Operation Freedoms v1.4.3

Added extra 343s and 148s to the ammo boxes
Added working backpacks to the ammo boxes
Unable to remove shitty non-working backpacks from the ammo boxes
Updated spectator script to latest -working- version!
Zeuses may still be required to disable ACRE plugin and change TS channels in order to hear each other.

Escort Nikos Mini v1.9 TEST

Escort Nikos for small ops is now available but hasn't been put through a full battery of tests yet, so expect some bugs if you decide to play it. Please shitpost about anything that goes wrong so I can fix it.
>>
>>123794428
I might have fixed Shaker Loops on Bornholm so that it doesn't auto-kick people upon selecting the mission. v0.0.6 is the latest.

I'm working on another Bornholm mission, but it'd be nice if other people made some too. Operating on Takistan/Altis/Stratis/Chernarus tends to get old after awhile.
>>
You guys still active? I'm about to get a new computer so I can consistently play now.
>>
>>123795206
Yeah, and getting more active. Weekday ops are making a come-back. Less shitposting means the thread dies though.

guise,

how do i git gud at this game? I just picked it up and I'm having a huge problem sighting enemies. I'm trying single player to learn some of the mechanics, and despite me trying to sit by cover and watch for enemies, I never see any.

I'm suddenly flanked, and when someone is shooting at me, I can't find them. If I do, manage to finally locate a target firing at me, the sway is so damn bad that if i manage to get one hit, I'm usually dead by the anyway.

What gives? I figure I should be playing with a team to increase my chances; but playing campaign is frustrating the shit out of me.

I'm running out of keyboards.
>>
>>123794428
The problem with ACRE seems to be one of the Zeus players randomly losing the ability to hear the other.
>>
>>123825994
Single player is a joke and unplayable. Just join a3g and actually have fun with this game.
>>
>>123826128
aw, is it really that bad?
I was hoping to use it as a 'tip of the iceberg' tutorial to get used to shooting various weapons and be exposed to typical battle scenarios.
>>
>>123826509
It's good for learning keybinds and some stuff but most modded games will be much more playable.

and is that the game? Like 64/32 humans vs. AI? There are no humans on the 'enemy side' playing?

I thought this would be slightly more complex Battleifled 2 where you are human vs. human.

>>123830790
>3rd person fake marines

absolutely disgusting
>>
>>123830790
Oh and this player is editing the map while he is palying against AI?

Is there any 32v32 human gameplay in this?
>>
>>123830937
>>123830790
Yes and yes, Arma 3 is basically a framework where you can do anything with the correctly configured missions and mods.

There are mass scale team v team operations.

Everyone mostly plays generic PVE operations because of the ease of scripting/objective creating/theming and the necessarily smaller player-counts.
>>
QuiZNo literally getting banned right now
>>
>>123831474
Do you happen to know some good video material of humans vs. humans gameplay?

Sorry if this is a retarded quesiton but wouldn't human vs. human gameplay require less scripting?

How good is the A.I. in this game?

I have no idea, most PvP gameplay is pretty fucking boring, m8o.

Our TvTs typically turned into 15 minutes of preperation, sneaking, and then five minutes of furious and disjointed engagement as you steadily lose contact with your squad in bursts of gunfire, cowering in your chosen house with the HVT keeping the door covered, just waiting for that knob to turn.

Shitty, IMO.

No way to control someone's rules of engagement without massively autistic rules, right?

Eh, if the PVP is that bad the game is not for me. I don't see the point or even like multiplayer online games against A.I. Absolutely loved the PVP of BF2 outside the 'nade spamming shit.

You don't really understand Arma's PVE until you play it, the AI can range from absurdly good with certain modifications turned on to relatively average.

With the addition of body armor, support assets, and a zeus taking control or nudging them in the right direction to fuck with you, it can be a pretty engaging experience.

After all, it takes you three shots to knock them down with most rifles, sometimes as many as six with 5.56 against body armor.

They can drop you in one.
Depending on the difficulty it can be quite the slaughter for your team even against AI.
Add vehicles to the mix? There goes half the squad.
>>
>>123833135
'Zeus'? That is the option/player controlling the battlefield of Arma III?

In Jester's videos, he was both playing and controlling the battlefield.

Is it always like that - that the 'Zeus' is also a player? If he is always a player (and not 'observer'), why?
>>
>>123833272

refer to this webm for what Zeus sees: >>123833130

He's a player given limited control of the game's editor and the ability to assume control of certain AI.
He's there to make the mission more difficult, structure it to his demands, add new objectives, help you out if something is fucked, and generally operate as the "game master".
For example, in the operation we played before there's only limited numbers of AI on the map to start out with, Zeus is given a relatively clean slate and certain objectives premapped for us to do.
He can reinforce certain areas as he sees fit, spawn vehicles, create roadblocks with enemy infantry backing them up, emplacements, etc.

It's something you really can't get anywhere else in video games when done correctly.
>>
>>123832715
Wasn't that Friendly Fire? That whole compound was clear.
>>
>>123833485
It was a space kebab, possibly Zeus controlled, who was in and didn't count towards the objective, somehow.

He tossed a frag or two into that blob.
>>
>>123833272
It depends on the mission maker's intent. SOme missions have objectives already set and the zeus can add a little spice here and then and make the AI behave a bit more intelligently. Or they're responsible for setting up all the enemies at objectives, even creating new ones.

Zeus can start out disembodied or have a body of their own so they can participate. Either way they can also take direct control of units to play in first person a little too.
>>
>>123833485
That was a single space kebab in a building you guys missed. I directed him to leave the building and head toward the commotion, which lead him to the edge of the compound where several bluefor were blobbing. He had his pistol out which leads me to think he was out of ammo, except for grenades. He was not under direct control. Apart from setting his waypoint, he operated on his own.
>>
>>123833781
Ah fair enough. Does make me wonder why the person who took that screenshot is using the space kebab weapon which must have no ammo.
>>
>>123834267
There was another space kebab that I stole the gun from as
>5.56mm
>ever

Enjoy pumping five to ten rounds of ammunition into a guy and him not dropping depending on what AI and carriers they're using for the operation.

The Katiba is also a very satisfying sounding weapon in my opinion.
It's quite thud-y.

If I have the server keys for ACE3 on my server and I am running a vanilla Arma 3 mission, is there a way to use the ACE3 interaction menu without having the actual mods installed on my server? As I can use the goggle effects and other things such as gforce and extra ammunition, but is this possible?

tl;dr, can you use ACE3 as a client-side mod and have interaction menu.
>>
>>123836081
ACE3 is modular, so you can delete everything except for the interaction stuff if you really wanted to.

I'm not sure if this is necessarily the right place to ask, but since it's a mod for the game, I hope it is.

Is there any sort of DayZ mod for this game yet, and if so, which one is the most functional currently? I see a few things on the Workshop that say they've got zombies, and google brings up a few servers and sites, but I have no idea which ones are actually the right ones, if any. Could someone help, please? I'm new to the game.

There are some servers that require others mods as well. A few of us (in a3g) were playing on a server hosted by TPG that required Chernarus (AIATP mod), Ryan's Zombies and Demons, and RHS.
