The first game was great, best TPS I've ever played. Shiny never made a boring game. Tried to get into the sequel several times but the writing and awful flow of gameplay put me off. I think that even though it was a sequel to another dev studio's game made by old Bioware it's easy to see just what sort of failings and triumphs their design philosophy produces.

Kurt from the first game was also the first game character I thought was hot, his snug suit is just awesome.

Which one? The first one is a gorgeous quick paced action game with a totally unique sense of humour and art direction. It still holds up very well to this day, but if you're playing something else than the GOG version it can be really hard to get it to run. It's a blast to play through and there isn't anything quite like it out there. The texture work in some levels is still incredible.

The second game is an interesting curiosity but it's a drag to actually play. It does give you some insights into early Bioware. A third of the game is pretty enjoyable since you get to play as an robotic dog with four arms that quadruple wield guns but to make up for how fun those segments were they also inserted awkward puzzle sections that were awful. The tone doesn't hit the mark and it's weird but not in the comfy surrealistic way the first game was.

What is WRONG with you people...

Well, it might not be your cup of tea if you don't like action games. Other games by Shiny that I'd recommend would be the Earthworm Jim games (quirky platformers) and Sacrifice (a weird strategy game), both very unique and creative games too.

Messiah is also pretty fun but it's not as good, I thought that the possession mechanic in that game was very creative. In it you play as a small fat cherub who is very vulnerable but if he can sneak up behind people he can posses them. The game wasn't very polished though but very atmospheric and left quite an impression on me.

I felt the same. Every time I pickpocketed or broken into houses, I always had that Skyrim feeling as if I was going to get a bounty.

This was one of the biggest let downs for me. You'd think they would be able to make the city feel like a big living place since they could focus all their efforts in one place but it's just as static and boring as any small location that you only visited once in Origins. They should have made it this place that was buzzing with life in the day and that had an active night life. There wasn't nearly enough atmosphere in there to work as pretty much the only location of an entire game. It just felt empty and lifeless.

Seriously, why even bother making an open world if you're not going to include dynamic weather or day/night cycles? It's probably the main draw of these sort of games for people anyway, even Baldur's Gate had those features.
