In the case of physical dependence on Alcohol, it suppresses certain functions in your brain and as usage goes on, more is required for the same effect. If you suddenly stop, the suppressant is gone, and your brain is used to much lower amounts of the chemical than it is currently receiving, which can cause a rebound effect leading to a slew of health issues.

You seem to think that physical dependence on something is somehow generated by a persons feelings, and that is simply not the case.

Prolonged usage of anything without taking steps to counter it will cause chemical imbalances leading to physical addiction. It's a process of give and take not some made up bullshit about how your environment affects you.
