You know, I think that guy was right. Mushishi is pretty underwhelming. I remember reading the manga a few years back and dropping it because it wasn't holding my interest, and the same thing happened when I gave it another shot with the anime. Thing is, I have nothing against the episodic format or the setting/situation (rather than character or plot) focused narrative style, but I still find it extremely unentertaining. It's not even bad or anything, it's just a blank. It feels like a worse Kino's Journey and I almost fell asleep watching it once.

Maybe it's because all of the conflicts in the show are completely impossible to identify with, and don't leave much to consider. Or maybe because the dialogue is so sparse. Or maybe because the characters all feel extremely passive. Because even though things happening in it, I find that I can't get invested or even really care. It's the most fucking bizarre thing.

I have no idea why it gets recommended so much when it's so nothing.

Actively avoid fights, rely on Mirrors and lucky dodging for the ones you have to. By using Elec Break, Rakunda, and mirrors, you can take off half of Izanami-no-Okami's HP in the first two turns

In a low level run Ameno Sagiri is easily the hardest fight because there's nothing you can really exploit, just pray you get lucky when he uses Bewildering Fog and powers up.
