Just about every weapon is useable, and being autistic about BiS is pointless unless you're doing cata, and maybe nightmare.
The rapier is pretty great though, the charge attack destroys stormvermin and it's normal is obscenely fast and hits more targets than the axe.

Crossbow is total shit because of reload speed and projectile travel time. Anything that isn't hitscan in this game is awful for sniping specials. Braces are ammo inefficient but have high DPS, and they're great for taking down ogres, crowds in a pinch, and even specials from further than medium range if you have targeteer.

Axe is utter shit because its range of attacks is very small, which means you're almost useless in hordes, where the primary enemy is a low-health high-damage slave rat. Hordes are probably the biggest threat in higher difficulties - no other enemy in the game is a problem for anybody that knows what they're doing, but poor positioning or a run of bad luck means a horde will end you. Specials shine during hordes. Naturally, this means your melee weapon should be geared towards taking care of trash rats very quickly.

The rapier is a very good trash-clearing weapon because its normal swings have bonus headshot damage and are angled to be perfect for aiming at heads. Its charged attacks are very fast and perfect for dealing with Stormvermin and Ogres.
Just don't use the white version, it's shit.

Well the meme or taxtic is that you down a strength potion followed by a speed porion and unload all your ammo, you can texhnically solo kill a rat ogre, just make sure you click fast and stay on target.

But honestly even an elf bow or soldier repeater with a strength potion can kill an ogre fast...once again if on target.

My witch hunter dosen't even have a green brace of piztols, I have an orange repeater pistol with auto head shits and with it and a strength and speed potion I've killed Rat Ogres with about 24 shots which is four reloads, but the speed potion makes reload near instant.

Also if you down a strength potion and another player has the share potion ability trinket and downs a speed potion, then the only person to blame for not killing a rat ogre with a brace of pistols or repeater handgun is you for not controlling your aim.

repeating handgun is another good choice, but you sacrifice the opportunity to use the handgun, which is an excellent specials-sniper

I've been trying to get the hang of WH. I like the rapier but I can't get behind the pistols. How do you get good with them?

I am great with all other classes.

Dwarf with hammer and shield and drakefire.
Soldier with sword and shield and handgun.
Elf with longbow and sword and dagger.
Mage with beam and sword.

Everything is orange with nice perks save for the WH stuff which is acceptable at best.

Someone was telling a greentext story and mixed up bombs and potions.
Someone drew some an mspaint comic of it.

So why do people hate hagbane? After shunning it for weeks, I decided to mess around with it today, and found that it absolutely wrecks specials. I used to be scared of stormvermin, but now I kind of hope to see them so I can kill them all fast and stuff.

When I use longbow, I find it hard to get proper headshots with it, especially while trying to fight off a swarm of little guys. With the hagbane I just point and click a few times, and the poison takes care of the rest.

I know its aoe can be annoying with friendly fire, but as long as you aren't super careless about where you shoot, it's really not that big of a deal.

the real jump in difficulty is in cata because you'll have a million rats non stop pocking your pack with their dicks and specials spawns are sometimes insane

granted sometimes you get 2 packmaster 2 assasins 1 ogre. Sometimes you get 1 ogre and a horde, sometimes just an ogre.

It gets hard when a horde spawns during an ogre attack. The thing to do is to take it upon yourself to deal with the horde. Every pubbie orgasms at the thought of unloading damage onto a big fat rat so the thought of clearing the clan/slave rats never crosses their minds.
You have to do it.
Always position yourself such that the horde is between you and the ogre. This is so you can see if/when the ogre decides to come after you, so you can dodge/block appropriately. And the ogre will help kill some of the rats in the process.

Bretonian Yeoman: Default broad sword and shield as primary melee, ranged is a bag of 12 Javelins. Javelins allow you to use shield and allow you to block and bash before throwing them. Javelins do a ton of damage, armor piercing, and can penetrate two regular skaven, but has a tricky arc to master for throwing a distance and is mostly a short to medium range throwing weapon.

Other weapons is a bill hook and sling shot. Longbow and spear.

Ever play Arcanum and visit that one kingdom in the south? Basically Black Isle was inspired by Bretonnia for them.

Bretonnian knights are bad asses with fantastic steel armor and swirds, but if you are not a knight then your a peasant which makes up most of their population, unexucated, unwashed, inbred and starving peasants.

There is a small middle class, Yeoman, who are technically freemen who make up the merchants, craftsmen and wine makers; where as peasants are basically slaves to their landlords.

However Bretonnian craftsmen are not as skilled or trained as Empire masons and carpentors, so their castles look like rundown shit, and while, bretonnians nobility do spend money on the best swords and armor they can buy, just about everbody from Empire humans to Dwarf and Elf weapon makers make better quality goods.

Also Bretonnia's shunning of black powder means the empire shoots them down with guns.

Kislev's always been an independent state, where they throw around ice magic and ride bears and are constantly screwed over by Chaos invasions.

The Moot, the Halfling's province, is part of the Empire, and it borders Sylvania, the Vampire Counts' province. The Moot used to be part of Stirland, but a decision was made to separate it out and make that section the Halflings', a decision which the Stirlanders still object to. But it does mean the Halfling milita is constantly dealing with zombies wandering over the border of Sylvania.

Because Nightmare isn't that much harder than Hard. The only difficulty where bringing in the most optimal of gear is absolutely necessary for a sucsessful run is Cataclysm. Everything else, with the right traits, will be just as effective, for instance damage taken doesn't matter all that much when that one handed mace with 10% chance of healing on hit is making it so you don't ever have to use healing items ever because every horde is a free health kit anyway.

When you get exotics of the weapons you're the most familiar with the mobs start going down fast again. Getting hit still hurts but they don't pile up against you as easily as before.
At this point I wouldn't mind a challenge mode where all clanrats are replaced with stormvermin. I like them because blocking really matters when fighting them.

Once you get the flow of the game down it'll be easier. If you're playing on hard, try to notice how much the rats are hitting you during hordes or small groups of clanrats. See if you're getting hit because you're mistiming doges/blocks/hits or your spacing on them or see if its because some bumfuck teammate isn't watching your back like he should because he wants in on the kill count and decided he wants to compete with you or another teammate on most rats killed in the front, thus leaving your back wide open.

If you notice you're barely getting hit or the times where you are its not really your fault(yes, getting hit through lag is also your fault if you're in a remote country in the world, you have to learn to adapt to it like I did), then I'd say its time for Nightmare, once you never ever get hit EVER then you can try Cataclysm.

That's really the biggest benefit of it. It seems to have near unlimited target limit when it comes to pushing rats away, on top of that its a very fast charged strike that does not get easily interrupted by being hit like the hammer.

it charges faster (at least with axe/shield dwarf and sword/shield human) and has far more stamina for situations where you actually need to block

if you absolutely need to knock back a huge ton of rats fast you can push, with shield's faster charge attack you can even push->minimum charge attack (other rats) about as fast as a 2h hammer can plainly charge

basically the only real advantage 2h hammers have is superior damage output - you'll actively contribute to killing hordes while you charge attack them and you can take down specials (notably rat ogres) quickly with normal attacks

if you have any faith in your teammates to actually kill rats while you CC them with charge attacks I feel like shield is nearly strictly better

Honestly with a mace and shield I just do 2 leftclicks and a shove instead of charge attacks, but it probably helps I have stamina regain on hit. I pretty much never run out of stamina with that method and CC just as well with more damage.

Can any one tell me how the crafting system works in more detail.
I know that if I put 5 staffs in I get 1 random staff
If I put 2 conflag staffs in 1 beam 1 fire ball and 1 sniper staff in all blue do I get a orange conflag or is it just a higher chance at it.
Also the weapon ability it that full random or based on what I put in?

Different staff types are different weapon types. 4 conflag + 1 beam = 80% chance for conflag, 20% chance for beam.
