But yeah, vanilla was really disappointing.

I heard they're gonna improve the party system. I hope they change some of the party "missions". The "get 3 sims to kiss" always gets me.

The dreaded bills finally came. It's no surprise there, a sim can be certain of nothing but taxes and death. Well, they say the reaper can always be bargained with, but taxes are far more intransigent. What is surprising is they now owe just a little short of §2,000. As a head dishwasher at the restaurant, Lynn earns §16 per hour, which totals to §128 a day. Math was never her strong suit, but even she is all too aware that ends aren't meeting, nor are they likely to get any closer at this rate.

They live in a really nice house, but it was a house maintained by her parents, both of whom earned considerably more than she does. No matter how she looks at it, they'll have to cut back their living expenses, and their living standards.

Lynn was so sure everything would turn out just fine, but her magnum opus ended up selling for less than what she paid for the canvas. The art market just isn't what it used to be anymore. Or maybe she should had stuck with her original "mountains and rainbow" idea.

Before heading over to work, she stops by the living room to check on the kids. Alex has a deal with Luke, one day they watch children TV, the other they watch her comedy show. Lynn's heart might have been in the right place, but not the bills. If you're trying to hide something, on top of the dining room's table should be right on the bottom the list of places to put said thing. And it's not that Alex was being nosy, it's just hard to see an opened envelop lying around and not take a peek. She's also a pretty smart kid, she can put two and two together. Or in this case, put 2,000 and 200 together, which is how much the bills were saying they owned and how many simoleons they had on the family budget.

You can only wash dishes so hard before you start getting complaints that you're wearing the surface off. Maybe down the line she can start making more money with her paintings or get a few promotions under her belt, but not in time to prevent Landgraab Utilities from cutting off their electricity water. This is it. That TV saw and showed so many many happy moments ever since it was bought, not the least of which was that xmas day when Mom brought it over. That TV has an enormous emotional value for all of them, but as a family they can always make new memories. Making money to pay for the bills is considerably harder however, so they'll have to make do watching the panting Lynn made instead.

But she's not fooling herself thinking it's a proper substitute. As proud as Lynn is for that piece, she knows it's not nearly as hi-def as a 3DHDTV.

Alex finally comes back from school and plops down to watch TV. Then she notices the picture is a lot smaller than she was used to, and a whole lot less animated too. And she was supposed to be watching the evening soaps, not some sort of post-modern butterfly thing. There's a bug with that mod that makes the bills skyrocket if you have the frugal lifetime reward. According to the author the math to calculate the frugal discount is hardcoded and there's no way around it. If you have the mod you'll have to cheat-remove the frugal trait for the bills to be reasonable.

Lynn is a lone wolf and usually prefers to keep it to herself. That doesn't mean she doesn't like people, it's just that she's uncomfortable around people she doesn't know. But it's apart from the alien-apologist old lady from last week she hasn't spoken to anybody other than her little brother and sister. And it's been a long week too. She sure could use an outing to just relax and maybe get out of her shell a bit. A couple of drinks won't set the family budget too far back, will they?

So she set off to the Rattlesnake Bar in Oasis Springs. It's small and cozy and not too crowded, unlike the lounge. It's perfect for her. Lynn was actually trying to greet the bartender, but she took it instead that she was signaling how many drinks she was ordering. Lynn was too embarrassed to contradict it, and just accepted the five drinks.

Now she's spent far more than she was supposed to, and the small crowd attracted by the prospect of free zebra fizzes is making her mighty uncomfortable.

Oh and you can't leave the neighborhood during an invasion, like go to community lots and shit.
Also, each invasion last for 3 sim days and last invasion last 5 sim days.

Alex's week has been a very tense one. Nagging bills to pay, waking up at four of the morning to clean up coffee stains at the cafe, going to school to hear the teachers complain about her always turning in incomplete homework. And at the end of the day, coming home to a 3DHDTV-less house. Luke can play on the monkey bars or just run around outside and have an honest blast, but her teenager tastes are a bit more demanding in terms of what constitutes valid entertainment. She's just not that into books or chess, and playing Blicblock Tap on her cellphone wears off quite fast.

Now Lynn might be a bit on the ditz side of the perceptiveness scale, but she knows losing the TV and her beloved romance soap operas was a real blow to Alex. So when she saw a brand new Kaboon Box on the online catalog for 150 bucks, she decided they would just have to make room for it on the family's budget. Having her little sis wake up to a nice surprise for once is worth it.

It's not the new computer Alex was promised last week, but that's okay. Rocking her body to a cool beat with Lynn is just as awesome for her.

2 is a bit dated now. There's some little things that bug me in it like not being able to visit other homes with your Sims. Leveling skills is better in newer Sims games. And loading screens, especially the first time you run a certain town in TS2 are horrendous because it needs to load all things like weather and uh, I don't even remember anymore, but I remember sitting through it and thinking it was worse than Sims 3.
At least Sims 4 has normal loading times.

Right now 2. Infact I still think it's the best one overall.

4 just doesn't do enough yet. But the main systems, perfomrance, customisation.... eveything is way better than Sims 3. 2 is still my jam, but once it gets the content 4 has real potential to be the new Sims 2 for me.

I'm glad i've not had to pay for it though, because christ the amount of DLC is silly this time.

I say 4 is by far the better game, even if it's light on content at the moment.

I tried to play 2, it just felt really ancient. Loading times to go anywhere are long as fuck, performance was terrible on my good modern computer as well. Also, can't disable free will for the sim you are controlling. As I fucking hate free will, this was what finally killed it for me. Also, didn't play it at the time so I have no nostalgia for it which doesn't help.

What happens now is that I ask someone to sleep over, they woohoo, then one sim goes to sleep while the other one leaves the bed (presumably because they don't own the bed), and stays awake the whole night.
