alright I figured out something about skell insurance

I hit level 30 and gave my old skell to one of my squad members

I REALLIY fucked myself over by letting the insurance get down to 0 before this happened, because you CAN'T buy more insurance

normally if a squad member dies, they do the perfect QTE and it doesn't count against insurance

BUT if the skell they're using has 0 insurance, you will have to salvage it every time it dies

so basically I can't let anyone use my level 20 frame skell, unless I want to keep paying out the ass for it

It's damn near impossible so I just use L in the 4th slot, with Elma and Lin in the others because they're required for all the story missions anyway. Everyone else stays low level. Doesn't matter if they die during their affinity missions, Elma and Lin wreck enough face on their own.

Also arrange your arts so that 3 or 4 of them combo together. Some of them have descriptions like "Does more damage in a ranged combo," meaning if you use it after you use a ranged art it'll do more damage.

Also, go to the arms manufacturers and beef up your weapon skills. A lot of the weapons from the default 2 manufacturers have Melee Up III and Ranged Up III which you can increase to VI.

But mostly the combo stuff.

As an example, here's my current setup:

XCX Build

1) Primer (boosts TP and makes crits do more damage)
2) Ghost Sniper (boosts crit rate, gives me TP with crits, and boosts ranged accuracy)
3) Electric Surge (Melee attack)
4) Zero Zero (Ranged attack, boosts TP when used after Melee)
5) Rising Sky (Ranged attack, more damage after Ranged)
6) Violent Streak (Ranged, boosts TP after ranged)
7) Executioner (takes 1000 TP, boosts damage after ranged)

And the last art is Ghostwalker which I pretty much just use while running around exploring in case I accidentally aggro some level 85 tyrant. Skills are Ether Boost (I'm using Ether weapons, and my melee art does Ether damage), Combo Gunner (makes all those ranged combos do even more damage), Trigger Happy (reduces cooldown on ranged arts), and Mindscape (boosts maximum TP).

It is so fun just initiating combat and hitting a monster with a 5 hit string that does like 900% damage boosted each hit. If a fight lasts longer than a minute it's usually because the monster is like 10 levels higher than me.

You can (and probably should) play as Elma for a bit if battles are going too slow and you can't personally bring the DPS. Elma's a FMJ and her arts are fucking brutal, but the AI can't play her for shit and relies on autoattacks and infrequent arts usage. It can, however, run a half-decent tank. You can rely on the computer to run your character while you use Elma as she's intended to be.

Anyone know where the Blackout augments would show up? I thought it would be in a debuff augments for weapons, but I'm not finding a debuff section at all.

Just look for probe sites that have sight seeing spots (+2000 revenue for each one) and link them together. Site 214 in Noctilum has 2 of them, and I put a research probe G6 I found on it to earn 11,000 from that spot alone. You should also move the 3 research nodes you got in the beginning to an area that has 2 or 3 sight seeing spots you can link together for the extra bonus to each one. I'm making 32,710 a round right now and I haven't started chapter 5 yet.

They give a disturbingly large amount of EXP. My friend was level 30 when I checked a few hours ago, and he had just finished chapter 5.
Whenever he saw a big monster, he went to kick its ass.

I didn't get my hopes up because I knew Sawano was an overrated hack but none of the songs at all are as catchy as Xenoblade. Xenoblade had music that constantly drove forward and were whistleable from start to finish. Sawano does his typical "nothing happens then 15 seconds of crescendo" bullshit which makes for really boring field music. The lyrics in the songs are also pretty shit.

I'm really nervous about missables. I've played for 19:36, I'm right before chapter 4 with 22.22% of Primordia surveyed, and I'm around level 14 or 15. I have over 100 people added to my affinity chart at this point, and I'm scared that if I don't speak to every single character after anything happens that I'll miss something.
