Do followers actually benefit from being in full armour or have any preferences for weapon types?
I'm using Curie right now with minuteman armour and some combat armour, letting her swap between a irradiating synth pistol and grognak's axe (may give her the shishkebab)

What's the best sword people have found so far? Been using general chao's sword for sooo fucking long and no melee weapons I've found have come close.

Graphics and gameplay by far, it actually feels enjoyable to use a gun in this game. I used a bolt-action rifle for 2/3rds of my play.

Raiders and almost all raider types are instantly hostile to you, minor factions have next to no quests, lack of replay value due to main quest structure and voice protagonist's lack of dialogue options/choices.

Is there a mod that makes the game run more smoothly or should I wait for updates?
Running everything on medium with all effects off but my gtx 650 ti still allows for stuttering ingame sometimes.

Weapon modding is pretty cool but you can't craft ammo.
Also, while I have many things I dislike about the way they implemented Power Armor, there's one thing about it they got ALMOST right. You do feel like a walking tank when wearing it.

Combat feels so much less clunky than in 3/NV it actually feels right, especially melee combat far more some retards call this a negative tho, can't imagine why.
AI feels abit better, not counting Vertibird pilots. Boston has a breddy goob atmosphere. Power Armor feels beefy now.
Factions are in, instead of just le only one choice, though the Institute is breddy dumb.

Rush Idiot Savant as that is how you level up. After that put a point in Rooted and a point in Moving Target as those are how you survive more than .2 seconds. Then level up your Melee and Unarmed damage

Put a point in Pain Train as soon as possible as that's EXTREMELY useful. It does a shocking amount of damage, lets you charge right through a crowd that's trying to trap you, stuns for an eternity etc.

Then get things like Blacksmith / Armorer etc. Blitz is also good for letting you gap close in Vats as you can seriously teleport like 50 feet with it and get sneak criticals. That + Ninja is a fantastic combo At some point you will want to pump some points into Endurance and get Adamantium Skeleton, Ghoulsih, Cannibal, Toughness etc. But those can wait until you have the core perks like Rooted and Pain Train.

The strategy is to charge right into battle and slam into the target then hit it with a power attack as you come to a stop. It will 1 shot 99% of the enemies in the game instantly. On Very Hard and Survival it will one shot Legendary Super Mutant Butchers and Death Claws with the melee/unarmed stat and Rooted/Pain Train maxxed.

It's absolutely ridiculous how much damage you will do.

Oh man, good point. I forgot how deep this combat system was, it takes months to really learn how to use VATS or in your case use power attacks in hand-to-hand so I can do epic animations. This game is really hardcore!

There's no interplay with blocking. They just do it mid swing animation and it's blocked. You keep strawmanning that I want just a simple hack n slash, and that's not the case at all. I want the melee to feel less like a tacked on feature.

It may not, depending on level. Raider survivalists are pretty spongy. I've only ever fired mini-nukes out of the Big Boy which fires two nukes at a time, so things generally don't survive anyway.
