Get Xenoblade Chronicles. You can save your game whenever you want, but unless you're versed in the Monster Hunter series and steamroll everything some MH4U hunts can take you upwards of 45 minutes. 50 if you fail by running out of time.

You never know how long a hunt will take and can't save in the middle of one so Xenoblade might be more practical for you.

There's no post-game content besides seeing the events/endings for every character, however, so if you wanted a longer game, PSMD would've been the better choice.
Stella Glow's 40 to 60 hours on the first playthrough alone, though, so it's not short by any means.

If you can find one cheap, yes, since we don't know jack shit about NX or even if its going to be backwards compatible. Plus, with the collectors bubble in full growth mode, it would be quite silly to wait for a year knowing most Wii U game prices (for at least the good games) are going to go up anyway.

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is a must-have (don't worry about it being a platformer, it's the best one on the system) and Mario Kart 8 has some pretty phenomenal DLC to go with an already entertaining game.
