Procedural myth generation is confirmed, he's talked about the generator prototype already. Multi-material objects (like the current instruments) will probably be expanded into other item types. He'll finally decide what magic is gonna look like and start getting that going. Probably an expansion of night creatures' roles in worldgen and maybe in fort mode. also, my forts are all basically organised into custom professions through DT, it's how i keep track of literally everything, from dwarves on temporary construction jobs, to squads, to actual roles and jobs.

You can determine a dwarf's role suitability just by looking at its thoughts and prefs screen. And v-p-l'ing a migrant wave as it enters the map is really easy and almost entirely eliminates the need for a tool like the rapist outside of mass labor reassignments. It's not a scripted event, it's not incidental NPC dialogue, they're actually talking about something and then getting satisfied/upset over the course of the conversation based on their individual beliefs.

Something quite crazy just happened to me /dfg/

I've started a new fort in the new version to try it out, seems fun so far. Anyway I'm building, checking on my wagon etc when suddenly I see a group of rhesus macaques bum rushing my wagon, so I pause, form a quick militia and order them to slaughter the macaques.

So, checking out the combat logs afterwards I find this strange entry. A Farmer attacked a Macaque with something called Pathways to the Hamlet. So, confused, I go to check it out. I hit 'L' to check artifacts, (assuming I won't find anything since nobody has gone into a mood) when there it is, Pathways to the Hamlet, it's a codex.

A farmer just bludgeoned a monkey to death with a book.

CLA is the name of a couple of things:

If you know what you're doing, selecting your target manually is better, walking into them is just using opportunities and shit.
Specifically, different weapons have different strengths, and sometimes you have an opportunity to use heavy attacks, while at other times, using a quick attack might be advantageous.

There was a forum thread about dwarven martial arts that mentions a lot of things that are true for combat with weapons as well.

These don't apply to fortress mode or adventure mode, but rather the game as a whole, world simulation, or whatever you want to call it. It's just that adventure mode often reaps the most visible benefits from it, since it's still so barebones to begin with.

For example, what do you want Toady to work on? Economy? Wars? There is a LOT to be done until that works, and chances are that about 80% of the work you perceive as "not related to fortress mode" is strictly necessary to get to these features at some point.

You can make a tavern out of your main meeting hall. That tends to solve 1/2 my problems. 1 general temple with no specific deity solves their prayer needs. I imagine I'll have to make a separate temple for each god later.

Dorf Fort was originally Slaves To Armok 2: Remove Graphics, because toady realized he'd never be done if he had to keep making grafics.
So, originally, dorf fort was all about adventure mode, and most of the design doc shows that.
However, since exploring whatever ruins toady generated at first was pretty lame, he decided to add the fortress building feature, so that after abandonment, fortresses would be fun to explore as adventurers.
Then development shifted to fort mode because everyone loved it.
