well I tried... Really there is no reason to play. I was planning on getting a ps4 for this game next month but I'll probably just play battlefront or go back to ffxiv, it's clear to me now that the proper way to play destiny is for 3-4 weeks after a new dlc/xpac and then just stop til next content drop. The endgame is literally only fun one time through because it's got the stingiest most rngesusbullshit loot system

This is a mainstream console shooter. Assume nothing of the average player's skill or mechanical prowess, and you'll never be surprised. There are still people who've been playing since day 1 who can't run relic on Y1 raids.

Besides, there's literally no point in the game where you HAVE to fight a Fallen Walker. There's the ones in Devils' Layer and Shadow Thief, but you don't need to run those strikes to progress. There's also the one in one of the Wolves of Mars quest, but you can actually let the Cabal kill it for you.

tl;dr any given y1 player is going to have a much higher grimoire than any given y2 player, and should be at least 3k.

All armour should be able to be rerolled, if I don't get good INT/DIS gloves for my Titan from Iron Banner and then it goes away, I have no ability to get them again until the next Iron Banner.

I wasn't around during the whole weapon rerolling thing but can see why it would be a little unbalanced, but instead now it's just RNG and if somebody else gets that GG Hawksaw roll and I don't, then I'm at a disadvantage that I can do nothing about.

People like to have tangible goals to work towards and at the moment it's just about crossing your fingers and hoping the moons align in your favour.

I think the real idea was shards were gonna be the reward for helping groups after you've cleared the raid that week
then when you get enough shards you can get another drop
and your reset drops would always be armor or weapons

This. I've been in a couple of fireteams of randoms and shitstomped popular streamers and their fireteams.

I think the game does try to match fireteams against each other, but if it doesn't find one immediately, it picks anybody up. And that it also sees a fireteam and not its size, so a fireteam of 2 is treated the same as 6.

I'm sure IB's netcode is intentionally gimped to make it seem more 'competitive' by forcing more trades. Nothing more than conjecture based on past experience, but I've always said this. well you can play normal crucible at any light level since its all scaled, Iron banner depends on light level, since its not scaled so better gear and weapons means more damage, its not a massive difference tho.

play strikes and get blues till you get to high 290's then raid or get carried at 290 ish on a normal mode

if you play iron banner closer to it going away on reset then you get massive XP

if you play it friday, sat or sunday you get massive bonuses and can get to rank 5 easily.

you get packages for level 3 and 5 and they contain ghost shells and a 310 blue artefact so you should play iron banner.
