EarthBound has its fair share of problems, but it's writing and music are both great. It's biggest problems are its structure and pacing, being a bit too 'old school' dragon quest in making you have to put a lot of effort into finding where to go. And the story itself is fairly boring, even if the journey you go on it goes through some great places.

Mother 3 fixes basically all those issues thankfully. This game is much more comparable to that than EarthBound.

Undertale as an experience is fan-fucking-tastic but as a game, speaking objectively it's pretty bad.

The puzzles are easy and there's no actual penalty for losing them (re: hotland), the sprites are fun but pretty badly drawn, it's short and the only real challenge is the sans fight which is grindy as shit to get to.

Now I'm sure that Toby intended for it to be an emotional experience through the story and music, which he did a 12/10 job at. But speaking directly and excluding the easter eggs, Undertale's mechanics are a sub-par bullet hell.

There is nothing weird about encouraging your children to enter confidence building competitions in order to receive scholarships.

Barrier possibilities:

I have had that same issue with some other gifs on tumblr, and some can't even load the first frame right. There probably is a larger version, but unless it's posted on a website that actually fucking works, I don't think you'll find it.
