Micromanagement Hell Edition

Old thread - >>123391817

Dominions is a fantasy turn-based strategy game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher.

The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 2800 units, 800 spells and 300 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously, with players planning battles rather than directly controlling them.

It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.

Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a strategy game.

So I found recruitment costs for standard units, any ideas if these should change at all? (does anyone even use swordsmen and heavy infantry?)

This, desu. I keep mine with my catapults and drag them around together when I'm ready to shuffle over to a castle.

I think every class should get slightly different basic units (stat- and equipment-wise). It feels immensely boring having to recruit the same shitty spearmen for everyone, especially seeing as Dom4 completely avoids this problem.

Why not just wait for the modding support
>>
>>123605885
Only 7 classes use normal human troops, and of them the only ones that use them in large quantities are the Baron but he gets them for free and the Warlock, but that's more of a problem of shit magical resource income inherent with that class.
>>
Okay, so I have played through a couple of games of coe4, I have been to agartha, inferno, and the void, but how do you get to the other planes? What are the other planes? I assume that one of them is the elemental plane but that still leaves one plane. Is there anything you can do other than get more resources in the other planes?

Magic phase battles are like move phase battles - first all movement is resolved, then all fights happen. Any spells that put units into a province all happen, then the units in that province fight as they would at the end of movement phase.

I think that attack spells sometimes will hit units moving teleporting/trapezing out and sometimes won't based on when the spells are cast (which, and again I'm not sure on this, I think is tied to unit ID?)

>>123608532

Swordsmen and heavy infantry aren't bad because of their cost. They're bad because you generally can summon a lot of better melee units anyway, and therefore a recruitment turn is better spent on ranged capabilities. Also heavy infantry are slow.

Anakites are solid, but they are so expensive and MA Ashdod is so cap-restricted that they invariably get shitkicked every game.

Also, illuminati are great, but LA ulm suffers more from not having any depth in any paths. They get level 2 in only two paths, and don't get any further in any, natively. Solid/strong nations, but not nearly as good as this scrub thinks.

>N9E4 Anakites don't really have much weakness besides cost
They're cap-only and cost a ton of resources, so you have very limited recruitment.

Cost is also a very significant weakness. Units which cost nearly as much as a mage are usually situational.

Skellyspam is another great tactic against them.

Check its slots again.

You could do it, but you'd need one of the misc artifact astral boosters (or a ring of your own), both of which are hard to forge. The easiest is A2S2, and most nations don't get S/A mages.

>>123616104
I'd like it to be a lot higher, especially for mages from your base faction.

I'd also like to be able to get mages which let you use other resources (hands of glory/sacrifices/etc). It would probably be broken, but it'd be fun.

Derp, I forgot about that. You're right, it's not worth the hassle of GoRing it and losing it unless you have some clever use for one turn of S5

>>123616501
I haven't tested it with greater horrors, but doom horrors and the guys from Agartha's national spell both have left after an average of two turns, ranging from the turn after they're summoned to as long as four turns later. I'm guessing it's a flat 50% chance.

>>
>>123616637
>Should I eliminate the need to actually have a library for any chance?

That's actually the faction bonus for Senators, iirc.

Also, the one thing that I want more than anything from a CoE mod is the ability for all nations to stop all of the spawns. The fact that you have to be lucky to turn off ancient forests as some races but not others is annoying as balls. I like dwarves, but I fucking HATE deer
>>
>>123616636
>I haven't tested it with greater horrors, but doom horrors and the guys from Agartha's national spell both have left after an average of two turns, ranging from the turn after they're summoned to as long as four turns later. I'm guessing it's a flat 50% chance.
Oh, and this was with debug mod, using Super-wish to wish for the monsters and Super-GoR to awaken them. I doubt that it matters, but still.
>>
>>123616762
Hmm, perhaps I could give the senators a flat bonus to library level instead?

Wouldn't turning off spawns really fuck over the druid/mine controlling factions?
Could always give everyone the ability to (b)urn?
>>
>>123616637
>Should I eliminate the need to actually have a library for any chance?
I would like that.

Assuming >>123616762 is right, maybe make it a smaller chance than with libraries, so senators still have a bonus?

>Not sure which mages count as base faction, are these actually a thing?
Stuff like apprentices for Necromancer, acolytes for Demonologist. Level 1 mages who can use rituals using your faction's resources.

You can get them even without a library, though it's not common.

I think they would also give access to their specific resource if you got them as another faction, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
>>
>>123617134
>Wouldn't turning off spawns really fuck over the druid/mine controlling factions?
I just meant the ability to cap ancient forests and the like, the way that all factions can cap graveyards even though only hands of death nations can use them.
>>
>>123614879
It's mainly the other factors as well. Giant nations usually have gold inefficient researchers, but Ashdod gets ones with research bonuses. Giant nations usually don't have good diversity on mages, but Zamzummites fulfill this role quite well. They can use SCs if necessary with Adons and have access to powerful end game summons.
Ulm has their iron blizzard smiths, their fortune tellers for site searching, and their crazy vampire nobles. For early game, they got stealthy crossbowmen and armored zweihanders.
The nations tend to be strong at every portion of the game unlike most others.

Uh... I assume you mean using the site searching spells, because their paths are awfully low and they still need boosters to even cast the death and nature ones.

>For early game, they got stealthy crossbowmen and armored zweihanders.
Zweihanders are true Ulmites in true Ulmish plate relying on pure Ulmish strength and every true Ulmite should use them extensively to show their Ulmish pride, but they're not actually good at winning early wars.

Rangers are extremely strong, though, it's true.
>>
>>123617603
70% of sites only need X1 to be found iirc. I only use search spells for wastes, swamps, and thrones
>>
>>123617920
That is more true of some elements than others. Astral and Nature in particular lean more towards the higher levels, and death has a large number of 3 sites. These are all the paths that she can search. If she were fire/water/air, sure she'd be great at just searching. For the sorcerous paths, though, you want higher levels or spells.
>>
>>123617872
Zweihanders are pretty damn tough for humans.
Mainly because they can wade through enemy and friendly xbow fire fine and can one shot most things they hit.

Just asking in general mate, I was never interested in them because I assumed the fatigue costs still applied, but was doing some testing and found that it only uses the commander's base spell-casting fatigue. Figured someone else might have more experience and would know if they're worth forging after more useful artifacts are taken.

>>123620424
A basic scout has a spell-casting encumbrance of 5. Equip him with a tempest, set him to cast spells, and because the only spell he can cast is the one given to him by the item, he will proceed to cast thunderstrike 20 times until he passes out, and then he will begin to cast thunderstrike every other turn.

I am asking if it's worth forging these items, or if most battles would be over by the point the steady stream of spells would make a noticeable difference.
>>

Frozen Heart doesn't target it and I'm not sure the evocations can kill it or opposition get through its mr
>>123620792

So I've actually fought an N9 shroud golem with otherwise similar items and those don't work. T strike doesn't kill it through regen because the vast majority miss, frozen heart and opposition are both out of range, and arcane bolt will similarly miss every time if it's sitting in the back. This is with windguide too. I eventually was able to get earth magic and kill one of them with a smasher-toting thug, but none of my mages could actually kill it.
>>
>>123621367
while that might not work with n9, notice how that golem is using soul vortex for healing purposes, but you're right on most points
>>
>>123621367

>>123620230
Alright, easy solution. Look through what commanders you can recruit, pick the one with the highest defense. Ask a nation with earth access to forge you a gate cleaver, and slap that on the commander along with a ring of tamed lightning and an amulet of antimagic.
Put the commander in the rear where you think the golem will attack, set him to hold->attack closest.
Golem should never hit your counterthug because his attack skill is ass, and your ring will negate his storm spool. Gate cleaver should kill him in a few turns, even quicker if you're feeling a little timid and decide to slap some boots of quickness on your counterthug.

Have you tried telling your mages to hold fire and your troops to hang back?

Once it hits turn 5 it should start moving closer, hopefully close enough for more regular hits. Off-script S2 mages don't have a lot to cast at a golem apart from arcane bolt, so you shouldn't need to worry about the lack of scripting.

If you want another anecdotal viewpoint, arcane bolts murdered my N9 agarthan thug when he ran into them and he was using a similar script to the golem you're talking about (hold at back 5 turns, attack)

Hinnom is still pretty good on Goon.

>>
>>123629451
That's pretty false. Ashdod and Jotunheim are still very popular and considered good there.
>>
>>123628932
Fomoria and jotunheim are still fantastic, I'll grant you, but Hinnom and Ashdod suffered all places but SA. Moreover, whereas Fomoria and Jotunheim got new toys in the move to Dom4, Niefelheim has gone from being considered one of the strongest EA nations to being considered midtier- just look at the Nief guide/thread on desura if you want proof.

Back to Ashdod/Hinnom: SA has such a strange meta compared to everywhere else that I frankly distrust it even without the allegations of cheating against one of the most common players there. This has been borne out based on my own discussions with people who play there regularly, in #dom4goons and elsewhere.

(and it is undeniable that dom4 recruitment changes hit Ashdod and Hinnom worse than almost any other nation; they were HEAVILY dependent on their cap-only STRs, and Ashdod was additionally whacked by the nerf to Zanzummites.

Also, worth noting that while some giant nations got cheaper N9 chassis, Hinnom/Ashdod were not among those.

In MA there are a bare handful of nations that don't have either Earth or Astral (other giant counter) magic. None of these nations are pleasant to rush. Even regenerating anakites aren't that hard to kill with some preperation - they get only 18 protection at 91 resources, or 15 at 48. Anakites have an MR of 15 at 115 gold, At MR 15, a normal spell with normal pen hits 1/5 of the time. It's not common knowledge, but paralyze is particularly hard to resist. However, even if it wasn't, your average mage will paralyze an anakite at the same base cost extremely reliably. That's not good for your meganerds.

It's Paralysis Damage/Size.
So Paralyze could work effectively against Anakites, so even they would be paralyzed for 12 turns but it requires readily available S2s.
So Sceleria, Tien, C'tis, Marignon, and Vanarus would still have trouble against Anakites but not Bandar or Pythium necessarily.

The problem here is that you can recruit 3-4 anakites per turn pretty quickly (N9E4 ashold has a really good expansion) but only one mage per turn is available.

Are Wraith lords good thugs? Even without gear they seem really good. Also death 3 gives them invulnerability (and soul vortex too). They seem pretty good to me for 40 gems. Should I equip them something else? vine shield + brand? flying boots?
>>
>>123633845
They're good for precisely the reasons you noted and also immortality when fighting in your dominion. Soul vortex in particular is great, whereas invuln is less valuable since most things that can kill an equipped wraith lord will be using magic of some sort (either an item or actual spells)
>>
>>123633580
sceleria can usually handle Anakites just fine though, anathema w/ longdead and soulless spam, or horde of skeletons at later levels.
>>
>>123633845
>good thugs
>for 40 gems
Here's your answer.
They are useful but a bit expensive.

If you have a trully massive death income then flooding the world with immortal d3s is nice. But liches largely cover that anyway and cheaper.
>>
>>123633845
With Soul Vortex/Skeletal Body/Invulnerability they can beat an unlimited amount of regular troops naked and even in the off-chance they die, they are immortal.

I don't think they have what it takes to cost-effectively make custom counters against proper armies, but if you need heavy thugs for raiding or counter-raiding within your own dominion, they are pretty much ideal due to good default equipment and immortality.
>>

None of them are mindless (innate trait, like golems). Just brain damaged (feebleminded affliction) pretty often (around 70% i'd say).

And like 1 out of 6 is a commander.
>>
>>123634932
They are never mindless, but frequently feebleminded.
>>
>>123634932
1/5 are commanders. Only 1/3rd are not feeble minded.
>Do a lot of them come out mindless
They're not mindless
>>
>>123634573
At worst they're huge chunks of HP, not necessarily a bad deal for 10 gems.

If you have Gift of Health (required to cure possible Feeblemindedness) and access to Gift of Reason/Divine Name, you get 4-7 path randoms (completely diversity in the long run, potential for really big monopath mages, even in the worst-case scenario 4 paths is a big mage), E4s or E3A2s, all on an extremely durable chassis. The average price comes to something like 20-25 gems (as some already start with commander status and won't need GoR) and for that it's a superb bargain. But it takes time to set up (both in terms of reaching all the research targets and waiting for tartarians to be cured of their afflictions) and not everyone has big N and D simultaneously.
>>
>>123635134
Does Divine Name work?
>>
>>123635329
I think it does. I haven't tried.

>The caster can also inscribe the name on the forehead of a willing target, increasing his mental faculties and making him a commander.
>>
>>123635134
>and not everyone has big N and D simultaneously.
Pretty much why i run GOH-less factories. It's really hard to secure GoH and have high level D casters/D income at the same time. Nations like C'tis and sauro can do it with some effort (and unless pangaea is fucking them) but for others it requires jumping through some pretender hoops and luck.
>>123635329
Yes
>>
>>123635426
>>123635419
It seems like using high S to get there would be easier, since you can use rings to get more factories.
>>
>>123635426
The problem is that Gift of Health nearly always tends to get claimed by a nature nation early on.
>>
>>123635062
testing made me realize they weren't mindless. I thought feeble minded was the same as mindless.

I can see now how powerful it is, since 10 death gems for a 100+ hp chaff is good enough.
Also chalice and healers don't heal afflictions on undead anymore, right? Is gift of health the only way to heal them?

And one more question:
the mod inspector doesn't tell the chance on your units being healed of afflictions with Gift of health, is it high? I found that I need around 5 turns to heal one affiction or something like that.
>>
>>123635953
>Is gift of health the only way to heal them?
Blood Feast for non-feebleminded ones with blood random
>>
>>123636082
I once got FOUR blood tartarians as Ermor when all my land was already dead.

That was a good time.
>>
>>123635953
>since 10 death gems for a 100+ hp chaff is good enough.
Eh, it's passable. It's more of a "using leftovers" case, than being actually good. They have low mr and for 10 gems you could get a behemoth or leviathan.

Getting cloud trapezing RoS casters or high path mages is what outweights the gems you lose on retards.
>Is gift of health the only way to heal them?

Yep.
>>
>>123636082
damn i have just tried to empower on blod a feebleminded unit, but then realized the "magic skill 0" affects the empowerments too. It would be really could if i could empower them to save them from feeblemindedness.

I'm a nation with no national astral magic, but got some mages (S1D1 but have 2 boosters) and a good amount of astral pearls.

How can i use my pearls? i'm forging starshine caps right now, but don't really know. Should I empower to S2 so I can summon an Ether lord, equip him and get S5, dimensional rod, both rings, so I can get deep astral?
Or is it better empowering my S1D1 2 times and don't summon the ether lord?

damn mages are rare even with a library, I just added +1 libraries for recruiting purposes but it's quite easy to go 50 turns without seeing even one
>>
>>123638303
If you only want a single S3 mage I'd go with empowerment.

If you think you'll want multiple, use ether gate. It's only 15 gems more per S3 mage (plus 30 gems startup cost), and for those gems you get a bunch of elite troops and a tanky S3 chassis, with a chance at S4.

Generally I'd say that you know things are bad when Ether Gate is an efficient spell, but it sounds like you might be at the rare case where it's actually the right spell to boost yourself up. The fact that you'll end up with some armored ethereal warriors is a nice plus, since they're actually pretty great units if it weren't for the price tag.

What would you call a GOOD map, then?
>>
>>123642104
Depending on your nation, the infantry forest will probably be doable with your starting army. Poke the throne with a scout to see if it has mages (since not all of them do) and then either take that or the horse tribe wasteland with your first army. If you're one of the nations that can build an expansion party every turn, you probably want to rush the farm to your NW. Just add a few lance-soaks to your army for the heavy cavalry there, since it looks like a small group.
>>
>>123642458
Latus.

But seriously, that map has a start near two swamps and 2 UW provinces and nothing else. When I played it, a throne spawned in one of the swamps and heavy cav in the other one. Plus, it has an overabundance of clustered terrain, like 3 caves or 3 swamps in a row.
>>
>>123642581
But Latus has exactly that and much more.

that does not look bad and you should be happy to have so many connections and different terrain types against your cap.
you should rush farm and island chokepoint.
also note that the small lake can be pretty valuable and yet difficult to take for other nations ( you might be the closest one actually) so if you can get it you'll be in a good shape.

Maybe have there be a pixel or two down at each side, as the edges of even flatish bottomed mushrooms are below the centre.

>>

How do I items? When do I items? Is there a point in making some low grade items for commanders that won't even fight because I don't want to lose them?

Therefore is there a point in making items without some special abilities that manifest passively on strategy or tactical view?
>>
>>123651578
Yes. Because wasteland hell
Mountain hell.
Forest hell.
And they're all right next to each other.
>>
>>123651765
Generally the only items you want to make in large quantities are research or magic boosters. Most of the low level items are pretty poor and a waste of gems to put on anyone. The exceptions come about when you need to thug something (usually brand + vine shield and possibly some other miscellaneous items), or counter thug something else, in which case some of the less commonly used items can have a niche usage.

Who is the most useless "faction" in CoE4? The EL priest seems to die everytime to Deers.
>>
>>123706018
Voice of El is really powerful actually. Early game he's just normal humans with nothing really special (though he can charm other humans so that's sweet), but mid- and lategame he gets free paladins, angels, celestial lions, and tons of flagellants. Plus he can upgrade his bless so even average units become strong.

If you want suffering, try Burgmeister or Illusionist.
>>

>>123706303
Also lategame Voice of El literally starts the apocalypse which means you can just sit back and watch the enemy get rekt by shit spawning everywhere.

Illusionist has some really strong shit against the right opponents (indies). The problem is he is hard countered by anything that can do aoe magical damage and has decent MR.

I'm in a game in which there is other blood nation. He is probably summoning big guys too, but we didn't get to demon lords.
So this turn i can either summon an ice devil and an arch devil, 2 arch devils, or 2 heliophagii.
I don't know what did he summon, but i'm sure even if he summoned a lot I still have this cast before all of them are summoned.

So which one is more valuable? I think double arch devil is a good idea, but arch devil + ice devil is nice too.

Helios and archdevils are generally better than ice devils when you already have water access. For Mictlan, none of the devils are really necessary for path purposes, since you have access to Onaquis to fill out the death stuff that helios are often summoned for. I'd go for two archdevils just because I like them better, but any combination is honestly fine.

I have been trying it with an arch devil with The forbidden light equipped. He has around 40 fire resist, and he got no damage from the light.

I fought indies, and most of them got blinded while the devil raped them.
Then I gave some non-fire-resisting demons to my arch devil, and again they didn't get damage from the light. Some battles later, my non-fire demons got blinded too, and eventually the Arch devil got blinded too. But no damage done to my demons for now.

Solar Brilliance does 5 AP damage, arch devils have 12 prot. 12 prot halved is 6, enough to cancel out the 5 AP damage.

It works how it says it works in the manual.
>>
>>123729256
Isn't that 5+DRN/-DRN though? That should occasionally do damage.
>>
>>123729628
Honestly not sure, but even if it is, arch devils have an MR of 18. They would pass the MR+4 check about 49/50 times, and the check only applies 50% of the turns. Assuming the damage does have a DRN associated with it, it would only deal 1 or more damage 38% of the time. So your arch devil would effectively have a 1/263 chance to take minimal damage every turn, which would be easy to either not notice or just not occur throughout testing.
>>
>>123729628
>>123730359
If you want to test it, make a test game and give a demon with less than 10 prot a void eye, banner of the northern star, and a black mirror to lower his MR by 8. You should see him take damage after several turns.
>>

How terrible is this

Had some pretty good expansion with indies, have never been unhappy with either misf1 or mag1 paths. Figure the Reinvig is good for communions, and the w9d5 bless gets me awesome expansion. the d minor is also somewhat weirdly okay with communions, assuming i get a lizard shaman, gets me hidden earth/water spells, and breaks me into major death. w9 gets me vengeful waters, water bracelets for 1/4 W str, Imma be pushing my dom a bit since I plan on templing and eventually forting every indy priest province i can find, something that both growth/order help to afford.

Only thing Im sorta weirded about is Cold3. Should I go for Cold 2 or even 1, and use Sloth instead?

The demilich is immobile. Kokythiads are good, though. W9 is great for expansion, but less valuable once you fight players since the vestals have low HP and are vulnerable to the anti-undead stuff that people are fielding against you anyways. Also ,D5 is not enough for tartarians on the demilich due to its lack of slots. You'll need to summon liches and find another way to get that last +1 D

>>123733538
Similar to the above, the lack of slots makes S5 insufficient to break into rings, assuming that's what you're going for with S4

I have a pretty solid death income, i may as well just try to force tartarians/well of misery. And that last bit of undying helps more than you think with expansion. After expansion, I have a shitton of priest reanimating, and E4 to help out with communions.

Vestals I see as expansionary/early war forces. Once any player starts massing priests, they're pretty much toast. That's why I want E4, so I can capitalize on the strength of heavy S and D mages during combat, with cheap fodder to screen shit while Hordes of Skeletons, Nether Darts, Stellar Cascades, Apostasy for Thugs, Etc all get set up.
Plus, I guess i can get the poison golem. forwhateverthefuck that's worth.

What are the odds of an item being recovered after a battle? Seems to be about 25% so far in my limited testing with 1 commander and 1 item, but I assume it's more complex than that. Manual doesn't seem to have any info.
>>
>>123734646
It's true, thaumaturgs carry Sceleria and the E bless is solid for them. You'll often want big communions if you can leverage them, which is why I'm fond of N9, but it's definitely not an essential bless. You'll just need to be more careful about managing your spells and will need to get an indy nature mage and put a crystal matrix on them if you can't find lizard shamans.

I wouldn't go so far as to get Sloth 3, but eh. I can see how the build that you're going for is tight on points. DESU I'm not a huge fan since it looks like you're trying to do too much with it - Tartarians are great and the water bless is great for expansion and the earth minor is great for your mages, but you're essentially going to get only one tart factory with your build barring getting very lucky with a grand thaumaturg AND safely killing it with twiceborn up to get another D5 mage. Without any nature access, one tart summoner alone isn't an end game. That said, it will do everything that you've built it to do, and your reasoning behind it is sound, so my problems with it are more just personal preference and quibbles. It's not a shit build.
>>
Vanheim make your move already goddamn, we've been waiting on you for about 12 hours now
>>
>>123735150

My confidence in my build doesn't mean im not seeking input.

I dont feel like any of sceleria's unit are worth recruiting excepting the mages, which can reanimate in a massable way, so Sloth 3 doesnt seem so bad. The only way I see production scales mattering is early game, which is why W9 for vestals seems to work. As well, human troops only seem to work if there is multiple e/n access for buffs.

As for the tart factory: I sorta agree. D6 gets me skull faces, skull staves, liches, tartarians, and well of misery. The booster items, while expensive, get me an outside shot at getting tartarians, and the d6 gets me well of misery. That being said it's an expensive as fuck thing to set up. The bless gets me some more staying power on my vestals though, which can come in handy during early wars/expansion. As well, undying does benefit a communion slave thing sorta okayish, in that they may win the battle but definitely die.

I stand by E4. I don't think there is a nation in the game that wants reinvigoration 2.

>>123753210
Double negative there, I'm assuming you meant

The answer is yes. Outside heavy enemy dominion snek will tear through most province types with ease, with the obvious exceptions (skellies, mages, 100 barbs)

>>
>>123755612
Yeah Snek is seriously undercosted and overpowered.

Unless you really need certain paths other than Earth on your pretender, there's never really a reason not to get an awake snek. You can expand into almost anything other than hard thrones and big undead provinces with just your pretender and you still get a decent bless (E6 is at least somewhat useful for almost everyone) and good scales.
>>

E6 (on its own) is not very useful outside of sacred mages, and plenty of nations don't field large numbers of sacred mages.

Seraph chassis (wish->divine name - 125S), empowered until you can wish (165S to go from S4 to S6), wish for 'combat prowess'. You can spend as many gems as you want that way, for reasonableness let's say only a single cast (100S)

So we've got a total of 390S on our chassis (125 if you skip empower/wish)

Give it a bunch of artifacts. For the sake of actually making something that can SC rather than a useless pile of junk, here's the most expensive stuff that I think could possibly be viable:

Mage Bane 55E
Aegis 40E
Armor of the Dawn 15E 10S
Wraith Crown 40D
Boots of Antaeus 30E 5N
The Ark 40S 40F
Nethgul 15S 10W

That gives a total of 150E 65S 40D 5N 40F 10W on items, or 310 gems of items.

Overall it costs 700 gems, or 435 gems if you think the wish/empower part is bullshit.

Is there any reason you wanted this?
>>
>>123757365
Real highrollers wish for godvessels. It has a chance to go berserk at any point, so you are adding extra cost of lost population, wishes used on failed chassis. And of couse you are going to get all the gear lost once it goes indie after few turns.
>>
>>123757365
If you really wanted to go overboard you could wish until you get all paths to 10, but you can also wish for physical power how many times you want.

I tried building a retarded Azazel in single player and it was really fun. It kinda breaks when you reach 200+ hp.

If you care, it was still beatable. Very hard to do so, but beatable.

>They're great for SC duty
Not really. Putting aside generally mediocre SC paths they get, they are only marginally better statwise than ba'als at the cost of inferior magic.
Melquarts get 3 more hp, 3str and one point of attack. It doesn't make them significantly better for SC duty. They also get armor out of the box but not even the one good enough for sc duty to begin with

Now, what do they lose?
F3 Ba'al can be your suicidal phoenix pyred firestorm caster with a single fire booster. F2 Melquarts? Nope.
S3 Ba'al can teleport without S hat. Outside of SC duty they mindhunt easily and horrorspam.
E3 are your living earth, earth attack and weapons of sharpness casters. They forge hammers without boosters too. A bit too valuable to actually risk them as SCs in general.

Melaquart's only out of combat upside is that E2s can forge bloodstones without boosters.

Basically, Ba'als are same shit as SCs and much more outside of combat, at a small downside of needing 6 (10 without hammers, but hammers are given for SC production with STR cap onlines) gems worth of extra equipment. They are actually cheaper gem-wise if you need to make them teleport.

Also, Kohens actually do quite a lot of hinnom's thugging and army support.

IT'S SUNDAY SO YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE THE EXCUSE OF BEING A NORMIE WITH A JOB
>>
>>123767157
It's still church time in much of/most-of the USA
>>
>>123767282
This game must be Christians' guilty pleasure or something.
>>
>>123767282
>church
>playing dominions
this is deliciously ironic.
>>
>>123767282
Playing Dominions is a sin, Christians get out.
>>
>>123767282
>being religious

acceptable only when playing Dominions 4.
>>
Why is there no pretender based on Jesus Christ anyway?
>>
>>123768164
Why is there no mudslime nation?
>>
>>123761348
That's retarded, but I like the new function server hosting has where if someone stales 3 times it ignores them for purposes of auto host.
>>
>>123768235
Illwinter doesn't want to get Allahu Akbar'd.
>>
>>123767347
It's OK I only play EA Ermor and name my prophet Jesus and my Titan of Storms God.
brb church
>>
I can't beat AI on default difficulty. Send help.
>>
Stalewarriors 50 is out!
>>
>>123768714
you can make a pretender out of the Arabic calligraphy for "Allah" though, which is weird
>>
>>123768997
>he says someone turn resent him 79 times
I resent him once, did you guys do that too?
>>
Anybody up for a MP CoE4 game?
>>
>>123769101
Yes, all seventy six of us resent him the turn once.
>>
Goats, how did Mictlan end up taking that province between us? Did you forget PD?
>>
>>123771345
Treachery from Pan, after last turn he declared Mitclan had a great victory over you?

Not a surprise.
>>
>>123771345
Province? I haven't loaded my turn yet senpai
>>
>>123750062

>>
>>123771943
Just gotta attack outside of your dominion. Always.
>>
>>123772712
I kept forgetting about it. I'll go reclaim in a bit then.
>>
>>123750205

Got a Lepers Fen, two Inkpot Ends, and three (!) Well of Pestilences, as well as someone spamming Leprosy everywhere. no joke.
>>
Agartha, you can grab 120 on your way to 153. No pd.

I can also clear out provinces around your fort in 81, i've got a thug standing by near it and it doesn't have much to do but farm kills.
>>
>>123773949
I'm not spamming it, so it must be another death nation.

Also, we need to do something about Astral Cancer.
>>
Can noobs play with you?
>>
>>123776034
Most games are full of really bad players..
>>
Does spell targeting include priorities for valuable units, such as units that have magic paths or ones that are in possession of magic items? Will life for a life, for instance, generally target mages and thugs, or will it just target the unit with the highest health?
>>
>>123776190
Bad player here; can confirm
>>
>>123776190
Can confirm, I'm a complete Noob who's in 4 different games.
>>
>>123777615
Highest health + closest.
In fact, being close often overwrites every other factor. Mages seem to have a panic mode when things get 10-15 squares near them.
>>
>>123777615
>>123777968
It should also factor in (god knows how) MR.
>>
>>123778042
It factors resists if the spell actually checks for them. Life for life is nontype spell with no MR check and no damage type (other than being magic), so it shouldn't matter. Hopefully at least.
>>
>>123778042
Probably does a rough calculation for average damage based on factors like unit density (if the spell is AOE), success rate based on unit MR, and protection values.

On a similar note, how is it that people do things like charming the titans you can find on thrones or the event necromancers if targeting is mostly based on proximity? Do you try to use spells that would only wipe out chaff and retreat until you end up with pretty much just the commander you want?

>>123777946

Bats I can send them any time you're ready, just let me know.

It's hardly surprising that a Homestuck-inspired game has a Homestuck-tier fanbase.

All right, that's enough. Your meming about gay and furry shit is tolerable in the text form, but this is borderline avatarfagging now.

I suggest you to stop doing this.

Alrighty then.

But keep in mind that while being an obnoxious faggot is allowed and often encouraged, avatarfagging gets you a permaban.

http://www.desura.com/games/dominions-3-the-awakening/forum/thread/calahans-complete-list-of-mercenaries-mercs-mercenarys

some mercs are even mages that can break you into new paths or sitesearch. some have good units.

and some are utterly worthless garbage.
