There was virtually nothing important cut from the game except Mission 51, and that was never completed so it was never in the game.

It is, but it really stands out in Backup Back Down because it was the perfect opportunity to have something like that take place in a controlled mission environment. There wouldn't be any excuses about performance issues or pacing problems.

Although some of the other outposts were large in their own nature, they just felt small when compared to Central Base and OKB Zero.

I don't think it makes sense to start it in Chapter 2, since the mid-point of her arc (which is gated by episode 31) deals directly with the fallout of Chapter 1's ending. Like the rest , it's a pretty important bit to get at the right time, IMO.

Constant visits to MB is just the tip of the iceberg. When I open the idroid I always wait for two beeps of the icons before doing anything. When loading the game I wait for the press x to continue icon to flash at least 8 times before pressing it. Every visit to the ICC I must pan the camera around slowly observing everything, one time unzoomed and another zoomed. There are plenty more.

i had some AU in the backburner for some time where a bunch of characters live on like the same street so they're pretty close-knit

I've based it kinda off of my own life experiences and travels haha

Like one house is Boss, Sorrow, Fury and Fear (End lives in new hampshire and pain's somewhere in the south managing his family's honey business). Boss and Sorrow adopt Fear and Fury as their sons [i like to think fear's the youngest of the cobras while fury is the second youngest]

Another house is Volgin, Raikov, Eli and Mantis/Tretij. jesus I know this game has relatively few glitches, but it makes it such a pain to do all the mission tasks

Man I forgot how good it is, really well designed and the atmosphere is great. Even the little things, like how the marines wear ponchos to keep them dry from the rain.

If TPP had 5 or 6 missions where you were dropped in these Ground Zeroes sized maps, with the same thought and effort put in, it would've been fantastic.

Another thread made me wonder, imagine how a Liquid based MGS would be.

Well no because in theory Liquid is an even stronger/more skilled soldier than David (Physically anyway) So there would have to be that Metal Gear gameplay, but the more indepth mechanics/options would be more about things like feeding lines to people, learning intel necessary to know what the fuck you're talking about to be convincing.

It would mainly just mean there would be plenty of areas where you can literally blend in by playing a role.

So I would think of it like a much less open MGSV with a focus on the ability to cause bullshit and talk your way through situations rather than just being rambo, but as usual if you fucked up you could just go loud.

also I never really watched any trailers, just the one with Elegia, which I still enjoy. I never really played the other MGS games, either, except a bit of 3, but I loved MGSV for the most part. Undeniably falls apart at the end, and the repeat missions are almost offensive...51 looks like it would have been grand.

Well it was apparently originally meant to be an all out war between Diamond Dogs and XOF over who gets to Sahelanthropus and Eli.

Which is part of why it never made it in, it was going to be a battlefield.

I assume it was suppose to be the final conflict that Ocelot/Miller said was coming during that mission where you get containers for code talker. A battle where the XOF branch is probably finally destroyed.

I'm not sure why people keep saying 51 wasn't important anyway, when you're literally throwing the entire army at XOF for a large final confrontation and retrieving Sahelanthropus.

Kojima's argument is that the main plot was skullface. It ending so soon and in such an anticlimactic way gives the play the experience of the never ending cycle of revenge and of the phantom pain. You wanted the revenge, and you pretty much got it, but it didn't satisfy you. Having more gameplay and story after that just drives home the fact that you have to keep going on with that phantom pain.

That was Kojima's plan, but it didn't work because nobody gave a fuck about skullface. Couldn't take away our revenge if we didn't want it in the first place.

Pretty much, that was also why he decided against making Skullface a boss fight, to rob the player of that satisfaction even harder.

The thing is, Skullface is a great villain, but the reasons for your revenge aren't enough, destroying MSF was a good start but it needed to be more, especially since most players ignored Peace Walker and never bothered with it.

I liked Peace Walker just fine, I get the complaints but I don't get the passion behind those complaints, so for me I understand what was at stake, but if you never played Peace Walker, why the fuck should you care about Paz? Or Chico? Or even Venom?

MGSV's key moments rely too heavily on a game people don't know enough about because they assumed it was like Portable Ops and didn't matter or it just wasn't the kind of MGS they wanted.

Kojima should have had a way to work in characters we know better, EVA, Campbell, Gray Fox, Naomi, Sniper Wolf, you could have had Skullface do some really fucked up things to known characters to an extent where they're so traumatized they have to be made to forget or something and the revenge stuff would have been a bit stronger.

He literally runs away with the two main plot points and he gets no resolution, you are retarded if you think that episode 51 was not needed to wrap up the story just because you still got the ending twist which is in no way related to the game's storyline

I said it's still as important as chapter 1 because the main villain of chapter 2 (Liquid) is introduced right at the end of chapter 1 where he steals both sahelanthropus and the final english strain from skullface. You know, in a game which revolves around the vocal cord parasites and sahelanthropus as its main plot devices.
Mission 51 would have wrapped up both those storylines so yeah, it would have been the climax of the game. Really the only plot point that is over at the end of chapter 1 is skullface's metallic archaea/small nukes plan.
But please make a lot more points because the ones you made up until now were so convincing and related to my argument
