>>125064420
>would ruin the entire ship

So the weakpoint is irrelevant in this scenario. Both with it and without it, this same wing of high-end military fighters can ruin anything they want.

The only solution to that problem is to reduce the power gap between ships like that and other ships, so that escorts can be effective.

>>125065074
No, anon. Unescorted Hull ships are probably going to feel the hurt if they get attacked by some pirates. That's obvious, but the difference is that with the spindle being a very weak point, you would lose everything almost instantly in both situations. With a weak spindle and escorts, the attackers most likely won't make it out alive because of the escorts still being there, but all they have to do is constantly shoot ballistics at the spindle and you both die. No effort, and a large ship was destroyed. Your escorts can't really save you at that point, thus it opens a portal to extreme ganking from dedicated groups of people.

Having escorts is obvious, but having such a weak point does nothing but invite trolling of hull series ships. If the weak spindle was kept, all you need to destroy the ship would be a few people and some SHs loaded with ballistic weapons. If goonrathi became a serious org in SC with their "we ruin YOUR game" motto, this would be their primary form of trolling.
