Depends, Nightstalker is the most useful so people will say that. For pve whatever one you can kill the most stuff in and stay alive really, they all have their places. Arcblade is a great close-range build for pve with invis on melees, Gunslinger has reload/stability buffs and can create orbs pretty well, Nightstalker has Courage of the Wolf is really good at creating orbs and with blackhole you can tether huge groups of enemies. Arcblade + Showstopper R2 works well to clear groups of enemies. This is all with pve in mind. People like Nightstalker for pve and Nightstalker/Bladedancer for pvp.

Gunslinger is best for pvp. And nightstalker is close behind. Tripmine is arguably the best and most adaptable grenade in the game. And throwing knives are GOAT if paired with hand cannons or Monte Carlo. Not to mention one of the best offensive supers in the game.
While nightstalker has okay grenades with lockdown spike grenade being the best IMO. And they have the best melee in the game with envenomed smoke bombs. Literally no melee in the game can compare to this not even sunbreakers thermal vent or sunsingers flame shield. Smoke bombs are better than some grenades. Add to that shade step which is incredible if used right or literal wall hacks and increased sprint speed from keen scout and you have an incredible pvp class if you're more of a defensive player

It's got utility beyond I'm gonna punch you or magic slap. And it's more useful than throwing knife. The ability to lock down an entrance so anyone coming through starts a gun fight weak and half blind is incredible. Or locking down heavy. Or throwing it on a control point to help you team clean them up. Or throw two at the start of a match to a point you know every enemy is running to like the middle area of Sector 618 and weaken every enemy on the team. You can't do that shit with the warlock meeles. And thermal vent can kinda do some of that but not at a distance like smoke bombs.

Icarus is good on some weapons. Fusions rifles with it are pretty fun. Auto rifles can be okay with them as well. Also depends on what class you are using it on. Warlocks benefit the most from it since they have the slowest jump. And guerilla fighter is only useful on certain maps. Pretty good on memento with all those cars in the middle. Though yes as a whole its not a great perk. Most people don't realize there's a cover system in the game. I've been playing since January and I only just found out a month ago.

IMO warlock mains are usually extremely arrogant sometimes undeservedly. Not to mention that they seem to receive preferential treatment from bungie. Sunsingers in particular. They have the longest range melee while not being billed as a front line class like titans which arguably should have the best melee since they are literally described in game as enjoying punching things. when the phase comes where he tries to kill you with his bombs/lightning or whatever and you have to run, where should the defenders who are up top run? those who have a platform can go around their platform, but obviously the defenders wont have one.

We clear all the blights, then all 3 of us rush in with exotic swords, and I would place an armor of light bubble right on top of the boss and we'd all burn him with our swords. this has been bugging me since destiny came out. how do level work in this game? it's not like every other game where if your level is way higher you can one shot things with your weakest attack. in destiny it's like they level you down depending on the mission. also why can't a level 40 1 hit melee a level 2 vandel?

Level is just a sense of progression. The only time level matters is in high level PvE where 1 higher than you its 14% less damage dealt, 2 levels higher 30% less, 3 levels higher 50% less, ect.

Could you imagine if this game was subscription based? I bet that's the direction its heading. Bungavision's going to claim "well we have to keep up with the content the players want so we need money". And in that case Id gladly pay if we actually get new pve/pvp shit every week and a bunch more quests. A sub will cut out a lot of the shitters/cancer from the community too when they realize have to pay for it.

Also think the reason Bungie's so quiet right now is because theyre developing the next DLC. We're probably going to hear from them in December at some PSX conference, need to find a source for that but I read it recently somewhere.

pvp IS good. Balanced? Not entirely, but you should be able to do good with every class.

You can go from shitter to K/D god in a few days, just keep experimenting with weapons and class perk setups until you hit that sweet spot.

When people say balanced they mean weapon balancing first class balancing second. People want to be able to use whatever they want in crucible and do well with it. I think it may get a bit closer to that in the new patch if only they would change snipers aim assist and a few other things. The classes will never truly be balanced until sunsingers no longer have burn scan grenades taken out of the game and sun breakers have reduced armor and less heal on kill and stormtrance doesnt have a auto aim melee that reaches halfway across the map to name a few problems
