Because I am loving Evolved. The changed recipes and mod integration is something I have wanted for a long time. So many mods that I overlooked simply because other mods provided better options for the resources they cost.

I'm not unable to play, never said that. It just gets a frame drop every so often. I'm more just saying I am jealous of people with amazing rigs that can stream this shit with no problems.

I have a question. Possibly a stupid one, but worth a shot.

Say I have two villages some distance apart, but in less than a day's walk from each other. Would it be possible for villagers to travel from one to another?

To restate more specifically... say I want to make a railway between the two towns (I'm using Railcraft if that helps on tech issues). Is it possible to make a minecart that automatically launches when it detects something has entered into it, like a wayward villager or animal? Also how would I get them out of it when they reach their destination?

If this is a stupid idea, please disregard. It's probably useless anyway, since it'd require the chunks to all be loaded.

Although the detecting thing would be handy for my own personal transit, so I don't have to bother with the fucking button.

Like I said, I might be too far away to allow NPCs to travel, but it'd be nice for easy travel for myself. The villages both have things the other doesn't. I can maybe make the mountain village a mining/tech city, and the magical forest village an outpost for all of my wizardry shit.

Not him, but Harvestcraft is the definition of the word "bloat". Out of all those food items, chances are you're going to use maybe or two of them that fully restore your saturation and hunger (Probably wellingtons), the rest are just taking up space.

The only exception is if you also have the Spice of Life (which you do) which forces you to use more than a couple of food item but that mod is also shit since it turns Hunger into a fucking chore that needs your attention every other minute.

It's able to do things like move an entire cuboid or a connected body of blocks with only one frame block etc so you won't have to spam frames everywhere. Pistronics fits well into a vanilla/lowtech theme but has been buggy as shit in my experience.

So, normal nodes you drain with a wand/pedestal, and they recharge over time.
Energised nodes (which produce cv) emit a constant flow of vis, and don't need to recharge - but the amount they emit per tick/second is lower.
Vis and cv aren't compatible, so you can't use a recharge pedestal with energised nodes. Connection wise, you can have multiple branching outputs from a source (node/relay), but can't have multiple inputs to a device/relay. Relays require a line of sight between each other/node, and have a range of about 8?ish - they connect automatically, should see a laser when they do. You can cycle the relay color with a wand to only allow a certain primal through
Wands can be recharged in a worktable now, using the something relay type, placed above the table, and linked to a node. Staves need you to have a vis amulet equipped, and will pull from a nearby relay into its own buffer to recharge a wand/staff in hotbar (unless you're a lazy fuck that uses amber wand cores).

No there's not, they're only piling more code onto what turned people away from 1.8 to begin with. A polished turd still gets shit on your hands.

There's pressure from the Forge devs, and there's going to be pressure from FTB now that they're making a pack. There's been pressure from parts of the community from the start, and that's been worse after TC5 came out.

And I haven't seen any indication of "massive" improvements in 1.9. Knowing Mojang, they broke something for everything they fixed.

ISBRHs aren't that great, they're just more flexible than JSONs. Now that we don't have to use JSONs (and that JSONs themselves got new features), it's not a problem.

This is a renderer which took me three days to get right: https://github.com/BuildCraft/BuildCraft/blob/7.1.x/common/buildcraft/silicon/render/RenderLaserTable.java - and it still renders wrong in the hand and does not support proper ambient occlusion. In 1.8, I can have the engine do all of that for me if I just feed it a list of BakedQuads - which was not possible before RainWarrior got to it (the lighting would break unless I had used JSONs, not to mention performance hits and lots of boilerplate code).

As for massive improvements, optimizations, allowing a lot more methods in the Block class to be BlockState-dependant (less redundant world lookups), no more internal limit on potion/enchantment IDs (dynamically assigned, whether Forge will make them registries is still up in the air) and lots of little things listed in a thread FyberOptic made on the FTB forums: http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/1-9-preview.105169/

There's balanced exchange, which is somewhat a different and very configurable take on it

You can mostly do inworld transmutations, like turning dirt into, say, chisel blocks. You can config things ingame to give them values, and adjust values as you see fit to anything you want. you can out of game configure transmutation efficiency, and it has a lot of other little options too. It's basically made to be a "I want to turn shitty building blocks into good ones", and not meant to be a "well, I have no blaze rods, might as well convert cobble to it"

Imagine elemental infused fire, but it kills anything living.
Turning grass into sand or normal dirt, removing leaves, burning logs into charred logs (break into charcoal), flowers to either dead bush or a withered flower. Converts biome as well to something else, so no mobs will spawn at all.
Would cause bonus fuckups to anything botania, as a way of purging filthy hedge wizards.

Hey, /mcg/, are there any nice npc mods for either automation or just aesthetics that are fairly user friendly? I'm mostly just interested in setting waypoints and delays at each waypoint for npcs that I can give custom skins.

I've played around a bunch with Ancient Warfare, which offers pretty much all I'm looking for, but I'm looking for additional mods to play with. What does this cute maid mod I keep hearing about do in the game?

I see OpenComputers (terminal), Thaumcraft (brainstem and maybe the upper flesh blocks too), Chisel (metal border, maybe the upper flesh blocks?) Immersive Engineering (wires and wire connectors), and Et Futurum or Botania (Prismarine lanterns). I don't believe this actually serves a purpose (and if it does, the computer handles all of it).

Now you get into rituals
Make a ritual of binding, throw in a diamond sword and get yourself a bound blade, it's very strong, and mobs killed with it while under it's special version of weakness drop blood shards. you can craft a blood shard with stone to make blood blocks, which get to you the next tier.

You can play around with other rituals. there's rituals to make water and lava, rituals to make things grow fast as fuck, and other low tier ones you have access to now. you will need to be the next tier before you can make the more potent ones, since you need a dusk inscription tool to make them

Make a ritual diviner to make doing rituals really easy

It's not as bad as /mcg/ will lead you to believe, but it does need configuration, and it does cram references into any place it can

It has a lot of nice utilities, some decent aesthetic blocks, and thankfully you can configure the worldgen down and use a config option to make the worldgen flowers not fucking hideous.

Plus, if you are the more inventive/creative sort, it has good automation options that fit more inline with vanilla than modded, but if you enjoy more modded types of automation (pipes, auto-sorting) you might never see this side of botania
