It's an ancient Alicesoft based card game from the early 2000s that nobody remembers. It has some really cute artwork of almost every character you could think of. I recently found a collection of most of the art buried deep online.

So all of the endings in Daibanchou besides Kunagi and Senna's happen at the same time, right? Rouga doesn't leave Japan in any of them and they mention Rouga visiting Sanae's flower shop in Sion's ending. That's pretty cool. It's weird that Rouga's jacket suddeny gets an orange stripe on it in all of the endings though.
A sequel where you get to choose at the beginning whether Rouga goes to America or Europe would be awesome.

Neither of them really had enough going on in them in Kichikuou to sustain an entire game. Helman has Patton's revolution directly tied to it, and they just added parts of the Holy Magic Sect plotline to it in IX.

Zeth has the internal power struggle within the government already in KR, but it's pretty bare bones and doesn't really give much to work with in terms of what Rance could do in it. Adding Ice Flame gave it an easy way of bringing Rance into the politics.

JAPAN is almost tacked on in Kichikuou, though it seems like they were intending to have it be an RPG with Demon Nobunaga as the final boss for a very long time, and only changed it to an SLG when they'd already started working on Sengoku.

Kenshin was a smash hit remember, and the character type seems popular in Japan (shit taste). Hornet also has all the hallmarks of one. She could easily end up being anything else, but the possibility is pretty real.

Shizuka is actually Hornet's mother.
Rance will die before Shizuka manages to acknowledge that she loves him.
She will regret and try to go back in time to save him. But it will fail and she will go back to far.
Gi will find her and rape and impregnate her and then take the baby (Hornet).
Shizuka will be angry and hate Gi and when she gets captured and raped by Kayblis she will give birth to Maris and leave behind her malice and grudge towards Gi to her daughter.

Ithere looking up to both Hornet and Shizuka hints at this.

Kanji's difficulty gets overhyped I think, but some people do struggles with it. It's definitely best to start with basic kanji because most of them carry into the complex kanji, and furthermore have similar meanings so you have a much easier grasping that x kanji is associated with x concept

I think all young men are indoctrinated into the military when they reach a certain age (If Lelyukov is anything to go by, he's been in a soldier since he was 10) but they have to pass a test in order to become a knight. The Leadership skill isn't much about charisma to gain people over, but rather being skilled in command a big group of people. coordinating them and all that shit. With Leadership 2, Barres can command over the whole Leazas army efficiently.

Fun fact: Hanzou is the only long range character in Daibanchou with a walking animation for whatever reason.

The Mamatoto references in IX were fine, though it is a bit lame that they chose to make their second to last game rely so heavily on references to a completely unrelated game, especially when the story is so serious otherwise.

I was thinking that if each card had specific effects on the kid that was produced by it and there were more player input on the Kid creation process you could have a pretty complex unit making system that would allow for greater strategies. Generally I feel like Mamatoto's gameplay lacks depth even though it seems like it could easily have some.
