Solid tutorial boss and introduction to basic combat and bossfighting mechanics. Biggest flaw is the camera in the long but narrow arena, but otherwise solid.

Excellent parry tutorial and an interesting fight both visually, atmospherically and in the way it's paced and ramps up in difficulty. Excellent buildup.

A joke. A large flailing mob that constantly breaks lockon by leaping past you and makes you constantly chase it. Taken apart entirely by walking diagonally right and relies on an ambient poison gimmick to be any threat whatsoever. Dark souls 2-tier boss.

Visually great, but essentially a simple "enter the blindspot and hit the weakpoint" gimmick complicated only by the boss' weird hitbox being difficult to hit, and the camera being functionally awful

Obnoxious hitbox on all of her movements for the sole purpose of staggering the player and a "explore before challenging the boss to prevent this" healing gimmick. Not bad, but not great

The approach of 'hit the arms to expose the head, hit the head for massive damage' is straightforward and the moveset is varied and aggressive enough to be interesting. Only real gripe is that it's profoundly unimpressive for a Great One that's been built up all game as gods of the cosmos.

Difficult but absolutely excellent fight that ramps up perfectly over the course to become a hectic and intense battle against a spellsword caster.

Stand behind me: the boss. If the purple haze was a legit second phase and remained for the rest of the fight she'd be an insane boss, but as it is she's a complete disappointment for the climax and fruition of the mission you've been on for the entire game.

Every bit as good as Gascoigne and a great, atmospheric finale to the game. Only real issue with this fight is that, by the end of the game, parrying is far too easy and detracts from the fight more than it improves it.

He died so fast I don't really have anything to say. Why is he even a boss? Maybe someone that's fought him for longer has a better idea about this guy.

Look at the head. She wriggles her macaroni before the dash. Also if you don't spam wildly or don't fuck up your dodge (counterdamage hurts) you'll survive even at base VIT assuming normal BriBri not D5 FRC one. TL;DR version: if you can't dodge consistently which is hard but possible, don't dodge at all and get run over, then heal.

Solid beast boss. The disengaging becomes excessive, but the moveset is varied and a fair challenge that makes it feel rewarding for learning his tells and the best way to avoid and punish each attack. Basically everything good about Paarl without the same flaws.
Ludwig 2nd phase
Amazing transition and an excellent climax to the fight. Moveset now is very reminiscent of souls games and a very-timing focused dodge->punish fight. Probably the single best skillcheck for iframe dodging in the game as a whole with an intense, relentless pace and solid gimmicks. Not without its flaws but overall excellent
>Living Failures
Mob boss, but done right. The fact that they aren't re-used mobs from elsewhere in the game, like the mooks in the emissary fight or the witches is a big plus and their moveset and mix of constant melee and ranged attacks from all sides makes the fight very high-tension. My biggest issue with this is that the fight outstays its welcome and takes longer than it ought to considering you do pretty much the same thing with little variation throughout. Not terrible, but not up to the standard Ludwig set. Music is amazing, though

Not much to say here. Everything that was good about Gehrman is still good here. The fact that she doesn't get a poise buff like he did is a bit of a letdown because she's so easy to stunlock, which can really trivialize an otherwise excellent fight. She's just the right amount of difficulty to maker parrying difficult but rewarding and not just a simple answer to the fight, like with Gehrman. Probably the best 'hunter' boss in the game.

That the huge buldup all through the dlc lead to a grey-skinned human with a bladed placenta is a little disappointing. He's visually unimpressive, but the actual bossfight is excellent. Varied moveset timed to challenge dodging and spacing in a variety of ways, opens himself both to parries and backstabs while letting neither ruin the fight.

I disagree about Orphan's visual unimpressiveness. His intro cutscene and the one that plays after his death make it clear that he's a sympathetic character, as much a prisoner of the nightmare as the hunters trapped within it. His mother was killed by human avarice, his people presumably slaughtered. Hell, he cries when he slithers out of Kos' womb.

A big, menacing monster just wouldn't have suited the tone of the encounter.

That's because you're trying to dodge the body.
If you look closely when she charges, she uses her right tentacle (left from your POW) to propel herself forward. The tentacle does something that looks like a grabbing motion and depending on your distance from her it can hit before (when you're close) or after (when you're farther) the main body arrives. Timing is tricky so just watch the tentacle and dodge that instead of focusing on main body. Also you have to notice the tell and start moving left immediately or the dodge distance won't suffice and you could get hit by big tube tentacle she's dragging. Try it, worked for me.
