Dominions is a fantasy turn-based strategy game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher.

The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 2800 units, 800 spells and 300 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously, with players planning battles rather than directly controlling them.

It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.

Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a strategy game.

It happens because the pirate version stores the CD-key file in your %appdata%, but Steam stores it in the game folder. When you restart it it deletes the %appdata% version and restores your key in the game folder. Weird, I know.

the spread jump around randomly and always happen( unless against enemy dominion, in this case it has to " fight" it).
feel free to build 10 temples next to each other in the most well protected zone of your reign, but remember that if you need your dominion in a certain zone putting temples near it is better.
>>
>>123402479
Okay, I just want loadsa candles, so jumping randomly is fine. I'm also putting it in places where I need more.

>>
>>123403784
I actually rather liked the Priest King I got this time, but I never got enough blood income to get any of the good shit.

Jaguars and Ozelotls are nice against indies, but you can't get enough of them to make a decent army.

>>
>>123404137
Yeah but that means first getting 480 sacrifices to level up my king and then whatever ungodly amount I need to actually summon those guys.

>at level 3 he can send armies he doesn't like to Hades, which is inescapable, filled with huge monsters, and passively kills all living units over time

On the other side you have nations like Hoburg:

Unlike TC, you have better things to do with your low tier mages than spam ancestors, so the death bless is much less valuable. It also doesn't help your cavalry much at all. Sauro also really gets a lot out of scales in general, since more gold = more forts = more spamming mages.

>>123426817
True but an enarie, or witch king, in a large enough communion can spam an insane number of them,
>>
>>123427207
That's pretty much with what I started with, but I think I had D3 originally and tried to buy an extra scale. Why D5 specifically, if you don't mind explaining?
>>
>>123427739
Because D5 is a break point for high death. With two boosters you get D7 and D7 gives you tarts if you want
You can also get well of misery up easier without going deeper into conjuration for skullface, just needs a skullstaf.
.
You set it to D4 and you've basically got same shit as your witch kings already have.
You go higher than D5 and you aren't getting much out of it, just slightly stronger overcasts at the cost of scales and a wight factory at conj9.
>>
I hacked the starting gold in coe4 cause it was pretty stupid starting with 20.

Sauro can bootstrap into D5 pretty easily, though. Witch kinds have a high chance at D4 (and a small chance at D5). You can bootstrap a significant fraction of D4s into D5 with twiceborn without spending pretender points.

Our warlocks tell us they are working on a way to eat the humans but I am unsure if such a method is viable as they have very little iron in them and almost no gold. Many abysians live on a diet of rocks and lead now, and it is a sad sight.

Happily the lands we conquer contain many upright things with coloured fronds on top and we can harvest them and then burn them to make the heat to warm up our meals of rocks and lead and iron. Which helps with the digestion.

Made another small hack for COE4 pirate 4.0:

+100 starting gold
Battle speed defaults to x3 instead of x1 (why the fuck this isn't an ordinary option in the game I don't know, I mash x3 on every battle and it's probably still a bit slow in larger battles)

How do Priest King blessings work? I've used Greater Ceremony of Lord of War (T2 ritual) on Priest King several times and it gave me various bless effects on three separate times, all of them were +2 health. I later tried T2 ritual on Sky Priest and got a morale bonus.

Is the blessing gained random or dependent on the mage that casts it?

It depends on what you're facing.

If you know you're going up against Astral or Death magic, more MR is always nice. If it's elemental magic, get the appropriate resistances. Simply having lots of HP (and regeneration) will stop a lot of things as well.

Alright the 2x resource income mod for COE4.0 is done

options:
1. 100 starting gold
2. 100gp, x3 default battle speed
3. 100gp, x3, double resource income

Should work fine in mp, only host needs exe, although you'll want the exe on clients to see resource numbers correctly

Enjoy a massive clusterfuck of units instead of deer attack for the first 30 turns
Only took me 8 hours because the fucking binary tampers with itself (volski's work maybe)

A reminder that only mentaly disabled people play as memegiants.
>>
>>123461141

I don't know where the idea that Niefelheim is strong comes from (maybe they were decent in Dom3? I didn't play until Dom4 so I can't say), but in my experience they are the weakest EA nation I've played. (I haven't played EA Rl'yeh or any UW except for Therodos and Atlantis, and I can say that Niefelheim is definitely weaker than both of them)

I just don't understand why anyone would think Niefelheim is anything other than mid-to-low tier in EA.
>>
>>123461809
The thing is that blessed giants are really easy to use and really hard to counter for new players. So in noob vs noob games they can dominate easily. And once you've experienced that, either playing as them of getting wrecked by them, it's easy to come to the conclusion that they're OP.

I disagree that they're the weakest nation in EA since they can still wreck shit in the right situation, but they're definitely not one of the stronger nations when you're not playing against scrubs.
>>
>>123462009

Even as far as blessed giants go, maybe I'm wrong but I think that Fomorian giants rape Niefel giants so long as they aren't fighting in Cold 2 or 3 provinces.

Maybe I'm delusional but I think I tested it a while back.
>>
>>123461809
>I can say that Niefelheim is definitely weaker than both of them
I don't know where you are getting that. Gyjas are very potent (but not easy to utilize due to path variation), skratti are fantastic communion battery and cheap thug, jarls are amazing high level mages and passable SCs, you've got good summons with fear auras (seriously, try stacking brood of garm shit) and blood access. Nifelheim has issues but it's a midrange nation at worst.
It has issues with everything being expensive as fuck, but they are in no way weak.

>maybe they were decent in Dom3?
They've had easier time SCing and had 120 free pretender points for better economy. They were upper mid/lower high tier nation back then.
>>
>>123462227
Niefels score better in every single stat except MR and morale, in which they're equal to Fomorians. One on one, Niefels would destroy Fomorians 90% of the time.

Of course they're also twice as expensive, so for an equal amount of gold Fomorians probably perform better, especially if you're not in a cold province so the Niefels don't get boosted by Cold Aura+Ice Protection+Cold Power.
>>
>>123462771

>so for an equal amount of gold Fomorians probably perform better

Yea that's what I meant.

I also have the problem that I've never seen anyone do well with Niefelheim. I'm not even talking about winning, either. I've never seen Niefelheim being in a position to even remotely determine the winner of a PBEM, and EA is pretty much the only era I play.

Maybe I should dedicate myself to uncovering the secrets of Niefelheim and try to prove the Niefel naysayers wrong.
>>
>>123463226
I've never seen Lanka do well because all the Lanka players are apparently crippled retards or unlucky as shit.
>>
>>123463226
I don't play giant nations because I simply don't like them, but as far as I can see the only real problem with Niefelheim is that all their shit is super expensive. And that's a big problem, but depending on your neighbours it's not the end of the world. You just need to be aggressive and not sit around waiting for everyone to simply outproduce you and get mid/lategame magic to counter you.

>>123463416
Lanka is one of those nations that's really good on paper but also awkward to play, since they have several contradicting elements. They have all the ingredients they need to be super powerful, but actually using all of that efficiently is harder than it is for most nations. Also Chaos Power is shit.

>>
>>123463687
>I'd also like to point out this is the second Lanka game in a row where I've had a bad starting position then get immediately rushed by two nations at once.
Why do people keep rushing nations that do incredibly well on defence, but never fucking bats?
>>
>>123465970
because bats can be incredibly dangerous to rush, making both lose hard.

their 7 gold bats probably are the best siege defense/offense you can get with gold and they can summon some early stuff too if they need to.
all those bats are also stealthy and flying, MM 3, meaning xibalba can just decide to raid your provinces, recruiting more on forest, then regrouping them to enter a fortress and defend and then get out again.
even if they can't deal with your army or even just the capital's PD ( i tested 180 bats against yomi PD: bats lose) they can cause terrible economical damage and make you regret your aggression.
>>
>>123466574
The bats can be incredibly dangerous at any point of the game, but in a rush they are actually easily killable and weakest.
>even if they can't deal with your army or even just the capital's PD
As long as they can't take out your capital, all you have to do is to park your heavy infantry on theirs. That's it, you've won, they start to starve and you get to recover by feeding on them.

why would you ever transform with the intention of thugging since only one out of a lot will get ettin or some awecool form.

the whole point of transformation is removing the cost of upkeep. if you transform a pan you will save 26 gold every turn, eventually gaining an extra Pan after 16 months. the chance of getting a thuggable fucker is just an extra on top, you might as well use those gems to summon one if that's the only thing you want.

and if a PAN get ettin form that's just as good since it has enough paths to become a thug. you get quickness or bless but you have summon earthpower and stoneskin and regeneration and/or the earth spell that halves damage . a regeneration ring alone is worth 10 gems. overall it's just as good, then in particular it will have its better or worse sides.

now tell me what the fuck are you going to do with a shitty dog with reduced upkeep. how much upkeep is that useless bitch eating anyway? 6? 7 gold a turn?

Unfortunately, 99% of the time you will have to go on land sooner or later, and at that point EA R'lyeh just falls apart hard.

>>123524001
>gem income
>the most important stat
Gems are supplementary tool. They can give you a lot of power, but so can gold in the right hands.
You can summon a thug or 2-3 given a good gem income.
Vanheim can buy 10 sneaky thugs in one turn with his gold. Xibalba can shit out raiders.
You can summon a high level mage with gems.
Monkeys can recruit a high level mage every turn from his capital. And a summoned army of sacreds is going to be stopped by 50 S1 mages.

There are things that take value away from gold like earthquake, ROS and end all globals, but those have limited availability. You can't use ROS offensively against a horde of ethereal or mistformed mages under protection buffs. End all globals don't terminate the existing power that's already on the field. (And astral corruption harms gem value a lot on the other hand)

You really can't go "hey, this guy has lots of gems, he's definitely the strongest/biggest nation". You have to look at every thing available. And Tienchi has less things available to him than top most nations, his troops out of cap are crap, his mages out of cap are crap. He gets very little out of gold compared to everyone else. So he just has one good stat while multiple people have good stats all around.

>>123524465
>Xibalba doesn't count because blood,
Blood income doesn't show on score graphs unless they are generated by special sites. Those are all gems. In addition to whatever blood he is running.
>>
>>123527672
uh so you can dick with it now and not whenever shillfraud gets around to doing that?

>>123527623

But it's my favourite skellington nation, so I must endure.
>>
>>123527834
Seriously, though, it's annoying as balls and I don't know what's causing it. Task manager isn't even showing the game as eating up all my memory or CPU or anything, so it's not a hardware limitation. The game just slows down super hard to the point that I can't even select all unit types with double clicking.

>>
>>123537478
it's anonymous but also obvious enough. How many neighbors of your target have D5 and death gems they can't spend on something better?
>>
>>123537478
>>123537627
It's the same type of event that happens from bane venom charm ("a deadly disease is spreading in province X. Y number of people died"), so if you play it right you can do several things with it.

First, bane venom charm leaves a trail of those events each turn, so if you're clever you can emulate the movement of black servant with it, ending in enemy's capital, for example. Then he has to waste troops on patrol for the stealthy unit that isn't there.

Second, if you see a nation with misfortune scales, feel free to cast in on "random" provinces once in a while. And a single is probably not going to arouse too much suspicion.

You can also blame your neighbors with D access. Especially if they are at war with the target. Cast Black Death + Lerposy + Raven Feast on the capital and watch the fireworks.

Black Death is really obvious though, as it kills exactly half of the population. It's still an event, so you can't be traced if you cast it in the aforementioned situation.

>>
>>123538013
But yeah, mostly death gems are better spent elsewhere. If you're gonna get sieged, prepare a black servant with bane venom charm. It only has 10% infection chance per unit (Leprosy has 50%), but if the enemy sieges you he can't patrol the province and fight your black servant. Especially effective with 2000 ghosts in the fort.

If you successfully cast Doom on the enemy's doomstack, then two casts are enough to severely cripple it in a few turns.

No, it is not. yeah. tab hides researcher but i don't know how it's useful.

you can order half your commander to move into a province, press y on said province to get a list of commander " who will be there next turn". edit their scripts and units with half the lag you would get, then cancel the move order and do it for the remaining half of commanders.
you don't get to see garrisoned/justrecruited/summoned units this way however. you have to endure the lag of the full army and quickly assign them once and then split them with this method.

When should i stop crafting lightless lanterns? i'm at 2500 research but didn't research any path at level 9 (but i have two at level 8 and the others are at like 3 or 4). I'm still crafting them, but when I get to 9 at everything I will probably regret all those fire gems invested in lanterns.
>>
>>123545984
if in less than 10 turns you will reach all the 9 you need i'd say it's time to stop.

you could have turned fire gems into gold and got around 120 gold which is more than half of a research mage upkeeped for a year.

the trick is selling lanterns to the weakest player. this way you can get back a lot.
>>
>>123545984
It depends. 2500 might seem high, but that can drop very fast when you mobilize mages for war. At that point lightless lanterns are a godsend to keep your research decent.

If you're at 2500 research and still have plenty of income to keep recruiting mages, you probably don't need them at all.

While it might seem that full research is a long way away, most of those research paths probably will be less useful than having a ton of extra fire gems.

All i've got other than that is the stuff I put on the borders I have with other people. I'm not '40 provinces' or whatever, either. 25 with what I took from Aqua after he invaded me and tried to cut off and kill my ormr, and very soon to be much less.

Reeaaaallly not joking about this guy having amazing sites. He has another 2 armies this size, and his skinshifter fort is now free to produce hordes on-demand. Note specifically the goddamn legion of wights.

I am stunned with that result, I did not expect to win! I was losing provinces so quickly to you I thought I would see my one large force trashed and be going AI after telling the world to grab what was left of my land before you did. I have trashed my research and spent my mages and gems to pull even with you, and I thought I was done for.

BTW this is 75 percent of my forces, I do not have 2 other armies this size (although I wish I did) and now without gems it just is can I retake enough land to buy any more pixel dudes before you can buy another army.

As far as your omrm I thought you would clearly leave that lands you took, it was surround by 4 of my provinces and you saw my forces there to take it the turn your ormr killed a couple of expansion armies when we both arrived there. I could not "cut you off" because of the water province attached. My first "invasion" was - I thought- just retaking land that you knew would be an act of aggression for you to keep. I expected the "taken a vacant land" message. The second was frustration hoping you had moved out and a waste of the 1/2 dozen cav I sent. From that land you could do just what you did, threaten /take 6-8 provinces that I was helpless to stop. I could only assume from the way you acted when you killed my ormr that this was aggressive diplomacy and I was your target.

Why are you two bitch niggas trying to pretend like you're not the aggressor? Persuade people with the "this guy is big and has good sites" kind of crap, not "I'm so nice and kind and don't invade people" bullshit.
>>
For COE is it generally a better idea to buy iron or special resources once you get trading?
>>
>>123556043
Depends on the character.

Definitely Hands of Glory for the necromancer and sacrifices for Demonologist though. There's absolutely nothing except crossbowmen that you'd need to buy with iron. Maybe a hero with a magic item, but he costs 50g5i

I think dwarves should buy iron, as it's basically their main method of creating non-shit troops
>>
Speaking of CoE4, how exactly are you supposed to play it? I always get fucked up the ass by something during the first year, like one of my two starting commanders getting ambushed, getting rushed by any of the early summoning classes (necromancer comes to mind), or having a much stronger neighbour that simply takes all my shit and traps me in my castle
>>
>>123556620
without the 100 gold mod, you basically want to scout out what you can take and move out only when your stronghold is safe from random wandering bandits.

To address your specific thing, most of the classes are summoning classes. Necromancers in particular are good early, because they summon undead (including archers) for free from places with corpses and get really strong stuff at level 2. Stuff like priest kings take longer to develop.

The reason your neighbors are stronger if they're AI might be because the AI just has a % resource advantage. In multiplayer, it's probably because they were able to snowball off of either a fortuitous start or by being prudent about what they can take and avoiding early losses while expanding.
>>
>>123556620

I'm a new player too. It just dawned on me how fucking smart it is to send a small group to enemy territory and pick up whatever towns and fortifications they cleared out, even if it just gives you resources for a couple of turns before they take it back.

Meanwhile I have my cultist summoning the shit out of cthulufaggots in the deep sea.

I'm not the aggressor because I got attacked first, dammit. Twice.

Mostly i'm just trying to defend myself from his accusations that i'm 'big and scary' and 'will soon rule the world' when i'm losing dudes all over the place to his better troops and summons, and he's saying 'oh this huge guy is invading me quick stop him or he'll win the game'.

I'd have left him in peace if he wasn't attacking me. But now the rest of the world is believing his bullshit and the guy with better mages and units is going to be scot free while I suffer.

>>123555638

You attacked a province I took with my ormr that was connected to all my other provinces (by LAND buddy, not by sea, look at the fucking province connections), twice, and thought that was fine and dandy. No idea why.

If you didn't want to fight me why did you attack provinces I took off indies. And demand more provinces from me after my expansion party clashed with your snek in my dominion in a province near my capital.

You have way better mages than I do, and way better sites, and also apparently more gems (30+ wights, hundreds of tigers and ogres), and you're surprised you won because my tiny squads of ulmish rangers took out some 1 PD provinces.

But I will bring enough crossbows to blot out the sun and we'll see how your wights like dust to dust. You know, in like 4 or 5 turns. Because my lands are made of swamps and forests and awful.

Alright I think I realized what I dislike about COE. The best strategy is just to go hard and then say "haha I lost oh well the nature of the beast"

Smart sceleria players start every fight against Ermor with some magic duels, and use communion->banish, not Witherboners. Witherbones doesn't scale as quickly as banish, and is mostly useful for destroying semi-elite undead.

Mr. Griffin is asserting that "I have (got) a lovely bunch of coconuts," with "got" serving to provide emphasis.

Moreover, songs are a poor reference for grammatical rules, especially songs containing the line "the idol of me life." Mr. Griffin has little grammatical credibility, as that line should read "the idol of my life." If we can't trust him on me/my, we shouldn't trust him on the proper use of "got/have".

>11 provinces per player
I like my Fiery Justice swift anyway
>>
>>123587075

Gonna be a crowded map. Only ocean with any allowed starts has 10 provinces, so water nations with land potential just got a lot better
>>
>>123587536
Better than smallfish with three water nations for 10 water provinces.
>>
>>123587480

Also its one of the Peliwyr line of maps, so these provinces have like full retard income for some reason. 11 Provinces here = about 18 on any other map.

Map now Plane of Rusty Caves.

I need more AAR's to read

yeah, it makes the pace much, much better.
>>
>>123589836
I think I might prefer 1.5, but I'd like to be able to play with the multiplier desu. Not asking mod guy to do it, because that sounds difficult, it's a stab at Shillfraud for poor design.
>>
What mods do you thing CoE4 should have?
And what "nations" do you guys would like to have in it?
I think glorantha like ones could be neat.
>>
>>123573401
Of course why?
>>
>>123591687
I'm making a bunch of Touhou sprites so it shouldn't be too hard to make a bunch of different classes

Cant you litterally wreck them with five priests and a thug
>>
>>123594257
I've tried starting it manually three times and I also disabled autostart and re-enabled it again. Is something fuck with llamaservers?
>>
>>123596270
Not when it's raining nether bolts and banefire arrows, nor when there's far more skeletons than banishment.
>>
>>123596270
blessermor is quite strong

swarmermor is not. you need superzombie shock troops to be competitive.
>>
>>123596234
>>123596003
Taylor Swift pls stay I love you
>>
>>123596390
>raining evocation
>MA Ermor
If Ermor has that many dusk elders, you've got other problems.

>>123596447
There are other ways to play Ermor, but bless gets you units that are guaranteed to be relevant later on in the game whereas your generic units start to kinda just fail to do anything but die. Bless Ermor also generally can still do the stuff that other Ermors can do, plus it has a caster with level 9 in two paths, which is great.
>>
>>123587440
Reality is going to shit, son.
>>
>>123591687
Overall resources/prices rebalancing (the modded .exe is a good start), less rng for recruits (especially commanders), less samey basic troops for everybody, a logistic/movement overhaul, maybe better win conditions and a better AI.
>>
>>123596905

So basically bless Ermor is a pretender on steroid with main paths in Death and ???

also all Growth etc in negative

isent that the standard way of playing them?
>>
>>123587440
Renewable resources. Most magic gems run out, but the souls of the dead and the blood of virgins never do.
>>
>>123592071
Because I wanted to know if there were other Italians here. Sono Agartha.
>>
>>123596378
shit son, I dunno
>>
>>123596378
It's still showing as the old map for me?
>>
>>123597329
>main paths in Death and ???
W, D, N and B are good major blesses for Ermor. You're of course shooting for tribless, or at the very least 2 major + 1 minor.

>also all Growth etc in negative
Ermor can tank everything except Luck and Magic.

>isent that the standard way of playing them?
I think the "standard" way (before the meta shift) was either having an awake high D pretender to spread dominion (thus getting more freespawn) and summon Elders without needing an empower, or a full rainbow.
>>
>>123597329
Ermor's true strength is the fact that they can tank all of their scales except luck and maybe magic. This means that you have a lot of points to spend on other stuff.

D9N9B9 is popular for a few reasons - you have a great chassis for it, the blood bless single handedly changes how your opponent has to deal with your sacreds and makes many otherwise incredibly strong spells kill their casters. D9 and N9 gives your knights and HP pool that they otherwise lack, and gives all your sacreds a magic attack to pop mistform and deal a wee bit of extra damage on top of the bonus strength they get from blood. The fact that you get all of this on a chassis that can actually move and be useful is awesome.

You can go for W9D9B9 on a demilich. This is very similar to the above (also gets you 1 more dom, which you do care about as Ermor). Losing the top tier nature hurts because you'll suffer more attrition, but also because you can't make tartarians quite as well. It's a minor foible, but it's there.

D9N9W9 is the old classic thanks to a well written AAR where Ermor won with that bless. I think there was an Ermor here that won with that recently too. It gives your guys more combat power, since they have both the stats and attacks from W9 and the HP to make use of it, but the lack of B9 leaves them vulnerable to standard evo.

Rainbow or semi-rainbow Ermor is also good, though. As mentioned, the fact that you have a lot of points available means you can spend a lot on your pretender. This means that you can get an immortal RoS lich while still having deep astral for rings and so on, for example, which are really valuable for boosting your dusk elders into tart factories. With an astral build, you can pump out enough tarts to just ignore the feebleminded ones and use them as heavy infantry, provided that you can find the pearls for the boosters.

Finally, an awake combat pretender can also be good. People like rushing Ermor, and an awake fighter like a dog can help.

I reverted back to Peliwyr. Could someone set up a 1v1 game with me? I just want to see whether or not it's a problem with llamaservers
>>
>>123597316
I was going to look at increasing commander/mage spawn frequency but I have no idea how to locate the code responsible

just a note while B9 is a great way to make evocation spam more expensive, it won't single handidly stop evocation spammers, Especially against nations with high MR mages like elves

Heads up admins, llamaserver autohost seems to be broken, try forcehosting.
