They didn't always play Pendulum Sorcerer at first. It might have ended up the wrong way to play the deck but it was still a valid way that did successfully top tournaments, so the deck will almost definitely still be intact when it shows in TCG even if we don't get Sorcerer.

Lightning is really not that big of a deal. He's good at what he does but he's an answer and only that. He isn't what's making Rank 4 good. He's answer to floaters and large monsters. We have other individual Xyz that answer those things, and they aren't as good as Utopia the Lightning since they can only answer one of the two things (though Dweller still has advantages since he stops things from floating in other ways than destroying them by battle, but Diamond King Crab and Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon pretty much have been totally outclassed by the Lightning). He isn't a card doing something Rank 4 can't do anyway and can't function without, that's more like Ptolaemaeus > Nova > Infinity or even Rafflesia more than the Lightning. He's just super efficient at answering what he needs to.

It's for sure no doubt a card to carry R4 by itself. But its inclusion does wonders.

If The Lightning was all there was I wouldn't bet much on R4s. If Ptol -> Infinity was all there was I wouldn't bet much on R4. And Raffle wouldn't be enough for me to bet on it either.
But all together? That's a lot better. But I really do think it will fall short without Infinity. That's my impression from having played TCG/OCG.

Actually it's even better, it's a Level 4 on board and both Scales set technically if you use the last search to set the second scale, so my mistake. Card is really good. It makes Performapals its own engine, in my opinion even moreso than just Joker + Sorcerer was. I still don't quite get how they worked with each other to the point that it was so strong even before to be honest. I mean it was clearly good I just never exactly understood how it worked since you kind of have to jump through hoops to get Sorcerer to work and Joker doesn't really help set up the hoop.

I just kind of wish Guiturtle drew a card when yo uactivated him while you icontrolled another Performapal pendulum rather than drawing a card when you activate one once per turn. The latter is technically better in the sense that you get more draws but holy shit imagine Dokurobat Joker > Monkeyboard > Guiturtle. You can't contain card advantage of this magnitude off 1 card.

The reason pendulum floaters are good is because they can be pendulum summoned back. Monkeyboard sets your scales at card advantage. It's kind of like a Pendulum Call that's a +1 instead of card parity. Now you can argue that without Sorcerer the critical mass for a deck abusing the destruction triggers of pendulum monsters isn't there but I don't think that's the case either, since we're still seeing that deck in TCG already and Monkeyboard is one of the most efficient ways to set scales. I'd argue one of the Performapendulum's only weaknesses prior to him was that they couldn't recover so well if they were actually caught with their pants down and put all their eggs in one board state and got blown out. Now they have a card they can search or draw that by itself throws that out the window, and is good even outside of the doomsday scenario, and that's pretty powerful

I still can't quite figure out what Deskbots do and I want to really like them since I love their art, but looking at the lists for the deck I've seen in OCG I guess don't get it really. The latest one I've seen played a lot of higher level synchros with the tuners being Veiler and 001. Do you really synchro that much? How do you do it that often? The only Xyz were Nova and Infinity obviously. I don't understand the ratios for the Pendulums either.

I want to build this deck but I really have no clue what it does and how it does it just looking at the cards. The lower level deskbots are an engine, but I have no idea what the engine is supposed to enable.

Three of everything. Wavering. Pop 5 and 6 all the time. ignister pop 5 ss 2 search 5. 5 is your best scale, use it as often as you can. 7 and 8 are good late game when your grave is full. 7 has trample and makes ignister with 1. 8 double attacks monsters. You can relatively easily do XYZ with them, and 4, 5, and 6 recur from grave. 4 can also run over almost anything in battle on its own, and recurs shit when it does.
Machine dupe on 2 is basically gg on its own. 3 recruits any of them from deck.
1 gains 500 atk for each machine type you have, and recurs itself from grave when you p-summon 2 machines. It is the absolute fucking ideal tuner for pendulums. They're also all earth so you can plonk down the naturia synchros.

There's no easy first turn shit, which is the major problem. They don't have a strong early game at all. Your best hope early on is to either 3>1 and sit on arc light or get 4 on field and hide behind it being difficult to run over, and also hope your opponent is retarded enough to try to attack it. I dunno man. I want to like this deck and it does have random tops in OCG so I feel like I could play it not feel bad but I just don't "see" anything. At least when Nekroz used Deskbots the engine they were going for and what they intended to do with it was obvious but man. It's not even like there's enough tops from one version of the deck to even put together a list from what I can gather since the tops are so sparse and far apart. The latest top only played 2 of each Pendulum besides 5 which desu does make sense since 5 is definitely the best, and 7 makes Ignister, so I Can see him too. I don't really get why you'd play 8 especially without Xyz (the deck didn't play any besides Nova and Infinity), so I guess the issue is more I dont' see why you'd play any of them besides them unless it was to make Xyz off Machine Dupe but the deck didn't play all 3 copies, and it played all the pendulums but not all 3 of each but still played 2 Wavering.

003 by itself equals Arc Light.

003 + Risebell equals Naturia Beast or any other level 5 Synchro.

003 + Machine Duplication equals Infinity.

003 + Machine Duplication with one or more 001 in your graveyard equals just about any Synchro you want.

003 + Double Summon gives you Trishula, or Barkion, or any other level 6, 7, or 9 Synchro.

004 + any other Deskbot equals Naturia Beast just about any other Synchro in MP2 if you successfully use its effect during the damage step.

004 doing the above + Risebell equals an option for either Infinity or Synchro, Trishula included.

Pendulum with 001 in the graveyard usually lets you do good extra deck plays.


There is more stuff you can do but that's some of it. Not to mention that Deskbots are fearsome beatsticks even without the extra deck.

Risebell is even searchable. And the low scale is compatible with regular Deskbot pendulum plays.
And Double Summon is a very potent card in Deskbots. Especially since 003 isn't OPT.

Double attackers aren't good by themselves, especially when they can only be done on monsters, and being a beater is not very good either. In fact I can't think of any double attacker that could only attack monsters that was ever good, and even fewer that were high level monsters in the maindeck and not just things you could toolbox from the extra.

One thing I've always thought is that I kind of feel like Geargiauger into accelerator was a pretty good generic machine engine. It costs some momentum but it does search out your important cards. But I've never seen a Deskbot list play them despite how important 2, 3, and 4 are so I guess I'm the only one who thinks it's a good idea.

I honestly don't know how it came to be that we care enough about momentum to not play stuff like Auger or Duality but we don't go first because we don't have an extra card over the opponent. This is one of those things I don't get. You lose momentum going first because you let the opponent do their own thing before you and now you have to focus on playing around what they did or have. I know there's fewer upsides to going first than in Magic (where it gets you the extra land drop) but technically the extra upside you got in Magic is something we don't need in Yugioh since we can just play our cards anyway and the point of getting the land drop first was being able to play your good cards first. I kind of thought the novelty of their being an upside to going second besides just being able to attack at all would have worn off by now

I'm sure you're talking in general but deskbot's have fragile fields that are easily rid of and settable backrow doesn't help you OTK. Deskbots going first don't really have a stun play that forces your opponent to play around besides Arc light so going first is just really undesirable because your opponent WILL clear your field and you'll have lost the majority of your momentum, the best you can do is prepare for the next turn by making Arc light OR setting up for next turn which you might live long enough to see but that's for OTK or die decks.

Also I'm of the opinion that any play that makes your opponent have to answer it is better than one that just lets your opponent do whatever (like the Castel versus King of the Feral Imps example), and going first means your opponent can just do whatever all the time. I think the IDEA of what Shiranui want to do is unique (banish matters and synchros from grave) but the banish matters doesn't matter all that much except again for their super Fire Lake which works in and of itself its not like it combos or is something you build around or anything and the Spectralsword's gravetuning is so slow that it barely even matters it seems like so it just ends up being generic zombie deck with Level 4 and grave synergies featuring bishies.

Psyframes (and Super Quantums now) were 1-set because of being debut in a special booster. Yosenju got more cards but the new cards were teased by the ones in Tribe Force, and we got no teases for more Psyframe or Super Quantum cards. Im trying to remember an equivalent for DOCS or CORE but I can't remember. Who knows if they'll get more. I'd say that they have one that destroys face-usp but not face-down is indication that they will though.

I couldn't tell you how to build that deck so. I can't think of why you would. The main synergy is the Zombie support you'd use with being combined with each other and the Level 0 support which I think only really matters with Masked Chameleon who as far as I know doesn't really care about Vampires.

The 0 DEF synergy is the biggest thing I see, the field would make summoning your Vampires much easier, and the L8 can be brought out with Uni-Zombie + Vampire or Uni-Zombie bumped 1 + Goblin/Shiranui. And you can use Uni to bump the Shiranuis to 5 for Bram. And Vampires dump themselves to have via Takeover/Kingdom to banish for the Shiranuis. Imagine a 5k Ikusagami.

Is there literally any decent deck besides Kozmo right now? Any other potentially good decks (Majespecters, PePe, Pend. Magicians) aren't complete yet and no other current deck seems to compete.

Which people have done but that doesn't make it not stupid. And calling it a circus deck makes it even vaguer on what it actually is. In theory, it would focus on using Geartown (plus cards that destroy Geartown) and Toon Kingdom with archetype support cards to bring Toon Ancient Gear Golems out quickly or reviving them from the Graveyard during the opponent's turn (as they don't have Special Summoning restrictions) so they can make the most of their Spell/Trap-proof direct attacks.
