Previous thread >>124316035

>What in fuck is this

/indie/ is a proposed general for all indie games, such as LISA, Yume Nikki, OFF, Bastion, Machinearium, Braid, Limbo, Axion Verge, Guacamele, The Desolate Hope, etc.

>How can I contribute?

Right now we're looking for anons to make the new pastebins and update the ones we already have. Besides that, all we need right now is enough people to talk about indies and make this general alive, so don't be afraid to post.

And don't forget to play many indie games. S2

>Can I talk about (game)? What about mobile and flash/unity games?

"/indie/ is a home for all things indie games. But if there's a general for an indie game already, you're probably better off discussing that game there. Similar to /smtg/ and /pg/. Persona is a sub-series of SMT, but Persona outgrew SMT. Now they just have their own generals.

This place is hopefully a home for the indie game community and indie games that don't have a home."

>What are some recommended games?

There's lots, here are some lists by genre:

>Freeware Games Compendium (thanks anon!):

"- Icons on the bottom right indicate whether it's downloadable, browser-based, or both.
- Icon in the lower left indicates the number of players it supports
- The gold star represents a particularly important or outstanding title
- The middle icon indicates whether the game is still in alpha or beta (some of these statuses have changed since the time I made the album)"

Believe it or not, pretty rarely, but always at this hour if I'm not mistaken. The new Compendium is a godsend because (hopefully) it'll make anons play more indie games and discuss them here. More games, more posts after all.

It's nice to see this general still around. It's pretty chill.

I recently re-started Middens (started it a while ago but left it because it kicked my ass).
Now I think I'm pretty close to one of the endings 30 Nothings way
Does the game give you tips on how to achieve the other one or is it cryptic as ever?
>>
What do you guys think about Newgrounds games? I've gone through the compendium and pastebins, but there are a couple that have really stuck with me that aren't on there.
>>
>>124573426
It has a few great gems. The Epic Battle Fantasy series has some of the best turn-based RPG combat ever, indie or not indie, while Sonny and Mardek RPG are the two great indie RPG epics before those became cool. I feel like some Newgrounds classics absolutely deserve to be mentioned in this general, but it's not really what it's used to be.

As mentioned in the OP, all indie games are allowed for discussion, including flash based ones. If you want to talk about them here please do so, we would love more discussions and it would be good nostalgia. And if you want to update the bins/create new ones, even better!

>>124576621

Indeed, but since most of what we consider indie today (games and devs) came from sites like Newgrounds I think they still have at least some historical value.

If you wanna know, Epic Battle Fantasy series is still being made, Bullet Heaven 2 is already on Steam together with EBF4, if I'm not mistaken. Krin (Sonny dev) is a ghost and posts once in a solar eclipse, and let's not delve into Mardek dev, the guy is fucking insane and he'll never make anything good again.

By the way, here's another gem from that time. You all got all the endings and achievs of this game, right?
>>
How is OFF? Been meaning to try it since playing Undertale and replaying Mother 3, but the only other place I've seen it mentioned (uboachan) didn't have much good to say about it.
>>
>>124595464
You'll be able to find most effects just by wandering around, but looking up a guide to find the most useful ones first is completely fine. That's what I did at least, and I get spooked really easy.
>>
>>124588096

Pretty much >>124588458 and>>124593497 but if you want more I recommend Warning Forever and Fraxy. Also if you want some bullet hells I suggest Call of the Underworld, Jamestown, Mushihimesama, Bullet Heaven 1 & 2 and Touhou (obviously).

>>124572230

It doesn't give any tips but it's easy. Keep killing.
>>
>>124595485
It's a lot more varied
They keep adding shit and breaking shit though
Call me when it's done
>>124595758
ubuu is worse than cancer, OFF is okay to good but not as good as all sorts of places say.
>>
>>124596342
I dunno, ALL the worlds I go to are creepy and there's a bunch of doors that take me to even creepier places. Yume Nikki was way comfier than this.
>>
>>124595464
Yume Nikki unless you spend a couple of hours after finding the first couple of effects, you WILL get stuck, atleast for a little while. This is the nature of Yume Nikki games in general, as the sparity of effects dwindle, it becomes much, much harder to find new ones. You can do it in 20 minutes with a guide, but that is no fun. Honestly, it's a game that you CAN sink alot of hours into, the atmosphere sucks you in, and if you aren't sucked in, you will get pretty bored either way.
You can easily figure out everything on your own, the puzzles are nothing more than "wow, this room is really dark, i should find something to light it up." or "wow, this hole is tiny, i wonder if there's an effect that will shrink me", the difficulty comes mostly from tracking down the effects, which, as mentioned, can get tedious when you are missing like 1 or 2 effects.

>>124595485
Yume 2kki does have a lot of spooky stuff, but it's a fun kind of spooky. It's a good follow up to Yume Nikki, even if the world seems way more daunting the more you explore it (every world leads into each other and it gets really maze-y).

>>124595758
OFF is a great surreal RPG. It can get a little preachy at times (Especially near the end) but it makes up for it with enjoyable characters and neat music. If you think you would enjoy Mother 3 set in the genocide route of Undertale, you would probably really like OFF.
>>
>>124596510
I definitely think there isn't as much balance in the I guess lower depth areas (easier to get to) between creepy and comfy but deeper in theres a lot of nice places. I hope they make it easier to get to, it's definitely something they've been doing between the finished areas when I played every revision

What's the good kind of spooky? I have to close the game all the time because this kind of games really scare me, I should go get that checked desu

>>124596581
All the initial worlds are already pretty weird, and I got to some spoopy roads and dark places. I also tried to go back and turn on the tv, then I went outside, and this keeps getting weirder, and not in a good way.
>>
>>124596581
Yeah, the game doesn't really know how to pace its spooky-ness correctly. But i like spooky exploration games, so maybe my bias is speaking up.

But then again, it's probably really hard to pace a Yume Nikki game in the first place.
>>
>>124596695
To me, the good kind spooky is the one that makes you want to learn more. I want to see where its going with stuff, I want to see if there's even a payoff, or atleast if i can find a less spooky area on the other side.
Again, this might just be my spooky bias acting up.
>>
>>124596531
I just found the bicycle!

I'm gonna be patient with this game and try it out, I really like how strange it is and it'll help me pace out my day, I'm working and trying to study ASL so having something completely separate from reality is a good change.
>>
>>124596650
It's because I found you guys today.

>>124596769
I feel like in 2kki they alternate a bit too much between nice and really dark, and there isn't really a sequence of nice places in my experience, just a bunch of spooky ones
there used to be a really long chain of space-related areas that were really nice but I don't know how to get to them now

>>124594518

Don't worry, we are all at fault here and shit happens. Just post more and it's all good.

>>124595464

It's a exploration game but if you only want to finish it then it's pretty easy and fast, you only need to find the knife and the bike as soon as you can. Since the game is pretty crazy and have no plot (only speculation) no guide spoils so don't worry about it.

>>124595485

I'm waiting for the full version of the game, so until there I only played .flow who is a pretty good and spooky fangame too.

>>124595758

The general consensus here is that it has great story and characters, but the battle system is tedious sometimes, so don't try to play the game in one sitting or you'll be bored fast.

It doesn't have a fixed date, the dev updates once a year to put new things like all the fangames (and Yumi Nikki proper), it's almost like a norm.

Also like Kikiyama the guy is a jap, so even if he's active online we don't have means to know since most people don't understand moon and those who does don't know about/find him insteresting to translate.

>>124597415

You want to make this general alive and, most of all, play indie games, so the pleasure is ours! Just remember to post here often and always expand your indie library.

Also Hylics is a pretty good game and is recommended since the first general. If you want more of games like these I rec Middens, Gingiva, Goblet Grotto and Space Funeral.

>>124595479

There's some lewds online if you want, but if you desire some "homemade" content then you'll have to wait a while since we have another priority right now...
>>
So I asked this on the last thread but no one answered.
I'm experiencing some lag issues in certain parts of Lisa.
I've searched for it but I found nothing.
Anyone knows how to fix it?
>>
>>124599109
I haven't heard about this issue before. Have you had problems with other RPG maker games before? What parts of the game are lagging out?
>>
>>124599332
I haven't played any RPG maker games before. The parts that lag out are the rather big areas - the snow mountain is just... well, PAINFUL to go through.
>>
>>124599471
Then tt kind of sounds like you are either playing a toaster, or that your computer has problems running RPG maker.
I wouldn't be able to tell you the exact problem however.
>>
>>124599471
That's an RPG Maker VX thing where large areas are loaded at once unless the creator splits them into lesser ones.

Looking at Steam threads about your issue, common recommendations include playing in a smaller window or running the game with the frameSkip=false launch option to make the game slow down instead of stuttering at memory-intense areas.
>>
>>124599749
I'm running at a 1X native window and I do have frameSkip=false launch option. I always had the option and it became a little bit less of a pain to get through those areas.

I just finished Dropsy without really looking anything up, and I'm a little unclear on the ending, can someone tell me if I got this straight?

So basically the CEO tried to kill Dropsy because he along with his other brother were put on earth (after the CEO secretly committed patricide) in order to test them and see which would inherit the crown. I'm assuming the 'test' was for them to co-operate and re-establish contact with the mothership from Earth, but the CEO figured he could just leverage his alien tech to kill his brothers and make it look like an accident.

The one thing I'm not clear on is why the CEO crying in front of the statue of his father at the ending? Was he simply frustrated because he was exposed and no longer eligible a the "winner," or did something make him realize that he had tread down the completely wrong path and that there was no going back. The outstretched arms kind of made me think that maybe there was an inscription on the statue that more or less revealed that the true successor would be determined by who had the biggest heart and the warmest, dampest hugs.

I had the same idea, but since we have lots and lots of indie games in different genres I thought making a list of indie games (one per genre) instead, to generate even more discussion and to not alienate anons who prefer specific genres.

Another idea I had was making a rule like "if an anon posts an indie and you never played it, then you HAVE to try it (or if it's not freeware at least search for it)". Maybe we could do both, or this would be too much for a first trial?

>>124612298

We know that feel very well. But don't give up, we'll make it.

>>
>>124611636
Kinda like that, anon, but the backstory is told in the special edition "booklet"

They were actually evacuated from the planet after their race created super mutants that turned against them, and a war broke out. The CEO loses it after he realizes that their home planet's dead and he has nothing to rule over, so he shoots Dropsy. The people on the spaceship probably thought "Well, fuck that guy," after they saw him shoot Dropsy, and decided to leave him on the planet.

If we actually do it properly, we should just decide on a game that either was updated recently or released recently (for example we could go for 2kki when an update is released)
It would better be an "all-around" kind of game that won't alienate too many people.
Something like "hey we should all play games" doesn't push too much discussion about specific things really

You're right, my second idea will not change anything since in the end it will be the same thing as always, and forcing anons to do something only make them go away instead of interesting them.

However I think it the voted game doesn't need to be a recently updated/released game necessarily, since most of them take quite a long time to update and we still don't have a easy way to know about them imo.

And >>124619665 said a very important point, unless we do a "OP chooses the game" thing (that could fuck us up very bad) we have to choose a game that the majority agrees, and that could be very hard.

But to be honest I believe in /indie/, everyone who posts here are cool bros and I'm sure we'll reach a decision in no time.

I'm pretty sure those snakes only appear in the optional swamp, so it depends on how much you want to:
1. Explore
2. Get the 2/3 characters you can gather in the swamp.

Mend is broken.
Funny that, the first playthrough of joyful was joyless and mend wasn't implemented yet.

You need to find the Joy Boys hanging out in the Green Ranger's house, where you can find by using TNT on a rock in one of the crossroads.

Lone Survivor: 2D Silent Hill-like. Creator also made Soundless Mountain and did some music for Hotline Miami.
One Eye Open: Interactive Fiction. you're in a lab and the lab is now made of meat.
ImScared: Unity-like. As close to one of those "haunted videogame" creepypastas you'll get while still being terrifying.
Slime Bomb Knight + Mr. Kitty Saves the World. Conceptually similar to ImScared. Very short-- 5~ min each.
ALLOFOURFRIENDSAREDEAD: Platformer. All of your friends are dead.
Horse Master: Twine. Sim elements-- "train" your "horse". Apparently you can, in fact, win.
Mystery Channel: TheCatamites. FILLED WITH SPOOKS.

In my opinion it's totally worth the price right now. The ships feel very unique and different from one another, and there's tons of ways to personally customize their capabilities (no aesthetic changes though).

As for the campaign it's a work in progress, but it's still fun to mess around in.

Plus there's an active modding community and they produce some good shit too.

There is some alternate universe where Marty isn't an abusive fuck, Yado dies in an explosion at his Joy lab, the world doesn't end and an unbroken Brad adopts Rando and Buddy right?

There has to be ;_;

But if Yado dies then Buddy won't actually exist.
A fatal flaw in your plan.

is there a rule that says if we can make a thread for a single indie game ?
>>
>>124733313
A bunch do, for example binding of isaac or tumblrtale.
Generals just have to be about videogames, /vg/ doesn't have very strict rules at all about thread creation. Hell, mods don't even delete threads that are being bumped while having almost no discussion in them.

>>124733313
Indie games aren't banned from having individual threads so you can very well make a general about one. The thing about indie games is that they are somewhat below the radar, so making a general for it here on /vg/ means you expect it to get enough traffic to stay alive. You can very well make one on /v/ to get some discussion out of it, test the waters of how much you think others will discuss it, but the general idea here is that /indie/ allows all these games to get talked about with trustworthy enough traffic to keep going on.

That's because you only have one party member

Those 90,000 hp joy mutants that take 15 minutes to kill while barely doing anything are definitely worse than anything in Painful as well

The only good fights in Joyful were Big Lincoln and Yado, the first was legitimately hype and had me at the edge of my seat while the latter is only good because of the music, but a complete letdown gameplay-wise

4chan idiots read "indie" and assume "pretentious lazy pixel shit like Fez" because they feel compelled to form their lives and tastes around being contrarian against the reddit strawman, hence the kneejerk reaction

Honestly I kinda wish Dingaling did something like this. Like as you level up there are more "notes" you have to pass to get the full damage of a move. With like the last skill at the highest levels being 6-10 notes and having Buddy attack someone like Cloud using Omnislash.

I don't know why he was so set on pleasing the casuals, when people complained about not being able to go Joyless he should have just said "Get Gud" instead of making a broken heal move for Buddy.

Actually, I'm the guy from that post really.
>>124748708
Those are some really nice assumptions.

I like indie games such as Yume Nikki, .flow, Undertale, Cave Story and other less known titles. But as someone who browses those two generals on a semi-regular basis, I consider the OP mentioning those generals to be rather unnecesary, and it also says a kind of ignorant statement.

I can't really force you to change the OP or anything, but that's what I think.

Maybe I overreacted with those posts and all, but I don't see the problem. It's not like you won't be able to find /smtg/ because another general appeared in the search function (I still do), and I don't think it's an ignorant statement at all. I mean, why would you talk about an indie game here when it already has its own thread? This place is a home for the small ones that wouldn't be able to have a general of their own. The comparison is well used, in my opinion. But you're free to think that, too. Discussion like this is often good for the general.

Don't worry about it, anon. I, for one, am very happy for your posting your opinion here. All feedback is important and as>>124750829 said it's even healthy for /indie/. If not for you a lot of anons from /smt/ and /pg would be 1000%mad about us and we would never know why.

I understand your point of view and the comparison of SMT with Persona is worded poorly (it sounds like "Persona >>>SMT" when the original idea was "Persona has it own general even if it was a subseries of SMT"). It's not hard to make an alternative to the OP, so if I have the chance to post the next one I'll change the text to avoid unneeded problems.

Again, thank you very much for your feedback. /indie/ belongs to us all, so feel free to come here whenever you want to take a break from all that crazy demon fusion.

Also Strange Journey is the best of the series, and will never be surpassed.

Everyone is a little careful with indies nowadays since it's a market saturated with shit, and most of the hiddem gems are very hard to find because of that. But even today 90% of the relevant games are freeware so you can have lots of joy with the genre by paying absolutely nothing. Take a look at the compendium or the pastebins when you have time.

Also if you like cute girls you should definitely try vgperson's translated games, mainly SeaPrisioner games (Wadanohara, Gray Garden, Mogeko Castle) or Miwashiba (LiEat and 1BitHeart).

Actually there's a lot of new content:

http://cavestory.wikia.com/wiki/Cave_Story%2B

If you want to compare with the other versions:

http://cavestory.wikia.com/wiki/Version_differences

However I recommend playing the original and buying the remake only if you loved the game very much since all those additions will mean shit if you don't like it in the first place. Also, Cave Story has a very high replay value, so you won't lose anything playing one, then the other.

I have an idea of sorts to mix things up here and maybe make the general more interesting.

Why don't we try and talk with the guys over at the Amateur Game Dev general and play their finished / unfinished games? It might be fun. And they are, after all, indie.

They hold game jams every month and some of them have even released on Steam or itch.io or other platforms.

What say you guys?

Word of warning though: shitposters in /agdg/ tend to be no-devs who just like to shit on other people's work or are salty about their own problems. Try to ignore them. I'm sure most amateur devs would love it if they had more of an audience for their games for critique and/or enjoyment. and I would certainly love to be one of the test subjects

"indie" games are pretty general, what brings this thread together?
>>
>>124819368

your mum m8
>>
>>124819368
Basically the fact that they have no other home in /vg/. And since /agdg/ doesn't want to (and shouldn't want to) be full of people who just want to play games instead of devving, I think it's a good relationship we could build

Plus, since their fanbases tend to be small and niche, they can congregate here. It should prove to be a good place to spread word of mouth and whatnot.
>>
>>124819368
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads (like tumblrtale), however, all indie games are allowed.
Despite this, you will mostly see Lisa and OFF here, since they are quite popular, but not popular enough for their own general as I said before.
>>
Does this general ever talk about indie games that aren't meme games?
>>
What indie games would you recommend to introduce someone to videogames?

A friend played through Undertale recently and she loved it.

Her only real exposure to videogames before that was watching other people play various genres of vidya around her so she's familiar with them at a face-value level, but I think that might just be the first game she's beaten on her own.

>>124820045
You strike me as the kind of guy that calls "meme" anything popular that he does not like. Like /mu/ people saying "meme grips lol".

But to answer your question, yes, yes we do. And we're trying to branch out more from the mainstream as you can see above, linking AGDG stuff

I think it's a great idea! Using this and >>124609539 suggestion I think we could generate a lot of good discussions for both generals and remove anons in /agdg/ who should be here instead like >>124819701 posted . Plus, by frequenting the jams and /agdg/ we would always be updated with new devs and games!

However, I have the same worries as >>124817828, both for /agdg/ and /indie/. I think we should avoid spreading info outside, and also mixing the generals too much. Then we can be very cool and close friends. Also lovers.

>>124818995

Like >>124819701 and >>124819738, /inide/ is a place to talk, discuss and recommend all indie games, specifically the ones that couldn't survive on their own generals. >>124837853
It definitely depends on taste, but it's like a really well-written spiritual successor to the arcanum and fallout games. Crazy branching, really clever interactions, one of the best settings and lore which is unveiled in a really cool way.
There's not much of a single gameplay gimmick you can immediately pitch it on though, which most indies do have, except the variability in approach, even in individual specialisations.
Sorry for typos, phone
>>
>>124838073
1 and 2 were still very "newgroundsy" though fun, 3 and 4 are where the series really came into their own, with explorable levels and tons of customizable abilities and equipment on top of the combat. You should definitely try playing them.

It's certainly sad, but it's trying so hard to be sad that sometimes it comes off as just absurd how almost comically messed up one guy's life can be.
That and there's not much merit to it aside from just being a very sad story.

Am I just being too critical, does the game get better? Or did I fuck up and waste my money?
>>
>>124858109
I try to distance the gameplay elements from story ideas. I feel like I have a solid tone or atmosphere to shoot for, but I keep going to back to "metaphorical depiction of tragedy" for the story because that's how I see OFF portrayed, and it's still fresh in my mind.
>>
>>124859538
You wasted money, friend.
>>
>>124859538
I remember I had to pirate it twice to get a working copy and that made me not liking it even more.
>>
>>124859789
That's your problem.
Something that OFF and Undertale did was use their mechanics with their story.
It can be anything as blunt as Undertale's in-universe explanation for a save file, to OFF's really subtle deconstruction of Player-Protagonist relationship
Specifically in OFF, you might think that the character you control is a blank slate like many other video game characters or at the very least that their goals are your own, but the Batter has his own agenda. The game even messes with you by asking for "your name". Then rather than use it for the main character's name like a lot of other RPGs, it turns around and says "oh, that's your name? that's nice, but here's the main character who has their own name".
If you want to make a truly great game, you don't have to deconstruct or play with meta tropes like the games you cited do, but you should try to weave your mechanics and story together.
In ways as simple as Half Life not using traditional cutscenes but keeping you in control, or as crazy as Bioshock's whole twist being present in the mechanics from the get-go.

Many of the great indies were made in RPG Maker or in even simpler engines, so don't stress yourself too much trying to make the überengine or something like that because that's what kills the soul of most indie devs. If you're not a dedicated code monkey it's better to start with something simpler and make the full game on RPG Maker imo.

And always remember: there's no shame in making a game using a pre-made engine, practice makes perfect and stay determined.

Well, Lisa has a pretty unique story, so I think it's hard to find something very similar. If by that you mean "games with post apocalypse" think Middens (the Rift is a mashup of dead worlds) and Gingiva (the world is being devoured by the Rift) and Fishermen and the Worm have some similarities

Reminder that Rando was essentially abandoned in the apocalypse with his face mutilated and a stutter at 12-15 and yet he managed to build an army that basically dominated West Olathe and likely protected Mr. Beautiful's pacifist community in the East.

Now I really wish there was a game built around Rando building up his Rando army and making friends with other warlords. Maybe with Buzzo and the Joy boys as the primary antagonist.

What do you think it means that Rando wasn't on The List? Does that mean the Rando Army was literally weaker than Buff Van Dykes' gang?

Hell, even Buzzo wasn't on The List and from the gang war we see between him and Rando they seemed pretty big. Though for Buzzo I imagine it would have been because he's not willing to be a team player; unlike the other warlords who live in relative peace and trade with each other.

Hero's Realm might look a bit dated but it is basically one big love song to SNES FF games with crazy good job system-driven gameplay.

Another favorite of mine is Paradise Blue, another quest-driven game based on FFV's job system that has fairly nice-looking custom graphics.

Either he was removed from the list after he lost control of his army/Brad decimated it, or he wasn't on there at the first place because the Rando Army was on a higher level than any of the shitty warlord gangs on there; it was practically Olathe's budding government or police force that only the anarchic Joy Boys dared to challenge.

It isn't likely that it's the first choice since Buff Van Dyke was just crossed off after Brad killed most of his gang and convinced him to join his group. I do think that Rando's Army was definitely strong and Rando obviously had a hand in the politics involving the List.

I honestly think it's just Rando not interested in the ego trip that comes from being #1, knowing that if you put your name out there then eventually someone is going to come around and attack you just for the sake of getting their own name on the List.

I do agree with you though that Rando was really close to establishing a stable society in Olathe. From what we see the warlords on the List weren't hostile to one another. If I had to compare the List warlords, I'd compare it to a tribal confederation. The gangs on the List worked together to fight against violent gangs like the archer cultists and Joy boys, they also fought together to keep the Joy mutant population down.
>>
>>124883343

Gingiva is more linear (the Rift only appears in one chapter, and you can find the exit pretty fast) and looks more like a full RPG (with party members, more clear plot and an actual villain seen since the beginnimg), so I think you'll like it more.

Well, i played your game "Doritoe galaxy". It's actually quite fun, though a bit easy and of course, short. It left me hungry for more.
The graphics are appealing and shooting enemies is damn satisfying, even if their spawn rate seems to be a tad on the low side. The game is pretty unintuitive, it took me a while to understand how everything worked (though no more than 2 minutes).

As it is, i'd give it five doritos out of ten, maybe four since it is so small. If the game was longer with more content, but the same basic gameplay, it would rank a lot higher.
>>
>>124921025
thx for playing. yeah i didn't want it to be very difficult or tiringly long. i made it in a couple of days to learn game maker for some reason. i'm glad it's confusing but not so much that you would have given up on it. i personally like figuring out games given minimal information. i'm glad you enjoyed it

So, guys, I wanna to ask something.

I was following the indie general since when it was practically only Lisa posters, then it died for some weeks, later it got up and died again. What I mean is that now we have some nice pastebin that can and is getting bigger and better.

So please, don't let this general die again, with time we will bring more people attention and more games will be introduced.

>>

One thing people need to copy more from Earthbound is tonal shifts in music, rather than just the overall theme of a game:

Just got around to playing the Stanley Parable. I gotta say, people say it's mainly a comedy and I mostly agree, but it actually ended up unsettling me more than anything else. The subtle wrongness of the whole thing has thrown me off more than any horror game I've played.
>>
>>124968514
Comedy can be unsettling. It can be funny because of how wrong it is.

Question regarding Dropsy, is the cake being smeared through the door something that happens always or when you do certain things?
Also is anything timed, not in when things can be done at certain times but anything that you won't be able to do if you screw around too long?
>>
>>124968092
That song is pretty rad.
I felt that Flowey boss battle was inspired by this tonal shift to a certain degree.

True, and the game certainly made me laugh at times. But certain parts - the Narrator ranting as the time slowly clicks down to your death, or driving you to suicide, or begging you to stop as you repeatedly hurl yourself off a rampart to prevent you from killing yourself - gave me a real feeling of dread. That guy has real talent.

I think iwe should decide already too, however a strawpoll with a lot of games would take too much time and the general might reach the post limit before it's finished imo. I think that, at least for this thread, we should just suggest a game, and the game with most (You) wins.

Personally I would recommend Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden. It's a pretty good game with lots of humor and content that was made years ago (so most anons don't know about it, and the ones who already played it have forgotten most of it) and it's pretty challenging, so I think most anons would like it. Also the sequel is in the works, so that could generate good discussion too.

Another suggestion would be Exit Fate. It's a RPG tha borrows some elements from Suikoden (lots of recruitable characters with unique history and abilities) and Final Fantasy Tactics (army battles that plays like a turn based strategy RPG and a lot of political intrigue in the plot). It's kinda slow in the beggining, but once the plots builds up it draws you in.

Since it has a lot of different characters and a fuckload of bonus content, I think it would generate good discussions. Also the dev (SCF) is pretty unknown, most of anons never heard of his games or his art (he draws a lot, and puts his art in the game. Pic related is an example) so it would be a new experience for almost everyone in /indie/ imo. He also made two other games (Last Scenario, another RPG, and Call of the Underworld, a bullet hell) that could be discussed too.

/indie/-Indie Games General(IGG)

Slammin' with the best Edition

>NEWS

-We became friends with /agdg/! They will make games and prototypes, we will play them to give constructive feedbacks.
-We decided to make the !!!!!GAME OF THE WEEK!!!!!. Never heard about the !!!!!GAME OF THE WEEK!!!!!? Play it right now! Already played the !!!!!GAME OF THE WEEK!!!!!? Play it again right now!

>Want to make games? Go to >>>/vg/agdg

>What in fuck is this

/indie/ is a proposed general for all indie games, such as LISA, Yume Nikki, OFF, Bastion, Machinearium, Braid, Limbo, Axion Verge, Guacamele, The Desolate Hope, Sonic Dreams Collection, Doritoe Galaxy, etc.

Mobile or consoles, flash or unity, freeware or early acess. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hiddem gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?

We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads (since they have no other home in /vg/), however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

>How can I contribute?

All we need right now is people to talk about their loved indies, so don't be afraid to post, bump and reply your fellow anons. Also we're looking for anons to make new pastebins/wikis/images and update the ones we already have. Besides that, don't forget to play our !!!!GAME OF THE WEEK!!!! and other indie games to have lots of joy and to make more discussions to our general.

And please give lots of feel, love, kind and nice to everyone. S2

>WHERE ARE THE GAMES

-There's lots, but first our !!!!!GAME OF THE WEEK!!!!!

A Tale of Game's RPG made in 2008 which tells the story of the ex-NBA player Charles Barkley. In the year 2041 a jam of imensurable power, the Chaos Dunk, caused a cataclysm never seen before in the history of humanity. To prevent another disaster, thousands b-ballers were killed in what today is known as The Great B-Ball Purge of 2041 aka The B-Ballnacht.

Now twelve years later, in the post-cyberpocalyptic Neo New York, another Chaos Dunk was performed, and everyone thinks Charles is responsible for the heinous deed. The ex-b-baller, now a target of the B-Ball Removal Department, must prove his innocence in a tale of sacrifice, ballers and jams which will change his life forever...

love you

So, how is it? Too stupid or cringey? And again, how should we solve the size problem?
>>
>>125036972
>We became friends with /agdg/
No we didn't, at least not most of us - they're still mostly twats.
>>
>>125036972
>not Rando Love Thread Edition
>>
>>125037440

So should we change the text to something like "We made an agreement with /agdg/" instead, to avoid more problems with other generals? Or not mention /agdg/ at all would be better?

>>125037460

I thought that the edition name should be the weekly game (as the OP image), but we can change it too to put all Rando love we need. And desire.
>>
>>125037818
Don't mention them at all desu senpai, also
>rando love edition
>not cat incest edition
>>
So when is the new thread?
>>
>>125037141
you should just have one pastebin with links to the compendiums/recommended games lists.
>>
>>125040632
I dont know, can we last to 750 without images?
>>
>>125043616
Not at all.
>>
>>125043878
Then when someone decides to clean up the OP up top and make it themselves.
Which is gonna be in quite a while.
>>
>>125005606
This image warms my heart.

But we need more Yume, and some .flow as well.
>>
HAPPY 666th POST INDIE!
>>
Wait is this really general number 1? Sure moves slowly
>>
>>125036972
>that edition
I'm ready to play some vidcons with the neo general!
>>
>>125046923
We've had these for months
>>
>>125037141
Yeah, I think that all the info about the game of the week could be in the first or second post of the thread, but not in the OP outside of the image and perhaps an small mention..
>>
>>125047390
Yeah I got confused by the uy saying happy 666th
It doens't help that I'm past my 2nd beer
>>
|゚∀゚)ノHELLO-
>>
>>125046923
number four actually. We had the first one, the one with a Lisa OP then the "obscure" titled one, finally this one.
>>
>>125050242
And we had 4-6 /irg/ (Indie RPG General) threads before this
>>
>>125018779
Man, now I see why all the enemy NPC preferred to just waste their turns using Lick and Grope moves.
>>
Man, I miss the images.
>>
I'm back! I heard you all, and now I'm trying to polish the text so it can fit >>125047425 and >>125040871 in one post. Thanks everyone for the feedbacks!

>>125038370

Why not both? Cat Rando Love Thread Edition?
>>
>>125054740
>Cat Rando
wait what
>>
Done! Made the new text. Do I make the new OP now?

>>125054638

Me too, but soon we'll be able to post all good content again!

>>125037251

T-thanks, I l-love you too.

>>125054998

You know you want it.
>>
>>125057484
No, I want regular cat incest, you know the one.
Just hurry up because we can't live long without our neat images.
>>
Done!
