Any tips for a new guy into Fallout? I had way too much fun killing raiders with the mini-gun and I had to cheese Deathclaw with regular pistols. Outside of that I had one not responding crash, and that was because I slept for 24 hours in Sanctuary and kept alt tabbing. I've had maybe two other glitches, the one where Piper will get knocked to the floor and not get up, and one where a car prop wasn't spawned correctly when the world loaded up and as I was walking down the street the thing launched at me like a rocket and killed me.

It's a pain in the ass to figure out which part of the gun you're editing half the time, because it's all one big white or red area that looks the same as the other white/red areas.

Plasma guns are much easier to look at and figure out by comparison, Laser even easier than that.

I haven't checked the stats, but it's the first suit I've stumbled across that hasn't been the T-60 that you get from the BoS/ Start mission, or a raider set

Technically, it's the T-51. You get the "b" by upgrading. But, nitpicking.

The T-60, statistically, will always be better than the T-51, because PA comes in tiers; T-45, T-51, T-60, X-01. Depending how you upgrade, you can make T-51 better than the base X-01, but upgraded X-01 will always outclass the others. Blame Bethesda for being shit, and sticking to a tier-based armor system.

I'm happy you guys are enjoying F4, but I'm not. Not anywhere near as much as I enjoyed FNV anyway. F4 isn't bad per se, it nails some of its mechanics really well. I'd even say it's the best ARPG of its type simply in terms of FPS mechanics, but the RPG part is where it falls short and I've never really been much of a shooter guy anyway. The dialogue feels uninspired and you don't get much room to build a distinct character because of the really confined dialogue wheel. There's also really only two distinctly different playthroughs possible (melee and range, explosives aren't fleshed out enough to count and high/low int/chr really doesn't change jack), so when I compare the amount of replays I'm getting for my moneywith New Vegas, F4 just makes me feel cheated.

None of which feel meaningful or different because you as a player are forced into chasing Shaun, a character with literally five minutes of screentime as your only incentive where he has zero lines of dialogue and you only interact with him for three seconds. The whole story is set in motion because your character is decided to be a loving father who wants to save his son, but I really didn't agree with my avatar there. There's no real reason for me as a player to care at the beginning of the story, and it creates a dissonance where my avatar wants to do something I don't, which pulls me out of the game.

I'll still play it for mods so whatever, but saying the game is better than NV as an RPG considered is subjectively incorrect until someone proves me wrong.

Yeah, no shit. But there could have been some effort made to balance things. Making one armor better at radiation shielding, another have more net durability, another provide superior physical defense, etc. A little base level variation would have made things waaay better for PA. There would actually be a bit more incentive to use other pieces of a suit instead of a whole suit of one type.

Anyone else getting low GPU usage, and obviously, low FPS?

I looked it up and found a guy who was getting 20 FPS on a freaking 980 Ti and i7. He disabled multithreading support and his usage, temps, and FPS shot up to expected levels, since apparently Bethesda's new DX11 multithreading is a clusterfuck. However, that did nothing for me.

Here's how to disable it anyway if you have a similar problem. It might help.

Heavy weapons feel really non-viable.

I would like to mod the assault rifle into a heavy machine gun (why use assault rifle when the combat rifle is better anyway?) and make it spawn a lot earlier, then turn the minigun into a rarer and more powerful lategame weapon.

Beth has fucked up so badly with the way ammo and mods are handled that it'll be hard to sort out and rebalance this mess.

I think Deus Ex has surprisingly good graphics or at least renderer. I have tried to play a few mid 2000 games and they looked like blurry mess. Deus Ex looks bad but at least it's clear and crisp.

Fixer was supposed to be for temporary addiction removal, there's a bug in NV where it has both the Temporary and Permanent addiction removal scripts. The notes for Fixer say it's temporary addiction removal, the description says it's temporary, but nobody ever patched that bug.

Shaun outright states that the reason why The Institute had to kidnap him in order to complete the synth project was because the radiation form the war DID get to them while they were hiding in the CIT basement in the early years.

Also, the Brotherhood was formed by soldiers, not scientists. They had to learn form square one what CIT knew from the beginning.

Yeah, sure. But no matter how much trash you strap on, it isn't going to get as good as far more advanced model (far, far more advanced, as far as I can read from the wiki-pages on it).

Maybe you could use Cambrige Polymer Labs to upgrade worse armors to better levels, not entirely as good, but it could explain why you could make them better.

In general, sure, but in this particular case, isn't X-01 more advanced than "advanced power armor" (Enclave elite stuff)? It's clearly much more advanced in any ways that would matter for a power armor.

There should me more upgrades, but there's a point where you can't retrofit old items to make them as good as new ones.

Cryolator has ammo. It's got a lot you can buy. It's just expensive as fuck.

If I remember correctly, it's something crazy liked 26 caps per 1 ammo. But I haven't played with that gun in a week or two.

A big problem is that many heavy weapons are unique. Junk jet, cryolater, broadsider. That's almost half of them. All that's left are the minigun (trash unless you find the right legendary), fat man, missile launcher and gatling laser. My first character got to level 50 without ever seeing a gatling laser.

It's not like heavy weapons are even *good* for how rare their ammo is and their massive weight aside from the fat man, and even then nuka grenades are craftable and less weight.

Technically the Institute had built their own vault under CIT and had moved all their important shit down there before the bombs fell. They tell you this if you read the terminals.
