Anybody else think the open world in this game is sort of boring and pointless?

I keep thinking the game would be better if instead of making these big open maps they just made a bunch of linear levels, basically just a shit load of sprites.

Without resources going into making big open maps we could have probably gotten a few levels in multipler areas on every planet and moon including Mercury and Europa.

I've been waiting for so long for this DIS47 roll and currently, I'm underwhelmed.

Firstly, the target acquisition and accuracy is really nice. With the 28 sights, the gun has really nice target acquisition and aim assist. Next, the ROF and damage are beautiful, it will kill faster than the MIDA multitool (although not really noticeably faster, mind you). The 2 less bullets in the mag are a non-issue in the crucible, due in most part to being a scout rifle and only needing 5 shots of the 18 round mag to kill, in comparison to 3 of the (on average) 7 shots of a hand cannon. Finally, with even just a single range perk, it is not going to have any issue competing with other types of primaries in crucible come december.

My only issue is the stability (for a scout rifle of that ROF that will primarily be shot full-auto) is lacking. The diagonal recoil hurts & chaining precision shots is much harder than a full auto DIS43 (although that's partly due to the ROF). I think a roll with perfect balance will be better (not changing anything else, as smallbore, 28 sight and full auto are ideal IMO) to help chain shots together. The range loss will hurt a little, so competing with snipers will be harder, but I don't think this gun will shine at that anyway considering the base range and stability are lacklustre, making it impossible to fix both the range and stability at the same time to combat the recoil and drop-off which would make combatting super far range enemies too hard.

High ROF scouts haven't really had a fair go in the meta yet.

The first prominence of rolled High ROF scouts was during the end of year 1 instant kill meta, where they obviously wouldn't have held up & now if you accept that pulse rifles have either too much range, too much damage or have the possibility to cause too much flinch, then they are shafted once again.

Next meta will be the first meta where range will be a large factor in primary weapons, so just by that basis, scouts will have a proper niche for the first time in the game (outside of the few rare cases of course). The decision on which scout to use will really fall to the player preference, arguing that any archtype of pulse is mediocre to another is stupid (IMHO) until I hear a genuinely well thought out argument.

i can't bear to see Bungie mistep again and again, making additions to the game that noone wants, needs or asked for, and support trends that kills game creativity.

Why remove effective weapons from a player's repitoire when you're gonna make them obsolete in the next patch? Why would they effectively remove the viability of old weapons that they claimed would carry over with your 10 year journey, that now can't even be used for any year two content? Why increase the grind in a game with next to no content, and remove playable options to make that grinding diverse at the same time?

The sad truth is that Bungie doesn't have a good reason. Some say the weapons nerfed were overpowered, and to that i agree, but why modify the perks on them, make them useless in new content and remove the ability to upgrade them all at the same time? it's overkill. one of those would have worked just fine.

Unless it's not Bungie making the creative decisons when it comes time to lengthen the game. People dismiss the microtransactions as a cosmetic change only, and then when game-changing consumables that only makes sense to be sold to us are datamined, they see the backlash and ease our collective minds. We'll never see those items in Destiny, but they were going in if we didn't object.

The fact that RNG can bar a good player from ever hitting max level in the vanilla game or crota's end was a pretty poor design choice, and in House of Wolves, just when we thought the days of RNG ruling your experience with an iron fist was over, they introduce randomized light levels and Infusion.

I've never worked so hard for things I'd immediately throw away in a game as i did in the Taken King.

And there's the content issue; Strikes left out of playlist rotations, Finished Exotics locked behind time-gated events for months, and crucible maps removed from the game to be finished properly.

What this game has become disgusts me and many of my friends with over 1000 hours, and i personally haven't touched this game since Hard Mode Kings Fall was released, because that was the final point that proved Bungie has no idea what the hell they're doing; The loot from hard mode is literally a different color with a high number on it. it's pretty insulting when you can call that a reward worth hundreds of hours of gameplay.

I've changed my mind, it's not good. Not enough stability. You're going to be missing headshots with that roll. Don't pick it up. The one I currently have has MORE stability and still kicks to the left in a really weird recoil pattern.

The roll you want is SPO-28 sights with Hammer Forged, CounterBalance and Smallbore. All others are inferior. Also acceptable third perk is braced frame.

Yeah, but when you're endgame getting all your gear from raids, you'll barely be spending glimmer or legendary marks and need to spend them if you want to avoid sitting at the cap. You can only have 200 legendary marks, and dailies give like 15 I think, so if you're maxed out you essentially have to buy mats to avoid waste if you're doing anything that rewards marks.

I've actually been playing Bladedancer in trials recently. It can fuck people up if you learn to use it when it's not expected. A lot of teams panic when they see it coming towards them and forget to focus fire. It's not so good on those midrange maps however, as you'll be Thousand Yarded.

My main weapon atm is the PDX with Hammer Forged, Outlaw, Smallbore. It's definitely an excellent weapon, but I'd trade outlaw for counterbalance in a heartbeat; it would mean I could essentially pump the trigger without having to worry about recoil at all. Maybe I'm not 1337 enough to run 0 stability perks at all, but I couldn't care less, correcting that recoil so you can max your fire rate on this archetype of pulse, while still moving and jumping, is the most effective way for me to get kills with it.

dont get me wrong counterbalance is probably the 2nd best perk you could get behind headseeker, I just dont think its really necessary. If you can control the recoil then Hidden Hand or mayyyybe rangefinder would be up there as well. Just saying that unless you want a 100% perfect roll on it then the HH roll this week is very good. I dont know exactly how impactful rangefinder is but after the December update anything to help with range will keep this PR archetype relevant.

Anything to increase damage is objectively better than an unnecessary recoil helper. If you really are that bad at a game that practically aims for you then idk why youre not advocating for HH/SPO-28.
